  1. Yea Sam, sometimes when it rains it pours Sportsters! Usually I'm a day late and a dollar short. I'm sure you'll agree, ya can't never have enough.
  2. Uli, This was in today's mail. The 40 plus year old chrome is the best I have ever seen in that age model. And you can call me a bit strange but I am in love with the exhaust pipes. It's too nice so this one won't get chopped. I have another plan for it. It will need some tweeking.
  3. Ulrich, If I'm not mistaken you are "HarleyBuilder" on another Large Scale forum. We talked Harley's there too. Good to hear from you here. I think I may change my build to the Sportster before I finish the big twin. I also have something coming in the mail to me that I might use instead.
  4. Wowzer, I had to go to page 4 to find this thread. It HAS been a while. Some explanation in case anyone is interested. I work a lot and it gets tough to get home at a decent time much less try to build. Throw in I moved about 6 weeks ago and had parts to this build in two different locations, the parts in the thread I was working on and the rest of them somewhere else. Seems I "misplaced" them. I found them this past Friday. The beginning of this thread states that I've been looking for a right side shift Sportster for a long time. I found this yesterday: I'm rather stoked. Sorry I didn't take a before pic as it was assembled when I bought it. It will need work but I will probably start on this and save the big twin for later. Besides working a lot I have two non model related projects I'm working on that I want to finish. This bike may take a while to get started on but I will. I will post pics of progress when I have some. It's got to go in the purple pond for a while anyway.
  5. Sam, I have to harken back to this build which I am in total awe of: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=80348 Looks pretty long to me compared to the truck in the foreground. I'm not sure of the overall length but there is no tag axle. Four front steering tires, yes. I can't wait to see which direction you go, no matter what that may be. Still a great score of kits too.
  6. Nice Haul Sam!!! I'm in with the oil field votes on the stretched KW.
  7. I am fairly certain there was one in the AMT Meister Brau pulling tractor kit, molded in yellow. Same kit was molded in grey also I believe.
  8. James, Sorry to go off subject here but I really like the 1970s paint on the Sporty tank in your avatar. Looks to be mounted on a big twin. Got any more pics?
  9. Again, thank you sir! I think I should have enough info to give this a try. I'm going to set up my airbrush and compressor to your specs. More'nlikely I won't get to it til,at least, next weekend. I will let you know how things turn out. I appreciate your input.
  10. Thanks Chris, I was looking for and found your tutorial on spraying the clear coat. One question (for now ), what needle/nozzle/tip size do you spray with?
  11. Chris, I am glad you posted this. I have been a Dupli-Color guy since I started modeling. I have a couple non-model related things I want to spray and it always seems too humid when I do have the chance to paint (I have to spray outdoors). Being water-based this material should not be affected by humidity (plus I got an old hairdryer from my ex-girlfriend). I'm going to wait til you post the clear video before I attempt this. Since I had to go to W/M today anyway I went down the craft aisle. I got the flat Apple Barrel acrylics you use for 50 cents a bottle. I spent a whopping $6.00 on 12 different colors. I already have Future and windshield washer fluid. Thanks again and I can't wait for the clear video. I want to give this a try. It may well change the way I paint.
  12. Such a beautiful car . IMHO one of the best looking cars of all time, if not THE best. Thank you for posting this Skip!!!
  13. I think there is something wrong with my eyes looking at this thread. These cars look proportionally out of focus. Do you have a pic of the front/side of the VW? It is the strangest one of the bunch to me. It kinda looks like a toy that grew.
  14. My favorite DP song is Lazy. iirc Circus magazine gave the LP Smoke on the Water "the Boot" rating. Hmmmm, what where they listening to? This album was huge and made a TON of $$$. It is still a fan favorite.
  15. I, too, don't care for the hoops that they want you to jump through. I guess they feel it is in the dogs best interest but it seems to be too much hassle to be worth it to me. If it was closer to you it may be different. A while back I found a dog at an online rescue shelter that I liked. Their ad said they were looking for someone to just come spend time with it (walks, etc.). Being it was pretty close to where I lived I emailed them that I would be willing to do that. I never received a reply. I can only guess that they found someone else or somebody either adopted it or they found someone to take it in til it was placed. I figured by volunteering to do that the rescue people would have ample opportunity to evaluate me.
  16. Hey Skip, I think it's comical. The dog stole the show.
  17. They look to have quite a few that you could choose from. Most being relatively young too it seems. How far away from you are they?
  18. I feel your pain. If it isn't something obscure and different I want, I end up being a day late and a dollar short . I'd suggest to bide your time. The right dog may be just around the corner. It might help to place a "wanted" ad on craigslist. You may have to deal with a few craigs loonies but it could pay off. Also, going to animal shelters and leaving your name and phone number with the specific breed may turn one up. I wish you success and I'll keep my eye on this post for any updates.
  19. Any kind of update JT?
  20. Excellent build and weathering Bob!!! One of my favorite movies.
  21. Stevie is my favorite female singer. I love her voice and as others have said, she still looks fantastic. The first video is in my favorites along with more of her songs/videos. Just have to watch and listen to them every once in a while. I can't help it...
  22. It's nice you are considering giving her another chance. An important thing to me seems that whenever she would have her back to you it doesn't matter what you say or how loud you say it. Hand signals will be your communication. If she gets off leash and runs from you, well, I'm sure you have thought of this. My ex girlfriend has a dog and within 10 minutes I had it "sitting pretty" and begging. I also gave her a hand signal for the same command and she learned it quickly too. She is not deaf, I just wanted to see if she would "listen" to hand signals, dogs will. It takes a special person to choose an animal that has special needs. She will be more work than a dog that can hear. Make sure that you know for sure. Try to think of as many situations as you can and how you would deal with them.
  23. I don't know if it's possible to rescue a dog from a breeder unless they are abusing the animals. Rescuing from a puppy mill might be an option but in both cases I'd be very wary. They would need checked over really well, physically and any emotional issues. If you are looking for a puppy, you may be able to find a breeder who has a large litter as I would think they might lower the price just to home them. Even waiting a few weeks longer when the puppies are ready. It's too bad there are so many hoops/and red tape to go through to rescue an animal. My best friend right now is a cat. I plan to get a dog when I know I will have the time to devote to it. Right now I work too many long hours. When I look for a dog I will search the animal shelters in my surrounding area. I will even give them my 2 breed list so they could call me before they call a breed specific rescue organization.
  24. You are correct with Spuds (Spudz?) and the Target dog. LDO is right with Black Sheep Squadron too. I've heard they are very strong dogs for their size. Better hold the leash tight once it grows . Are you thinking breeder/puppy or rescue animal?
  25. Bull Terrier in links above, Pit Bull (American Staffordshire Terrier) here: https://www.akc.org/breeds/american_staffordshire_terrier/index.cfm
