  1. yes I have to agree the directors ruined a show that could have been good but I don't think the racing itself is scripted or staged just from watching it
  2. if you want the bottle/valve to be more realistic you should add a high flow valve and a blow down tube as well as add some more realistic sized braided line leaving the valve. Also you would need to add a fuel regulator for both the regular fuel pressure regulator and another regulator for the fuel for the nitrous system to really add detail
  3. how can you tell? to me the racings as real as it gets not once do they lift nor leave soft and not put it to the mat
  4. wheres the nitrous? I don't see solenoids or anything. otherwise cool build
  5. about a year ago while at the dragstrip I just got back from making a pass in my JR. Dragster and a friend of ours brought over a '59 elcamino, a trailer and a '57 chevy. They are from an old wix filter commemorative set from '94 and if mint would be worth something but the elcamino and the '57 are in pretty bad shape so I took the trailer, lowered it,found some rally wheels and cool tires, sanded the flash and injector pin marks, primed and painted it and here it is with my '68 charger.I need to scratch a jack and some ramps for it but other than that its done. comments appreciated
  6. yeah my dads vega would easily make it to the 5th or 6th spot and its just a low 8 second car, really nothing special.
  7. Yeah I don't care for the scripted fights and everything but the actual racing is the only reason I watch it.
  8. exact same reason I love the farm truck
  9. true but if the races they set up with them ricers at the gas stations isn't fake the "sleeper" does work on those guys
  10. And on the nova you cant drive around with the procharger wide open like that, rocks and other debris would ruin the procharger which im not positive but I do believe it would tear up the procharger and then go tear up the inside of the engine. And I have a lot respect for Jeff Lutz and Larry Larson, the nova and 57 are incredible cars. yeah its very scripted and fake but its still fun to watch, although farm trucks not on the top 10 anymore its still my favorite because its a true street car they actually go out and drive it
  11. Has anybody been watching street outlaws on discovery channel Monday nights? IMO its a great show compared to everything else on tv right now. Yeah you can tell its scripted and they aren't actually doing any illegal street racing because they are on a blocked off road or at the airport on one of the airstrips. For those who don't watch the show is made up of what they claim as the "10 fastest street cars in the country". Every single one of the top 10 cars/trucks get trailered out to the location but all of them do have working lights and I assume are registered and insured. But really none of the cars get street driven at all except for the farmtruck who used to be number 10 but recently got knocked off by 3rd gen. All in all if you like drag racing its a great show to watch even with its downfalls. heres a few of the cars, the top 3 to be exact. #1 Daddy Dave, 96 Sonoma 632 cubic inch bbc, 3 stage speedtech nitrous system #2 Sean, 69 nova 572 cubic inch bbc, F3 procharger #3 Doc, 70 monte carlo not sure what its got in it
  12. just realized you said this right before I just said the same thing...
  13. But if you are running nitrous and you aren't adding more fuel the engine can run lean and a lot of things can happen, burnt pistons/melted pistons, melting valves and much more
  14. nice job cutting out the doors and trunk lid I've thought about trying that but I haven't been brave enough to actually do it.
  15. or my vega, I don't know why but these cars just fascinate me, being a unibody and so light with a rowdy small block and a good suspension set up theyre mid to low 10 second cars
  16. yeah what kinda man uses a blow off valve?.......BOOM!!
  17. I know they're polished on the 1 to 1's ( I have a set on my streetcar) I thought the only way to replicate polished wheels is to chrome them in 1/24 and 1/25. what is aluminum buffing plate metalizer? I have a set of weld prostars that I thought I would have to find a company that will chrome plate them for me but if theres a closer match to polished aluminum I would love to know!
  18. It must have had a bad blow off valve in it for it to completely explode rather than blow the nitrous out of the blow down tube under the car
  19. Should be very cool, awesome story behind it! I am wondering how youre going to get the draglites chromed?
  20. cool build but IMO that is far from pro street to me it looks like a mix of drag car with donk wheels and it wouldn't be street legal. but its still a cool build, nice job!
  21. The definition of a model is a scaled down replica of the real thing, yes they are plastic but no they aren't "toy cars" I find this very offensive because this "childs hobby" is more of an adult hobby, im 14 and possibly the youngest member of this forum so that means about 98% of this forum is made up of adults and about 2% is us teenagers so its not a childs hobby only its more of a adult hobby nowadays. My biggest question is if you think that all were doing here is building "toy cars" and arguing over a hobby for children then why are you here? are you here to question our authority to participate In this hobby?
