  1. Really nice boxes! I've been keeping an eye out for some 10/4 or 12/4 maple since I acquired the walnut. The walnut was all rough cut when I got it. I need to hone my woodworking skills, along with my airbrush skills. I gave one box to the people I borrowed a planer from. This is most of the walnut and a couple of the boxes. The pieces are my next one.
  2. I've used a Binks Wren B for the last 40 some years. I came across a nice vintage Paasche H that I may switch to once I get some experience with it. I've started to make some wood boxes for a few of the airbrushes I have that either don't have a case or the box isn't in good shape. I've got more walnut than you can shake a stick at, pun intended.
  3. I may be off base but the post says most beautiful car. My pick is not a street car. Not only beautiful, it levitates.2nd place and also not a street car: And my Corvette pick, 1961, white with a silver cove, including the hard-top.
  4. No, it doesn't. I thought I'd refrain from comment on the airbrush as it has been mentioned. It is what it is. The post is about the holder after all, which does look nice with the apple wood. Nice workmanship!
  5. The second view does make it look a bit more secure.
  6. The holder looks like a pretty piece of cedar that had a knot in just the right place. It looks a bit precarious to me though.
  7. Hey Rob, as far as I'm concerned you have nothing to apologize for. If this build wasn't van themed I doubt that I would have gotten involved. I had the AMTronic kit that I would probably have never done anything with. It seems "van-ish" to me so that's why I signed up. A part of it did vanish but oh well... Actually, I think I've found a better plan. As to your not being able to join in as you would like, life does have a way of changing ones plans. You have more important priorities to tend to. It happens. I hope things go well for you and yours.
  8. Another thought, depending on how old your brush is, and how much use it has seen, I'd suggest maybe replacing the tip, part number 3, in the needle size you use. If your brush has ever taken a nose dive the tip may have been affected. I'd also check to be sure that the needle is not bent. file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/changeme/My%20Documents/My%20Pictures/VL-Manual-4L.pdf
  9. Thank you for the AB info. Glad to see you back on this. I look forward to your progress.
  10. It's not that it matters if people care, it's more that I was embarrassed to own the first one . I'm going to give it my best shot. I will be modifying my original idea. Thank you for the nudge forward Jacob.
  11. Illustration I'm not a real big fan of Rat Rods but this I like.
  12. This was on my porch yesterday. I coulda put it in "What did you get today?" but I'd prefer most people don't know. I doubt that very many forum members have one, or have even heard of this kit. It is a good one to avoid if at all possible. Now I pretty much have two.
  13. I was reminiscing about some of the vehicles I've owned over the years. I got to thinking which year would be my favorite if I could only pick cars from one certain year. My vote would be 1967. Some Highlights: Corvette coupe or convertible (I had a coupe) Mercury Cougar (my first car) Dodge Charger (had one of these too) Cadillac Eldorado (an Aunt had one, white w/black interior and black vinyl top. Beautiful car IMO) Chevy Camaro Pontiac Firebird (my brother had a '68) Plymouth Barracuda Olds 4-4-2 Pontiac G.T.O. Ford Mustang (coupe, hardtop and convertible) Yes, there are more, like the AMC Merlin, Olds Toronado, Ford Galaxie, et al. I could go on and on. Link to some '67 models. Seems the Ford's were left out except for the Shelby. Check the last pic of the Pontiac Thunderbird! Awesome. https://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/car_spotters_guide_usa_1967 I'd like to keep this to American cars. My Import car year would be different. What is your favorite year?
  14. I question the footwear used. Both the "mechanic" and his helper have the same type. At about the 24 second mark the mechanics foot seems to be underneath the jack handle.
  15. I found one for a decent price on feeBay. Hope to have it by the end of the week. I will be redesigning from my original idea.
