  1. Right you are! I was about 18 when I did this, and not really serious about it - yet. I have some going back to when I was 7 or 8 years old. 1960? Very 2 dimensional. I hadn't drawn using perspectives yet.
  2. In honor of the latest reissue of this kit, I dug up an old drawing I did-probably when the kit was new. This was the first big rig kit I ever built. I loved the box art painting, so I made this crude rendering with pencil. Thanks for looking!
  3. I didn't really know where to put this question,so I'm posting it here. I was curious about the value of the mariner blue 50 Chevy pickup promo. #6287EO When I look on evilbay, all I see are cream ones. The blue ones aren't that rare are they? I don't remember paying that much for it. Thanks for any info.
  4. Thanks Michael! It's varied over the years, and this is an old one. Lately,I've been using Kimberly 2B to 6B pencils I get from Dick Blick. The best eraser I've found is the Factis Black 18 ,that they also sell.
  5. OK,this is from an older 'unwrapped' kit with a few parts missing, but it's still the same parts as always. Keystone mags, 2 chrome wheels, etc. Here's a better pic of the glass, too.
  6. Yep. Even the headlights.
  7. I love the smell of styrene in the morning. Just got the latest AMT 57 Chevy - Pepper Shaker. This kit will be very familiar to those of you who have built the original 60's version ,and the many reissues after that. The decals have been upgraded, and there are 2 sprues of clear parts, one that is tinted a light green. It has AMT's wide whitewalls and a set of hollow Good year printed slicks. Molded in white, with lots of chrome parts. The instructions are pretty much the same, but the paper seems really thin.
  8. Does anyone know when this is coming out? The 57 Chevy Pepper Shaker is out already. (ordered one.)
  9. Do you post these on The HAMB? They look familiar. Nice striping!
  10. Very nice! I like the different techniques.
  11. Thanks Bill. For me,it's mostly the suspension. They sit way too high, and the tires are too wide for the body. I shaved the back of the wheels and the backing plate to get the smaller tires on it.Not a great kit,but it is 40 years old. I've owned a few Datsun trucks,so I know how 'off' this kit is.
  12. This was built mostly straight from the box. I did modify the suspension to lower it ,and used smaller front tires. The rears are from a mid 80's Corvette. I made my own decals, since I didn't like the kit ones, and they fell apart, too. The body is Tamiya white.
  13. I saw a Model T wrecker at Auburn once, and it had a hand crank. The ratio was probably 10 to 1.
  14. Great model! I've seen pics of those. Was that lift mechanical, with no pto? That had to be fun...

    Auto Art

I see you prefer the oldies. Very nice detailing. What mediums do you use?
  16. Very cool! Kind of like my drawing in the Auto Art section.
  17. I've only been doing this for about 60 years.. Thanks to Jon Gnagy for the lessons on perspective.. Yes, I used charcoal pencils, too.
  18. Thanks! Yes it would. I've tried charcoal a few times lately with mixed results. It's not as forgiving as pencil.
  19. This is an early drawing from the 70's. It's pencil on poster board.
  20. It's on Ebay now! Just under $30 w/ shipping.
  21. Very nice! I see you like doing front ends and grilles too.
  22. Really nice!
  23. very cool - and different. I like it!
  24. Really nice! Love the detail work.
