  1. Monogram had a companion to the Monster Mash. Same truck, called the Hammerhead Shark molded in blue sparkle. As an aside, the Hammerhead is what got me into modelling. I happened to see it on the shelf at a hobby shop. I was big into monster trucks and tractor pulling so I bought it. I had put in 4 wheel hydraulic steering and a few other mods but it wasn't a top notch job. That was around the time the kit had first appeared. I came across a rebuilder but it's a back-burner for now.
  2. You will probably get as many brand suggestions as you get answers. Just my opinion, I would suggest a larger and the most quiet compressor that you can afford and have room for. My reasoning? The quiet part is fairly simple unless you have a separate room you could put it in. The bigger one is in case you would ever want to use it for something that requires more air than the little compressors produce. Comparing PSI and CFM between brands/compressors would be a good idea. I have a little compressor similar to the Smart Jet pictured but I don't use it. I have some woodworking tools and my smallish CH pancake compressor is very handy. I use it to airbrush with too. Your opinion may vary.
  3. You can if you want to but I wouldn't. Who knows what parts they may pull out with it, steering wheel, turn signal post, shifter, parking brake, headrests etc.
  4. I don't know what type or why you would wrap the model in a cloth first. What I would do is wrap the model snugly in small bubble wrap and use Scotch tape on some of the seams, enough to keep it in the wrap. If you leave pull tabs that would be a plus. I'd place in a zip lock bag. I would wrap this with medium size bubble wrap. You need a box that this just fits in. If you would need more packing material around the inside of the box I suggest WalMart type plastic shopping bags. They are light and won't add much to the weight of the package. If you are selling these on feeBay put a disclaimer in (not that it might help) stating that you pack as carefully as you can but once it leaves your hands you have no control over it. I've worked in the package delivery business, no matter how well you pack it, damage can occur.
  5. I had used Ph...bucket 'til they did what they did. I now store my pics on my computer and upload from there. If I don't have the pic stored already I just snap a pic or few with my camera and upload those. It's free and there is no fear of it becoming a charged service down the road and having my pics held hostage.
  6. Yes, me too. A lot are right hand drive so I give myself a pass on those. Still look to see if I can identify one but alas, nope. I wasn't even good at a background car on the last post. And to agree with MrObsessive, if this car were a cat I'd think you are about to be clawed. It is kinda cute though.
  7. I found the post on this eldiablo78. I can't think of enough good words to say how well this was built. Golly!!! It's breathtaking. From his post it sounded like his models were stored in his shed which is what burned. What a loss. Tragic. I tried to post a direct link here but it didn't work. I believe I found the Mahenoguy post on page 2. I have a diorama scene that I've been gathering pieces for, it's still a project I haven't decided to start yet.
  8. The blueprint is really awesome eldiablo78. Thank you for sharing it.
  9. Outstanding craftsmanship. Incredible detail. You do excellent work and it shows. Well done!!!
  10. Sure. Thank you for the offer and for your time!
  11. And it more than likely is a Simca. As you can tell, I'm not good at this game.
  12. I don't know what it is either but there looks like a decent Volvo behind it.
  13. It certainly looks like an awesome build on the Fury Road truck in the video.
  14. I had a recent trade with OldTrucker (Johnny) and I'd trade with him again.
  15. I've always liked these cars and you built an excellent rendition of it. Well done!!!
  16. You did an excellent job weathering this "Twinkie Toter". Well done!!!!
  17. Well...it seems my headphones were plugged into my CD player and not the computer (who's the dumb guy now Jim, hmmm?). I listened to it and he does call himself an amateur modeller. I'll give him that. It could be my bad but I didn't verify all the pieces before I started either. I didn't notice any missing pieces from the trees except for one wheel which I knew was missing (I got this kit as part of a trade with a member here). I do know I will have a lot of it's parts left over. Depending on when this video was made he may have been able to get the missing parts from AMT, if the kit was unopened when he got it. My headphones are once again plugged into my CD player. Modelling music coming up. Pink Floyd, Metallica, Billy Idol plus anything else I think may motivate me.
  18. I got no audio from the video so it's hard for me to say it failed because of missing parts. I notice the builder is using tube glue so, not to be mean, I wonder how advanced his building skills are? His reason for quitting may be more related to my pic. Very poor fitment. Bear in mind that I had to sand some of the right side OFF to get it to fit this well. Can you say gap? One order of Bondo please. No, make that a double, the other side isn't any better. I have been working on it some but not enough for a decent update. I hope to be further in the next couple days. My job gets in the way.
  19. Your Cougar turned out exceptionally well Raoul. Very nice!!! Brought back memories. My first car was a '67 Cougar, bought used around 1973. Seeing yours, now I need to find a model to replicate it.
  20. From the dictionary that is correct. That is not what I was talking about. Sorry, it's an old saying.
  21. Yes it would. I know how to spell "assume" but you are probably correct. Miraculous story that Ossa. One I may put on the forum at some point.
  22. To start casting I'd recommend this: https://www.smooth-on.com/products/pourable-silicone-starter-kit/ I just ordered some and have begun casting a few things. I had used this years ago, it is pretty easy to work with. It won't break some budgets. Under $55. I bought the recent kit from Blick Art, here: https://www.dickblick.com/products/smooth-on-starter-kits/ I bought the kit with the OOMOO 30. It takes longer to set (6 hours) but it makes a mold that I believe you can use a bit more often than the quicker setting OOMOO 25 although I can't prove this. Greg has given many great points. I should have taken more time setting up my mold. I will redo them but I learned. Wasted quite a bit of silicone. Hope this helps.
  23. It's been moved here so that is where I'll keep it. I'll post updates when I get a bit further along.
  24. Did you find the cause of your issue Wise Dave? BTW, sorry I couldn't answer your needle question. The Binks Wren nozzle/needle connects differently. I can't orient the hole in the needle to a certain spot. Dave G seems to have answered you PSI question well.
  25. I've already asked a Mod to move it. If it's not, I will do that. Then again, I figure if it's moved here it might be less likely to be seen. That is probably a good thing.
