  1. Thanks Andy. Yea, no changes over previous releases. Basically the the exact same '63 Vette kit from the mid-70's on. Light years away from Revell's '67 Vette. Is that good or bad? Despite what it is, I like it, and it still can look nice with very little work. Scott
  2. Watch crystal glue. How does this stuff work? And how does one get a hold of it? Scott
  3. Yes. Many members of our local model car have been doing it for years with great results. Including myself. Scott
  4. I see you used the Meteor grille piece. Very cool. It looks good. Scott
  5. Tell me more Jim. Do they dry clear? And what effect do they have on clear plastic? I've used neither MEK or Tenax in the past, so I know little to nothing about them. One problem with Testors clear is does bond very quickly. This is OK in most circumstances. But in this situation it's a bit of a problem. Scott
  6. OK, did I make a mistake by putting what I did here earlier today? I thought this posting was "What did you get today?" Not about accidents involving Wal Mart trucks in New Jersey. The continuing conversion in that vein makes me feel like what I posted this afternoon was a total waste of time. And to be lost in the Wal Mart truck discussion. Scott
  7. Tom, please make sure that Mr. Cura knows how much a lot of us appreciate how much he has done putting together that web site. Obviously I'm putting it good (??) use. Scott
  8. Tom, is there anyway to get one of those brushes? Scott
  9. Need to see a photo. Scott
  10. I use Testors clear with fairly good results. In fact that is what I'm using so far in building my AMT Display Case Trailer. Unless somebody can tell me something better, this is what I will continue to use. Scott
  11. I'm slightly disappointed that only Mr. Kucaba has commented on this one. Has no one out there ever had any success building this kit with the clear sides and top? I've got the three sides kind of glued together so far. I'm now looking at getting them mated up with the top. I'm going slow on this, and still hoping some more people out there may have some good advice. And thanks to Mike Kucaba for the advice given so far. Scott
  12. Japan's version of a Rotory powered '63 Thunderbird. I've always like the looks of this car. Scott
  13. Way cool. By the way, Bruce Bowser is right. Do Not Add Slicks. It's a very cool sleeper the way it is now. I like it! Scott
  14. Picked up an old favorite model kit at a local hobby store this afternoon. Got AMT's latest release of their old '63 Corvette. I love this car and still like the old kit. It's crude and simple by today's standards. The tooling looks like it's still OK. Not a lot of flash on the kit I picked up today. I still remember the first time I ever saw a '63 Corvette. If it was in the fall of 1962, I was all of four years old at the time. Being that young I was watching Romper Room one morning. The show right after that was some game show. I had no interest in the game show. But they showed this sleek new car on their show. Even at four, I was car crazy. They showed a close up of the front end. There were no headlights! Until they turned them on, and these two pods rolled over exposing them! It knocked my socks off! Up to this point in my life, this was the coolest car I had ever seen. A year or two later my Mother bought me my first model kits, and helped me paint and build them. They were Frankenstein's Fliver, Dracula's Dragster, and a German Me 262 jet (ironic, since my Mother grew up in Norway during the Nazi occupation). The next kit I remember building was with my Dad. It was a '64 or '65, non-split window Vette. Shortly after that I got a Cox gas power (red) '64 or '65 Corvette. So this generation Sting Ray had a major impact on my likes and tastes in cars. The last time I build AMT's '63 Vette was sometime in the 1990's. I decided at that time to build the kit stock, will the non-fuelie 327. Since then Revell came out with their non-fuelie, Powerglide, standard wheel covers, and air conditioned '63 Corvette snap kits. So I have decided its time to build another '63 Vette, but this time with fuel-injection. I'm going to go red with red interior. To me that will always be right color for a split-window coupe. Though silver with a silver interior would be a good second choice. But, red it's going to be this time. By the way, I always preferred the roaster versions of Corvettes over the coupes. My dream Corvette is a '67 big block roadster. Which I have a couple copies of Revell's great kit of. The only year I like the coupe over the roadster, is the first coupe, the 1963 split-window. As impractical as it may be, the '63 split-window ranks number two with me. Right after the '67 roadster. So, I'm delighted to buy another AMT '63. I plan to have fun building another one. Scott
  15. OK now I've been going through issues of Model Car Science. Also on the Model Encyclopedia web site. And look what I found in the May 1970 issue of MCS. Now an interesting question that maybe Tim can answer. Are not the cars below his the original Zingers? Were MPC got the idea for their Zingers? Scott
  16. So is this finally available? Scott
  17. This is a car I wish someone like Revell would tackle as a regular 1/25th scale styrene kit. I'm surprised no one has. Scott
  18. The brown box art car is the kit I built. It went together OK. I don't remember any major problems. Only minor problem as noted in my first post here. Scott
  19. Love Aussie muscle cars. I wish there were kits offered of several of cars. Scott
  20. Lovely car. One of my favorites. I still need a decent, reasonably price, and not too complicated to build, 1/25th (or 1/24th) scale model kit of this car. I don't understand why this car is not offered in kit fom by somebody like Revell. Scott
  21. Typical MPC kit from early 1970's. So expect low detail, especially with chassis. Not a bad kit overall. In general builds into a decent looking model. One little detail I like in this kit is the separate non-chrome grille inserts. I'm not concerned about the wrong spoiler. I like that generation GTO clean without things like spoilers. I'm not happy with the incorrect exhaust tips. Scott
  22. Yea, Keith Marks is a little slow at times. But, worth the wait. Never had any real problem with him ever. Seems like a decent guy to deal with over all. Great decals, by the way. Scott
  23. Question? Has anybody ever successfully built AMT's (old MPC) Display Case Trailer, in its complete clear form? And if so, how do you do it? The instructions are of little to no help. How does one line everything up, glue it together, and get it to stay in place, all at the same time? Tried Testor's Model Master clear parts cement and tape to hold it together. But, no luck. The parts are not warped and line up straight. Just a little baffled on how to put the clear parts together successfully. I hope someone can tell me how to do this. Scott
  24. Another nice Ford, Tulio. I like the job you did on the correct factory pin striping. Very nice. Scott
  25. Another one? Boy do you like your AMT '57 Fords. Scott
