  1. One of my favorite race cars and a very well built model. It looks great!!! As an aside, I remember seeing a race car with this same paint scheme with the "University of Pittsburgh" on it. I never found any info on it though. This was long, long ago. Long before such a thing as the internet.
  2. I doubt most of you will be excited but I am. I got another airbrush to add to my collection. It's a Binks Wren Model A. Single action, siphon feed. The second airbrush (and the first good one) I bought was a Binks Wren Model B almost 45 years ago and it's been my modelling airbrush "go-to" since. Among others, I now have the Model A, three Bs and a C, all they made so my Wren collection is complete. I found it on feeBay, made an offer and it was accepted. Cool beanies!
  3. This is his '57 the way the season ended last year. It's a sharp looking car. I root for Monza as I prefer his Camaro over the other cars on the show.
  4. You're welcome and welcome to the forum! And yes, the Mods are high-lighted in red. There weren't any on when I replied to your post the first time. There was one on just before my posting this.
  5. Very nice build. Interesting concept car. Something I doubt I'd have thought about. As Snake said, it will take me a while to get used to the look. If you would, I'd like to see a straight side-view pic if possible. Either side.
  6. As far as I know now we can no longer delete our own posts. Others who may know better should help you. One thing you can do is PM a Moderator and ask them to delete the posts you want deleted. If you posted in the wrong area you can ask them to move it to the area it belongs in. The Mods can be found at the bottom of the home page under who is on line. Their names are high-lighted (I believe in red). You may also click the "report post" button on the posts you want deleted and you may be able to ask them to delete it from there. I have not tried doing this myself though. I usually send a PM to a Mod who is on line.
  7. Excellent build!!! Looks realistic. With the radiator up front it doesn't leave much room for cases of beer. Guess they will need to use the Scania for beer runs.
  8. Thanks for posting this Alan. As said, it's low that someone would steal your work. It is a bit curious to me that it is this decal set you show. I was looking at these on your site a couple of weeks ago. I was thinking of building the Flintstone Flyer Barracuda as I recall seeing the car at PID (Pittsburgh International Dragway), I believe on my 13th birthday which would have been, in 1968. The car didn't make a pass the day I was there but I did see it in the pits. My friend's Dad was the "wrench" on an FED. I had pit access. As an aside, the resin body shows on Speed City Resin not to be in stock and not to order one.
  9. If you have an eBay account you can add " Polynesian Beige DupliColor Dupli Color Dupli-Color" (spelled all 3 ways-just in case) and if someone would list it you will get an email from eBay ( you need to specify to receive emails). Use the "Saved Searches" feature. This has worked for me as my paint of choice is DupliColor. I was looking for some discontinued colors and I did (eventually) find them. It did take a while for one but I bought it when it showed up.
  10. As an alternative, depending on the size of your diorama, you may be able to find an empty aquarium that you can put over it.
  11. Excellent build replicating your 1 to 1 Mark. The '70-'73 Camaro is my favorite body style and you did a fine job. Well done!!
  12. Thanks for posting these Tim. Some excellent vehicles. Looks like a good time and a nice event to see. Regarding your quote from pic DSC 0817: Yep....those are "3-D" flames. Don't ask me how they did it... I have an idea on how these may have been done. You would lay out the flame pattern masking the outer portion. Paint the flames white. Mask around the top edge with 1/8th" striping tape and another about 1/8th" in from that (the width between them does vary though). You would need to cut the tape to a point when you mask the curved inner parts. You would then paint the yellow. Next fog in the orange, red and blue. Remove the striping tape. It looks like the white is a bit toned down so you could mix the colors (the yellow, orange, red and blue) with clear and lightly go over the white lines. I can see this in my mind, don't know if I explained it well enough. It is a nice effect. Gonna post a pic of my favorite paint job. The shadows are amazing. It's called the Snow Monster and the build can be found at the link. http://www.bosscatlegacy.com/miscproto/snowmonster/snowmonster.htm
  13. As mentioned, $400 seems a bit much. Watching the video didn't really show anything that would make me want to go out and spend that much for one.
  14. Superb build Phillip. The Stuka is my all time favorite airplane and your rendition is excellent!!! What scale btw?
  15. Yes, thank you for posting the link Steve. I don't know why it didn't come up in either of my searches??? I think I'll hold off too, unless I can find one really cheap. I have an idea for some customization of it but it seems that the work required is not worth the price as it is. Still, I think the actual car is awesome.
