  1. Great idea! I want to see pictures.
  2. Wow... Somebody has more money than I do.
  3. That would be cool. Yeah, the wheels would be the hard part. somebody makes the stock flathead parts in resin. You'll need a stock dash, seat and door panels too.
  4. Same here. I'm going more and more towards the acrylic paints, with the occasional metalizer used here and there.
  5. Very cool! Put the loose parts back on and display as is. I've built every one of those at least once.. nice kits.
  6. Wow - that is nice!
  7. Hi Carl, Sorry to hear about this. I have a good friend and neighbor who's been dealing with MS for almost 20 years. I feel we're going to be hearing more about things like this as the 'Boomers' start getting older. I can't detail as much as I would like to because of my eyes. My vision is about 20/70. For those of you that may not know, that is the second line on the eye chart. I use the strongest Optivisur I could get,and sometimes,it's still not enough. There's no way I can put on spark plug wires and teensy things like that. Just do what you can as long as you still enjoy it.
  8. I've used masking tape for vinyl tops and seat belts. Even headliners
  9. Great ideas! I'll have to try the tea bags. A few years back,I had an electric blanket and the controller fried. I was going to toss it,but started looking at it,and I thought 'that would make a great fastback for a custom'. I haven't used it yet,but I still have it.
  10. It could be the best camera in the world, but if you don't use it right, the pictures are still going to look bad. Take a little time and see what works best. It could be a whole other thread, but some sellers on *bay are awful. They're selling parts, but they just dump the box on the table and take a few fuzzy pictures. OK I'm done...
  11. Really? I never got a thing. Hmmm That's strange. Could you PM me here? Thanks!
  12. I'm guessing either a Predicta or Batmobile.. Will be cool whatever it is.
  13. Very impressive build! What did you use to make the original body from? Styrene? Thanks!
  14. Years ago box art would have a lot to do with me buying a kit. now,I want to have an idea what's in there before I pay.
  15. This ought to be good. I've never seen one of these built.
  16. Here's the whole family. I have an 82 Corvette in a storage space under this display.
  17. Harry, It was a good deal. I've got it on display now and it looks pretty cool. I'm in no big hurry to get rid of it. A lot of it's just a matter of space. I've only got room for 4 1/8th models in my display case.
  18. I think I'm going to put it back on the bay. I don't think it can be torn down. I didn't want to try it. I have 5 other 1/8th kits, but don't have room for all of them. It's a nice enough car,but I have the new version with the flathead.I want to build it.
  19. Thanks Ron. I forgot about the shifter knob. I had the fan belt on it. It came off after the engine was in,and it's almost impossible to put back on then. I was kind of surprised at how big this really is after it's built. I have the new one too. I'm restoring a Big Tub right now.
  20. This is my latest *bay purchase. It's the original 1963 version with working lights. This must have been a father and son project that nevr got finished. Some parts were put together nice and neat, while others-not so neat. The wheels were never glued on.The windshield had a big tire mark on it and was never glued on. It's missing a headlight lens, but other than that it's pretty complete. I didn't paint anything on it. I couldn't get some of it apart for fear of breaking it,so I left it alone..
  21. I don't have this problem. I don't expect perfection. Like it was stated earlier, these are still considered by many people to be toys. Some people would look at those $100+ FM or DM diecasts and find errors. As far as the cost, when I started building, like a lot of you, kits were $1.50 or so. About an hour's pay back then. Now they're $20 - $25. A lot of people (not me ,lol) make that an hour. I guess all you can do is let the model makers know you're unhappy with their product, otherwise they will keep making them. We could go back to the days before injection molding- a block of wood and 4 wheels. My .02.
  22. I like that.. The side kinda reminds me of a Delahaye.
  23. Good points guys. There's no replacement for driver education, which is seriously lacking in this country. One thing I really believe would help is to BAN cell phones and texting while driving. They passed a law here that if you're under 18 you couldn't text and drive. But it's OK if you're over 18?
