Yes,I just bought a sheet of new improved chrome. Even with a new blade,it tears easier and has a jagged edge.It looks OK when it's finally on there, but not like it used to be.
It's not that I'm that crazy about those wheels,it's just that they came with that issue. It sounds like there's going to be a lot of other cool stuff in the kit, too. Red tinted glass,2 sers of slicks, and wide whites.
Oh,there's nothing really wrong with the mag wheels ,I just wanted something different. Chrome wheels, slot mags ,whatever. The original had spinner hubcaps which I liked.
I saw this on The Bay,but it's the old kit. Is this the one that's being reissued?
If it is,it probably won't have those custom wheels. Probably the same old 5 spokes.. Nice art...
There was one with a 64 Impale,a 58 Impala and a 57 Bel Air from AMT. Don't forget the race teams. Chevy van, trailer and a Chevelle - Red Alert I believe. 64 Ford Galaxie, trailer and a 65(?) Falcon.
Here's a couple of scans of the instructions for the 'Diamond' 40 Ford sedan. The instructions don't mention the custom parts for the sedan, but they are there. The windows are all separate pieces, not one piece like the kit. That's why it tells you what they are. I would like to see 2 of these kits to compare the damage to the fenders. I used to work in a factory that had a plastic molding division, and you can set the press to eject the parts before they are cooled properly. I've been wondering if that's how the 'damage was done. The body and interior are untouched. The front bumper is bent and missing a guard. could be done before plating. That way they didn't have to make new molds!
Yes,it had parts like that. It couldn't be built as a new or restored car though. Seems strange they would make special molds and only use them once. Maybe they thought it wouldn't sell.
The Diamond In The Rough 40 Ford has all the custom parts too, and can be built as a '39. but I don't recall the derelict version ever issued by itself. For that matter, had the DITR multi kit ever been reissued?
I wonder ( I hope) if the 49 Ford will be a 'Retro Deluxe' kit with the spinner hubcaps, original decals and pad printed whitewalls? That would be sweet..
The only triple kit That I know of that would be different is the AMT 'Diamond In The Rough' Kit. It has the '53 Ford pickup ,a standard AMT Blueprinter trailer and a '40 Ford sedan, which as far as I know was never released by itself. (Why?) The sedan has dented fenders, bent bumpers and broken windows. I think it was only released once. I'm lucky enough to have one.
nice review, I just got mine the other day. And I found an original Ala Kart parts car. And a set of Fred Cady decals. Now I can build the Model A,The Mod Rod (Love the black one) and the Ala Kart.
I'm glad I bought the last reissue Big Deuce when I did. Prices on it are still crazy. I,for one. never really cared for the Lindberg kits. The Extreminator was kind of interesting, but I never bought one. The others looked too 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang for me. I remember watching an old Gumby cartoon tears ago ,and he was driving a Lindberg T bucket. I guess he was too big to fit in a 'Big T'.
