  1. That's pretty bright alright- I think my rods and cones are oversaturated now
  2. I have a vintage "Benjamin Franklin" .22 air pistol that won't pump up anymore. I gotta get it fixed one of these days, it's really cool
  3. My '53 Victoria was molded in red- the white top is PlastiKote white primer that's been clearcoated with Dupli-color clear
  4. I'm currently building the Revell '48 custom coupe and so far it seems like a real nice kit. I'm using the De Soto hemi from the AMT '53 Ford PU and it's like it was made for it
  5. 1. If you use Microset, be sure and let the acid dissipate, (which can take several days) or you run the risk of an interaction causing pinholes in the decal. 2. Don't spray a wet coat right off the bat- build up a barrier layer of several light mist coats and let them dry thoroughly before you even think about a wet coat
  6. I'd use white primer then a coat of yellow before the TS-49 if I was going for the brightest red
  7. I used that on my last build and liked it- got it at Hobby Lobby with a 40% off coupon I used to use Gunze Sangyo Mr. White Putty and I liked it too, but my LHS stopped carrying it
  8. If I'm not mistaken, they fit the dog rather tightly which makes them feel secure
  9. Time and a Word by Yes
  10. I've gotten my best results shooting a single coat just heavy enough to get full coverage on bare, polished plastic, then I do an initial buffing with a fairly hard-headed cotton swab after 30-45 minutes to get the sintered metal particles kind of pressed into the surface before it fully hardens. Then I wait overnight and finish buffing it with a soft cotton t-shirt. It's a pretty delicate finish and it's easy to take it too far- stainless steel metalizer is more forgiving in that respect but doesn't get as "white" a shine as the aluminum plate.
  11. No, they're all totally illegal. They are really stupid, but after they saw me taking pics they loaded it all in the back of their jacked-up, unmuffled, rattle-canned '80's pickup and got rid of the evidence while banjos played in the background okay, I made up the part about the banjos .
  12. A little more info on the quake, it registered 4.2 and was centered ~6 miles from us I lived in the LA area when the big 7.2 quake hit in the '60s- I was in bed and the water was sloshing out of my aquarium and the plastic globes on the pole lamp (remember those?) were bashing against each other, it was really scary
  13. We just had a fairly substantial earthquake here ~10 minutes ago- the whole dang house shook for 10-15 seconds. I'm still a little shaky myself, wow.
  14. My neighborhood is like a war zone on the 4th Here's the aftermath from ONE neighbor: I used to like the 4th of July, now I'm like an unpaid babysitter making sure a bunch of drunk rednecks don't burn my house down with their illegal fireworks
  15. The key to using any kind of "hot" lacquer over decals is to build up a barrier layer of many light "mist coats" and let it dry thoroughly before you spray a wet coat. It's really not that difficult, you should give it a try!
  16. I've often thought that one could sell some sort of useless goo in a plastic bladder printed with the message: "thank you for your purchase of useless goo, thereby affirming the notion that some people are stupid enough to buy anything" and people would buy it just because it's so true
  17. Dupli-Color "Perfect Match" clear isn't any hotter than TS-13, and nothing I've used polishes up better than TS-13, at least for me.
  18. Get a compass cutter and you can make them yourself in any size you want Then just use white primer (not high-build) from a spraycan
  19. I bought 800 rounds of Remington and CCI mini-mag .22lr for $11 a couple of months ago- it still had old K-mart price stickers on the packages.
  20. That coating is different depending on the manufacturer, no single product will take all of them off
  21. IT JUST SAYS "SANDABLE" PRIMER ON THE CAN, IT DOES FILL A BIT, BUT ISN'T WHAT I WOULD CALL A "HIGH-BUILD" PRIMER. IT'S ALSO WHITE IN COLOR, THE GREY IS T-235.
  22. Numbers by Kraftwerk
  23. I saw Yes at the LA forum in 1971 or '72 during their Fragile tour- best concert I've ever been to Geddy Lee said he wanted to be Chris Squire when he grew up RIP
