  1. This is a fantastic collection. Chaparral's are my favorite race cars, the 2D and 2F in particular. Jim Hall was so instrumental in race car design, far ahead of his time. The GS is very nice also. You did a great job in representing each one. I, too, would like to see posts on each car individually.
  2. I saw this. I had gone past it up the hill. It was parked by a driveway which had a similar looking car (yellow I think) and 55 or 56 two tone Chevy (Black/white?) in the garage. My guess, the owner of this was visiting a comrade. Sorry it's a bit grainy, I cropped the pic to make the car a little bigger.
  3. Excellent, good to see one of these built. One of my all time favorite F1 cars.
  4. That is awesome. Nice you can make fun of yourself when, maybe, others are making fun of your car. Just hope they don't leave the key in it and the little kids think it's theirs.
  5. All your aggravation looks to be worth it to me. Very nice!
  6. Looks like it to would be a fun little car and you did it in scale nicely. Excellent build!!
  7. Excellent workmanship! Unusual color combination that looks fantastic.
  8. This is a very interesting project. Not something I would attempt but you are off to a good start. I look forward to seeing your progress. If you don't mind my asking, what airbrush are you using for this?
  9. I hope I'm wrong. It would make a whole bunch of people here happy and I'd probably get at least one, possibly two.
  10. Sorry, I'm in the hoax camp. I have old eyes but if you read the description (beside the water-slide decal part) it sure looks like it says...Polar Lights has SPENT no expense...
  11. I recently purchased an airbrush lot. Besides the airbrushes and related parts for them there were some X-Acto handles, quite a few X-Acto #11 blades, some T-pins and the 3 tools in front of the box. I have no idea what these tools might be for. The one on the left and on the right look to have been made well. The one in the center looks to be home-made. They seem to be made from aluminum. I doubt they're model related. They may or may not be auto related. I know there is a diverse group on the forum. Maybe someone here might know what these would/could be used for. Any help will be appreciated.
  12. That is a neat looking towboat Ace. I'd like to see the WIP on it.
  13. You may want to check this thread. There may be more than you are aware of. It might give you a broader search. Sure eBay prices on some of these are absurd, there are times when you can get a good deal. You gotta keep your eyes open. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/139128-monster-trucks/?tab=comments#comment-2040031
  14. The paint on the car turned out very nice. I shop the aisle at WM every once in a while. As you said, some nail polish is pricey. If it's under $2.00 a bottle and it's a color I like I try to get two or three of them. Tis better to have too much than not enough.
  15. I'm another in the Dupli-Color camp. I usually use their Super White over Dupli-Color white primer. Amazing how many different shades of white there are.
  16. If it is a model I've built I would go with my avatar, the DeathProof Nova. If it's a vehicle available in model form I'd replace this, although it would be a 4 speed this time around.
  17. I was grouping together some of my airbrush extras and came across this 1/4 oz color cup that I can't identify. Something in the back of my mind tells me that at one time I had an airbrush that this cup belongs to. I just don't remember what it fits. It has a steep angle to it. The cup in question is the one in the back. Badger 150 cup on left, Paasche VL cup on right (both of which have pretty much the same angle). If anyone knows what airbrush uses this style cup I sure would appreciate knowing.
  18. Welcome back Derick. I use nail polish for finishes. Nail-polish has some really nice pearls. Thin with lacquer thinner right around 1 to 1. One bottle nail-polish to one bottle lacquer thinner should be close. As John said, you will need to primer your model first. I use Dupli-Color primers I buy from a local auto parts store. Then again, I'm in the US. I airbrush my nail-polish also.
  19. There are 12 correct answers and 11 names above. I got it so yes, and sorry matthijsgrit , it must have been too easy. The rear window area reminds me of the DS and I never had to look beyond Citroen.
  20. My guess, correct category, wrong title.
  21. I can see why you chose the .357 Ray. If you would have put in a .22 instead the model would look bigger. I'd guess if you put a quarter on the base it would cover half of the P and most (if not all) of the hyphen. Yes, it is a small model. Not having one here to check anymore I searched it. A .357 cartridge is approximately one and a half inches long. The case is 1.29" or just a tad over 1-1/4".
  22. You can always post another pic with a quarter in it. I guess if you wanted/needed to "bail" you better be able to jump out a good distance to clear the props. They would pretty much be double sided scissors. Ouch. You'd probably be better off laying on the basket floor (in the fetal position) and hope for the best.
  23. Maybe I'm not seeing the same pic that some others seem to see. The plane looks to be landing. Why else the balloons but as a Welcome Home? The family is waving hello? Might be a French thing. The wave might be to show the Dad where they are parked. The young person in white on the roof, it looks like a dress to me but the hair-style of the person looks male. Politically correct back then or maybe another French thing? The lady at the bottom of the stairs looks to be covering her eyes from the inevitable.
