  1. Thanks Steve. That was my next plan. I have some 91%. There is still a little top coat on one door and some on the trunk. I figured I'd soak it in SC again just to get it off first.
  2. My personal experience has been the better the item had been prepped for paint ie. sanded, primered etc. the harder it is to strip. Just trying to let you know that you may well have to sand a part that the paint (or primer) wouldn't strip off completely. The type of paint used could be a factor also. I've bought poorly prepped glue-bombs that stripped easy. I am stripping a car body now that was prepped well. The stripper took the top-coat off but I will probably need to sand the primer off. I have it in Super Clean.
  3. Excellent concept and great execution on this Ray. Looks good.
  4. This looks good Tom. You seem to be in the home-stretch. I like your color choice too.
  5. Looks like you have a good start TJ. I'll be following along.
  6. I had 2 PMs to answer yesterday. I replied to the first. When I tried to send the 2nd one I kept getting the page not found. While I was trying to figure out what I might be able to do I received a response from the person I had PMed 1st. I replied to it, which went through. I then retried the 2nd PM again, which went through. I then posted in two different sections of the forum with no problem. Sooooo, I dunno?
  7. I'll check out a show or two. I doubt that it will be the same Yep Ace, Marta sure was pretty. "Penny" was closer to my age. June was a good looking lady.
  8. He was. Like a kid at Christmas. I remember watching it when I was younger. May have had something to do with Angela Cartwright Thanks for the kind words everyone.
  9. Thank you peteski & SfanGoch. I did build it so the top half of the ship is removable. It shows as the next to last pic so a lot is still hidden by the top ring. The outside was painted with Dupli-Color silver out of the rattle can (better coverage/wider pattern). No clear-coat. There are various shades of Dupli-Color silvers and greys on the interior along with my first use of water base acrylic paints on some of the parts. Inner/bottom is Dupli-Color black primer. The guy I built it for received it as a Christmas present from a co-worker. He didn't get the lighting kit. It is a well designed and executed kit.
  10. I built this for a guy I worked with a couple years ago. It's rather large and takes some time to build. I had to paint the outside 4 times 'til it looked good to me.
  11. Not all today but these came in. They are for 2 builds I plan to do. The '29 Ford came from JollySipper. The '55 from DrKerry along with a DuVall style windshield frame and glass for the '29. These both arrived Monday. The '48 Ford convertible came today. I got it for the flathead engine. The '29 was soaking in Super Clean 15 minutes after I opened the box.
  12. I got my half of trades with JollySipper and DrKerry. I have a post in the Q&A section regarding a '29 Ford and a '55 Chevy. I got the '29 from TJ. The '55, along with the windshield frame and glass I need for the '29, from Kerry. Great guys, both! I'd also like to give a shout out to 64SS350. Karl was kind enough to offer me a flat head engine I need for the '29 while not looking for anything in return. I found a kit to pilfer so I ended up not needing it. It was very nice of him to offer it to help my build. Thank you sir.
  13. Pure bliss for me. This is where I started. Thanks for posting. As Mr Trendsetta68 has shown, some of these can be done in scale. It's just a much smaller subject area. This is something I hope to try to concentrate on with my painting skills this year. I've got a few ideas.
  14. Thank you for the information and the pics Ace. The pics help tremendously. Worth a thousand words as they say. I'll add the whole kit to my want list and try for just the windshield frame. I will buy the kit if I can find one on the cheap.
  15. Turns out that this member was interested in one of the kits I listed so I will have a '29 coming. Cool beanies! I changed my ad accordingly.
  16. Wow, Far Out Man! I dig it. Good job, nice build.
  17. BTD, I've done that on a Chevy pu grill. Sure makes it look a lot better. I sanded the back down. My Dremel skills ain't that great. Kind of like Wrrrrrr, whoops. Thanks for the tip though.
  18. I appreciate all the input. The '55 is the easiest and the least expensive so I will try to do that car, once I can locate a kit. I'll have to check it out closer, as to engine, interior, etc the next time I see it. I've seen prices on feeBay for the '29. As with what seems to be 1/3rd of listings the sellers must think that just 'cause it's old it's worth a gazillion dollars and the other 1/3rd are clueless to what they have because they bought it at an estate sale. Sorry, I digress. It's a rant that I have. GRRRR There is a member here willing to give me the '29 body and steering wheel. He has the whole kit, painted, that he would trade but I don't have what he is looking for, yet. It's the '50 Ford PU and convertible in my ad. For those interested my ad is here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/141974-looking-for-quite-a-few-kits-29-ford-55-chevy-210-plus-others/
  19. Since I have gotten so much help with these projects I'd like to see if I can find a source, kit or aftermarket, of the steering wheel and the V shaped windshield surround. You can also see why I said the '55 was inaccessible when I was there the second time. Probably coulda gotten interior pics but I figured I'd wait til it was sitting out and get more of the whole car at the same time. BTW, I did stop at HL today. No '55 kit to be found. Had my choice of three '57s, all of which I passed on.
  20. Thanks again Jon. I will keep R&M in mind. Thank you Ace, this should come in handy. I need to put the bondo on my list of stuff to get. I have other projects I need it for anyway. I am interested in your use of fiberglass and I'll be looking for info on here for that in the near future.
  21. Thanks again BTD, that is a good reference. I had concentrated more on the 29 yesterday as he had told me previously it was his favorite. I would think that you will be correct on the interior. He told me that the 55 was a 7000 mile car when he purchased it. I doubt much, if anything, was done to change the interior.
  22. Thank for the heads up espo. I may hit HL tomorrow just to look, with a 40% off coupon. I had stopped back yesterday and gotten some more pics of the Ford. Most were of the interior but there is a lot of pinstriping on this car.The next time I see him I will try to get more pics of the interior of the 55. It wasn't as accessible.
  23. Thank you BTD and MM. I think I've found the answer I need on the '55. I had searched eBay for 55 chevy and got a lot of stuff, mostly Corvettes and Nomads. I didn't scroll down far enough for the Sedan to show. Thank you Jon, this kit looks like it would work for most of what I need. I'm pretty sure I can find a flathead for it. Do you know if this kit has a hood included as it is shown without one? I may be able to do both for a reasonable cost. I'll be trying the Want Ad section before I go the feeBay route.
  24. I was invited to view a man's car collection on Wednesday and I MAY try to replicate one of his cars. My plan is to try to build one of them to give to him. I would prefer to do this without spending an arm and a leg.The first is the Ford street rod. He said it is a '29 body on a '32 frame with a '32 grill shell. It has a flathead engine. My personal preference is Monogram/Revell and it does look like they offered both as kits at one point. I'd appreciate help in finding out if these kits would be a good basis for this project. Second choice is the '55 Chevy. It is a 210 center post car. I see that there is a resin 210 body available but I would prefer not to spend the cash on it. Would a offered R/M Bel Air kit work as I should be able to fabricate the post if that is the only main difference. Any advice will be appreciated.
  25. Two things come to mind, neither of which may be correct. The seller may be on vacation and won't be able to ship so they blocked their PayPal until they get back. PP has an issue with them and their account may be frozen. Have you tried contacting the seller to get the skinny? Should be your best course of action as that is what eBay is saying to do.
