  1. Ta - Da ... Maybe a pacifier that looks like a wheel and tire..
  2. I'm pretty sure the Olds was a bigger car, especially the 98. Not sure about the 88 Olds. I had a 1949 Olds 98 many, many years ago,and it was a big car. More like a Buick or Caddy. Swapping in the Olds one piece windshield was popular back then.
  3. Wow,that 60's styling sure was....different. I can't figure out why so many people painted the chassis silver. I've bought a few 'projects' and they were painted like that. Trying to look like chrome?
  4. @John; yes thank you, basically it is what I had in mind, it's just that my drawing skills are not good. I am still thinking of the right composition, but I have a global idea for that. A family portrait, right?
  5. I've wonder about that too, Harry. Like this? Just to be different I guess.
  6. OK,this is a quick and dirty version. Is this what you had in mind? I need to put a 'smile' on the grille when I figure it out.
  7. Nice article. Gee,I don't know why a 1/20th scale Packard ambulance wasn't popular with young boys in the 50's. At $3.95,who wouldn't want one? That was a lot of money back then. I'd like to see one myself.
  8. What kind of cars or should I say 'Cars did you have in mind? Like having the baby represented by a Fiat 500?
  9. That's too bad Harry. You don't have a full-time work bench where you can leave the stuff out?
  10. Fast and Furious meets the Dukes of Hazzard...
  11. Great thread! It's nice to see some of these old kits I used to have. I got rid of all of my old models when I was in my early 20's and moving on (and out).
  12. I don't have cable any more,so I haven't seen it in a while, but there was one episode where Frank(?) bought and old Plymouth or Dodge and it was barely worth what he paid for it.
  13. super build and detailing! Great photos too.
  14. Yeah $20 for a kit from the 60's seems pretty cheap. Unless they were missing a lot of parts. I suppose they were going to sell them for $50. (or so they say)
  15. I never did like red styrene. I don't really collect boxes either. white reissue for me.
  16. Thanks guys!
  17. Thanks TJ!
  18. 'What Lies Beneath' This is what most guys see when they look at an old junker. A bit of tromp l'oeil,or 'fool the eye' This is all graphite and charcoal pencil.
  19. I've gone both ways on this. I've bought some built models because I needed a base to build something I wanted. There's been a couple that were only good for parts . Several years ago,I bought an AMT 60 Chevy pickup that was built. It was complete and built as a mild custom/service truck. I displayed it for a while and sold it again. It was so cool I didn't want to change it. I've never bought any great customs like you've shown here. Those are time capsules..
  20. MPC Deora kit has a chrome one. Don't know how it compares to the Lindberg kits.
  21. Very philosophical, Buzzard..
  22. Unfortunately, people like this family, started doing this years ago (well duh) They got them for little or nothing. They figure that if they hang on to them long enough, the cars will be worth a lot of money and be their retirement. Fast forward 20 -30 years and these once fairly nice cars are now sinking in to mother earth. This is the part that I really don't get. They don't seem to notice! It's like the cars still look the same to them. And yet they still won't sell them. Those Corvettes might look good, but who knows what the frame is like. And I've seen what happens to a convertible once the top starts leaking. it ain't pretty.. End of rant..
