I am working on a 1/8th scale motorcycle build. I will be making my own gas tank for it and I could use some input. The tank has a multitude of basically straight angles. I have mocked it up with a thin piece of card-stock. I have the angles right but need an idea of what to make it from. My first thought is plastic, I have it scribed out on a piece of Evergreen .040 sheet. I haven't cut it out and started folding it yet but my guess (fear) is it may break at the scribe(s) when I do fold it. I have thought about filling each scribe line, once I fold it, with superglue/baking soda (or baking powder) as I've seen some use on the forum to help with strength. To do this I would have to be sure it's at the correct angle before doing the next scribe line. My other thought is forming it from a thin piece of metal such as what K&S offers. My hesitation here is the ability to bend it, a small metal brake would be ideal but looking around they are out of my budget right now, and being able to cut it with the tools I have on hand. I don't know the best thickness to start with either. It has to be thin but not flimsy. It may be easier to post a WiP on the build but I'm not that far along yet (I've been concentrating on what to me will be the hardest parts-such as the tank). Any advice would be appreciated.

Excellent Build!!! I am most impressed with the decals. They look like they would have been a bear! I probably would'a pulled out what little hair I have left. Good job.

AWEsome!!! Excellent workmanship. Something I would have never thought about let alone do.

Sharp looking Corvette!

Be prepared to spend some time. I noticed quite a few duplicates. That can't help on the voting. I did vote for quite a bit but I limited it to things that I would buy for myself, spending my money. Possibly lots of good stuff and if they would re-issue a few older kits listed that would be nice too.

I have recently been looking for parts for a couple of my builds. I have gotten needed parts from two members here who were looking for nothing in return. I am very grateful and I have kudos for both of them. They are: JollySipper (TJ) and TooOld (BOB) Thank you gentleman, the parts are much appreciated!!!

...And yet I can't look away.
DPNM replied to Lunajammer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This is one of those customs that make me scratch my head. I am sure it took a lot of time, effort and money but the question is WHY? There is just too much going on to be cohesive. If there is someone here that knows how to photoshop and they have time to kill I'd be interested in seeing what this thing would look like painted gloss black with blacked out chrome and slammed on the ground (leave the chrome dots in the front and rear grilles). I have no experience with photoshop or I'd do it myself. As is, ChrisBcritter pretty much says it all without saying anything. -
This is what I bought. It's a lot cheaper now. http://www.amazon.com/Fujifilm-FinePix-AX650-Digital-2-7-Inch/dp/B000P6I4XO

The one criteria that was important to me was a camera that uses AA batteries. I wanted those as they are easier to find if you are out and about. Also easier to replace without needing/waiting to charge. The other type battery may work better for you or be less expensive in the long run. My camera is 16 MP and 5X. Good enough for what I need it for (putting pics on the forum for instance) and it is under $100.00. I take the batteries out as soon as I am done using the camera. Take some time and determine what is important to you. Good luck!!!

A few years ago I worked for a company that got me up close and personal with the NS RR. At that time they were just beginning their Heritage train program. I got to see the Nickle Plate, New York Central and the Lehigh Valley. The Monongahela was the one I really wanted to see but left that job when it was in the paint "booth". Never did get to see it . Pics of NS Heritage Trains here: http://www.nscorp.com/content/nscorp/en/archived-news-release/2012-news-releases/norfolk-southernsheritagelocomotives.html

I drive for a living too. I usually listen to sports radio but when I get out of the area I switch to the big K am. That is where I heard about the camera. They interviewed a guy and if I heard correctly there are three (3) sets of bald eagles in the western half of the state. One pair north, one pair in the central part and the ones on the camera. It would be nice to see a lot of them, moreover up close. I am not a bird "watcher" in the true sense of the word but I do watch interesting birds when I see them. We have plenty of hawks here, owls and I personally like hummingbirds and woodpeckers. Nothing like the yellow color of a canary either.

Matthew, If you drive in the Burgh a lot you know where it is. For those unfamiliar with the area it's basically between the County Airport and the South-side on route 837. It can be boring to watch but I have seen the hatchling (chicklet ) twice. I also see where they can move the camera. They had a shot of what was probably the male in a tree keeping an eye out, more than likely for food. I have it as a separate window and look at it every so often. I think it's cool.

There are a pair of Bald Eagles close to Pittsburgh. They are on a live feed camera from KDKA. There were three eggs but one hatched yesterday (March 28th). They say the eggs will hatch three days apart from each other. I just wanted to post this in case anyone else might have an interest in viewing it occasionally. Bald eagles are few and far between in this part of the country. Link should be here: http://pittsburgh.cbslocal.com/hays-bald-eagle-cam/ Sorry, you may have to sit through an ad first .

What type of "Box Art" do you prefer?
DPNM replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My BAD on that! I had gotten the kit in the mail yesterday and I didn't think to look on the bottom. It's not a place I'd normally look. -
Or the driver should have at least left it in gear. Ya gotta feel bad for the tow guy as he watches it disappear.

What type of "Box Art" do you prefer?
DPNM replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As Harry said, I want to see the actual model too, built with the kit parts. An "un-retouched" pic would be ideal but unlikely with some kits. It gives me a better idea of what it will look like completed. There should be at least one actual pic of the model somewhere on the box if there is not one on the box top. As an example, I just completed a trade with a member here. I got an Accurate Miniatures McLaren M8B kit. The box does not have even a small pic of a completed model. Reading on the forum and the web I've found that this kit has final fit issues. From what I understand most people display it with the body off (nose and tail pieces) to not show the kit flaws. Could that be why AM didn't put a completed model pic on the box??? I knew about this issue before the trade, I wanted the car anyway. -

I received a set of these. They look FANTASTIC and they were returned to me quickly. The Cherry has very nice grain to it. This should make the bed really POP!!! Thanks Tim
