  1. Nice! Those wheels look good on there. And now you can have your workbench back!
  2. Well ,I just got the 50 Ford 'Showboat' kit today. Yeah,I know....Too many kits as it is.. Does anyone know if the gasser front suspension will fit on the 49 coupe? It should ,since the frame are very similar.
  3. I feel your pain. I have one of these to build someday. And I know about the polishing. I had the 82 Collector Edition, abd it was like polishing a real car. Patience,grasshopper...
  4. But does it have the Carson top? They made it into a half top after the first issue for some reason. I'll check it out.. Thanks
  5. Here is another one of my paintings. This is done on illustration board and is 18" x 24" I sold this one several years ago. I probably shouldn't have. I just hope they're enjoying it.
  6. I know what you mean about the Goodyears. I have a few sets of those around here. They don't even fit on the 49 Ford. I think that maybe they are trying to 'back date' the kit to give it a 60's vibe. Things like the box art that get the attention of the old guys (like me) that are still building models. All I can say is 'Thank You' to Round 2 and AMT. Now,lets see the '50 Ford convertible in a Retro Deluxe with all of the original parts - except for the ugly wheel covers. lol
  7. Thanks Tom. I have so,e others that I will post at a later date. One is a red ]60 Corvette similar to this. You can see the photographer reflected in the chrome.
  8. A R/C camper? Who would've thought? Yeah,an old MPC Datsun pickup,or even the Revell Datsun would work, too. I'm thinking they used the long wheelbase chassis ,too. So that would have to be stretched.
  9. I use artist's acrylic white gesso. It dies flat and quick. It usually takes 2 coats.
  10. Thanks Kevin! It's kind of an odd size, 26"W x 20"H.
  11. LOL That's a new one on me! I'll have be careful the next time I paint outdoors....
  12. Nope. That's what I wanted instead of the custom wheels, but that's OK. They show up on The Bay from time to time.
  13. Thanks guys! I read an article a few years back about one of the artists who worked for GM in the 50's and 60's. remember ,they didn't use photos of the actual cars back then, just paintings. He was talking about the art director at one of his earliest studios. He said that the art director swore that chrome only reflected in black and white! Excuse me?
  14. Look at what I got today! The box art is great! I didn't know it came with whitewall cheater slicks, too. did they come with some other kits, like the '36 Ford? Of course it has the red tinted 'glass' ,with red headlight lenses. Decals look good, with a lot of team sponsors. There are 2 sets of custom wheels, along with the steelies. There's only one metal axle. It has plastic pins for the front. Molded in white, the rest of the kit looks pretty much the same. The instructions seem 'downsized' and a little cheap. This is my first kit review, and I hope it helps.
  15. I've noticed that no one has posted on here for a while. Thought I'd post my Cadillac painting I did. It's acrylic on Masonite. It's kind of a study in chrome. Thanks for looking!
  16. Yes,that would make a great diorama. You'll need a lot of 1/25th figures, looking or waving their arms.
  17. Nice build! They sure take up the workbench, don't they?
  18. Why would anyone steal a car like that? it would be a little obvious what it was. You couldn't drive it or show it to anyone. Strange....
  19. Yes there is. I was searching 'AMT 49 Ford' and it didn't show up. So I tried 'AMT 1949 Ford Gas Man',and there they were! I snatched one up ,too!
  20. Am I missing something here? I looked again on Ebay, and the only one with the 49'er boxart ,like the one on the first post ,is a junkyard kit for $34.95 that's been there for weeks. I see several ones with the 'Street Rods' boxart, but isn't that the old issue from years ago?
  21. Hey Casey, I went to Hobby Town USA's site and couldn't find it. No AMT kits at all actually. Maybe they're working on the site. I tried some other places and all they had was the older kit with the black car on the box. Nothing on Ebay yet either.
  22. I guess mine would be a Monogram Futurista from 1965. I have the box and instructions, along with the store display that I made.
  23. I saw a Dr Cranky video about a year ago where he was showing the Tamiya glue. I tried it,and it is good stuff!
  24. Thank you for posting this.