  16. A car I really like is the Cadillac XLR. I was taken with the first one I had seen. Turns out that Jimmy Flintstone offers one that seems to use a Revell 1997-2004 Corvette as the donor. I searched the forum (two different ways) and I found no posts concerning the XLR. Does anyone here have one of these and if so, I'd like your opinion on the piece before I'd buy one. I'm interested in the amount of flash, especially if it's in bad/hard to remove areas, does it look accurate, would it mate to the donor drive train easily, etc. Any input is appreciated.
  17. Nice build on this Lee. I've got a couple needing restored somewhere around here.
  18. I agree with Monty's pic of the 917/10. You can add the 917/30 as another for me.
  19. I don't think your build looks as bad as you say it does. Not a bad execution for all the firsts. I've never been a fan of BMF, I usually went with the silver Sharpie. Put another way, I never had success with BMF so I avoid it. The Molotow seems like the answer but I have as yet to use one. Your build looks good to me.
  20. I started a 1/6 scale Tamiya Harley SuperGlide in 2010 (which I restated til I put it away again in 2012) to replicate the one I owned "back in the day". I am trying to complete my first die-cast, a Dodge Warlock in 1/18th. Once I finish that project I plan to at least return to it and get some work done on the 'Glide. I started it on a different forum. The restart link to it is here: http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/motorcycles/46146-superglide-project-return.html?highlight=1%2F6+tamiya+superglide My first post is here: http://www.scalemotorcars.com/forum/all-events/6331-model-sunday-01-24-2010-a.html?highlight=#post43657
  21. Thanks Dave! Although I couldn't get the Not Now to drop down (no arrow) I clicked the more info link. One area was to block it. I clicked that and soon realized that what they said to do,with my minimal computer skills, it wasn't an option I wanted to try so I backed out of it. The next time the drop-down showed up I clicked it and there was a new choice: Always Block Notifications. I clicked that and have not gotten another. I logged out then back in and the drop-down didn't show up so all seems good. Thanks again.
  22. MrObsessive pretty much nailed it. Take the badges off most cars now-a-days and you wouldn't know who made it. Most seem to be pretty much the same looking IMO. There really isn't anything new that strikes my fancy. That and they used to build cars to last. Now they build them to last as long as your final payment.
  23. Every time I log in I get a drop-down box on my toolbar asking if I want to receive notifications from this site. It gives two options, one to Always receive notifications and the other choice is Not now. I click the not now and it keeps popping back up. I also X off of it. Either way it keeps coming back. Is anyone else getting this or just me? It gets to be annoying and I usually view the site now as a guest because it doesn't do it unless I'm logged in. Anyone have a clue?
  24. I've gotten more done. Pretty much the frame and interior. I have some cleanup to do with the black on the side pipes. I used water based paint in the recesses this morning and I want to be sure it's dry. The steering wheel will be higher. It mounts to the bottom of the dash panel. I will replace the air-cleaner when I find something better. I cut the ears off the stock one for now. I'm still in need of decals. Anyone???
  25. Back in 1975 I bought a custom painted 1973 H-D SuperGlide. I wanted to learn how to custom paint so I bought a cheap Badger to begin with which looked like the one in the second pic. It didn’t cut it. I had a relative that sold airbrushes and I bought a Wren model B from him (single action/siphon feed). I still have it but it’s been dropped so often the outlet port is no longer round. I found one to replace it and that is my go-to for doing models etc., on anything where a single action is best to use. I also airbrush T-shirts for myself or friends and I use a Paasche VL which I’ve had for many years. I did add a second one. I collect airbrushes (I buy them when I find them cheap, usually on craigslist). I don’t have an inventory of them all. There is a Wren C, a Master gravity feed, Sears (Badger 200 rebrand) but most of my collection is of side feed airbrushes. I have a number of Thayer and Chandellers, a Paasche V, a Badger 100SF and an Iwata Eclipse SBS. There may be a couple more that aren’t coming to mind. I did come across an old Wold (for $10) but it needs some parts or it‘s good for parts. As an aside, I do have a want ad on the forum looking for this specific Badger custom painting book. It’s the one I used to teach myself and I would really like to find a copy as my original is long gone. ( I bought the cheap Badger from an ad in this book. It was $9.99 IIRC).