  16. I've hit a bit of a snag on the AMTronic model I have been working on. I joined this CBP way back at the beginning. I've worked on it off and on. It has frustrated me. I had cut a good portion of the back half out to shorten it. Since then I've found that I really need to glue the pieces together so I can work on it but I can't as then I will not be able to do anything on the interior, like spray paint it or add any details, which I had planned to do. Here's my dilemma, I got the box out to work on it today, I like abuse I guess. Come to find out I have misplaced the bottom section of the rear. I have searched for it, and so far, I can not find it. I've searched in it's boxes, the boxes of other models I have started and around various areas of the house. I keep a waste basket beside my build desk, it may have fallen in there without me knowing. That was about three empty's ago. I think I have til the end of the year to finish this, correct? I'm gonna look for another kit at a reasonable price and I do plan to get it done. I will not be shortening it this time though, it may go a little easier.
  17. Welcome to the forum Paul. You have an interesting looking project there. Sorry, I have no knowledge of the Molotow pens or paint. I have a Molotow 1mm pen, it's still in the blister pack. Their paint may depend on the fluid needle/nozzle of the airbrush. I do not know what it's viscosity is. You may want to consider painting at least some of the chrome body base color. That would solve part of your issue. Being the model is so large you could do a considerable amount of paint work on it. Here's a link to a post on the forum that I love, as you can tell if you click on it. Might give you a few ideas. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/142046-70s-paint-jobs/
  18. Thank you for the info. As Christopher said, excellent detail in that scale. Once this one is done it may be time to take the Lancaster out of it's "hanger" and finish it.
  19. The video is interesting. It's looks like the '58 Impala is etched, then painted with "metal paint"??? This car is stunning! https://journal.classiccars.com/2018/10/30/sema-seen-kuhl-racingrohan-1958-chevrolet-impala/
  20. Did someone say Lowrider? You should at least give it a try Ricky. It may turn out better than you anticipate. Would be good practice to "see it in the negative". And there is always Super Clean, Purple Power, Easy-Off etc, etc.
  21. Sorry to those that may not like this style. I'm not ready to let this thread die. If anyone would care to add to it I'll be looking. Custom or low-rider. As an aside, the last pic, to me, is mind boggling. It's amazing how nice of an effect a black and white paint job can have. It could be somewhat hypnotic.
  22. I think you are doing an excellent job on this considering the cut-away aspect of it and the foil. It's a pretty tall order that looks very nice to me. Unless I missed it, what scale is this kit? I saw one in 1/48 at Hobby Lobby that piqued my interest next time I have some extra spendable cash for a kit that I wouldn't know what to do with once I built it. The one in 1/48 has a wingspan of over 2 feet. Not sure where I'd display it. Then again, I have been keeping an eye out for a 1/24 Stuka at a reasonable price. The B-17 is my favorite American airplane.
  23. I can not answer your question exactly as I do not have a newer airbrush or a lid of this type. As BTD mentioned above, it looks like there are two flats that you may be able to unscrew it with (I would suggest trying to find an open end wrench first). You will need something to keep the top part from spinning. If it does unscrew you MIGHT have a problem with the new cap tightening correctly. I say this because of the raised ring in the Paasche cap. It might not tighten against the new cap (too loose). A small washer may work. You also have to be sure to drill the second (smaller) hole for air to siphon. If you use the "gasket" (white piece) from the new bottle drill both holes through that also and make sure the small hole in both line up when the lid is tightened. To partially answer your second question, in my experience, Paasche and Binks Wren bottles and hoses interchange. I just put an older H metal cup in my Wren B and I put the Wren bottle in an H. The angle may be slightly different but they would work to use. Again, both of these are older. I doubt that they have changed but I am not certain. Badger and Thayer & Chandler cups and hoses interchange. Badger and T&C cups and bottles will not interchange with Paasche or Binks airbrushes and vice-versa. Badger or Paasche might offer a bottle/lid as an adapter, you could check their sites. They do have adapter's to cross hoses from various MFGs. The closest Badger to the H and the Wren is their 350. I do not have one so again, I am not certain if they would interchange. I doubt it but I may be wrong. As an aside, most knock off Iwata's use an Iwata hose (go figure).
