  1. I just watched Jay Leno's Garage (youtube) review of a beautifully restored 63 Corvette. He and the restorer/owner called them hubcaps
  2. It's been a long time ago,but it seems to me they were actually nice kits. No chrome though. And I think they're curbsides (no engine)
  3. Does this have printed whitewalls or just the slicks? Looks good, love the old decals.
  4. I'll take one of the Lufthansa buses. Very cool.
  5. Wasn't there some resin bodies available for that kit? Like a Nomad or something?
  6. I didn't know the Batmobile had a trailer! lol.
  7. I was around back then when those Corvettes were new. Mag wheels were just catching on and becoming readily available. They were still pretty expensive for most people. The majority of 'hot' cars had white walls, black wheels with baby moons or chrome reverse wheels. If you had mag wheels on your car in '63,you were really cool. Watch American Graffiti, the black '55 Chevy has chrome reverse wheels,as well as Milner's coupe. The GM factory offered the knock-off aluminum wheels, but from what I've read they didn't work well at first. Air leaks and things like that. And they were $$$$$.
  8. Thanks Casey. Too bad they couldn't include printed whitewalls and stock hubcaps.
  9. Thanks for posting this. But what is the other 63 Corvette coupe kit I see on the Bay? It has 'USA' decals on it. I suppose it's basically the same kit.
  10. I like the model ,but the real -uh-thing is just wrong in so many ways. nice build!
  11. Very cool and a great build! Love it!
  12. Very nice ,guys! I've used PE buckles with good results. Made some from styrene ,too. Yeah,I can see how the shoulder belts would be a problem.A lot of people back then (60's -70's) didn't use them,so they stayed above the windows on the headliner.
  13. I've been thinking about this for a while. How come the model companies never put seat belt buckles in kits? just the latch part. The belts are easy to make out of masking tape or ribbon. The ones in the early AMT kits would have been about 3" thick in reality. Opinions?
  14. Sweet! IMHO ,still one of the best looking pickups - ever. Too bad Ford can't 'retro' their trucks like they did the Mustang.
  15. How does the AMT Willys compare to the Revell SW&C Willys.? I've never bought the AMT kit. The Revell kit is nice ,but can be a challenge.

Sweet! Glad to see it done! I know what you mean about finding the time.
  17. Yes,in that Stooges short with the 36 Ford , you don't actually see it get wrecked. The camera goes to bystanders ,and you hear tires screech ,they flinch and cover the eyes. It still kind of hurts to see that car. but it would be like wrecking a Honda in a new movie.
  18. Right you are on all counts. some of those early cartoons weren't really made for kids. Watch some early Betty Boop with Bimbo. They're just strange. I love 'em. LOL
  19. When I hear 'Little Deuce Coupe' , I always think of the Silver Sapphire because it was on the album cover. The Beach Boys weren't really 'car guys'. Dennis Wilson was the only one who could surf. Carl Wilson had some nice cars later on,but he probably didn't work on them.
  20. Gah! I just ran out of eye bleach!
  21. Yes,I'll admit it. I watch the Stooges,Rocky & Bullwinkle,Little Rascals,Marx Brothers, and the occasional Popeye cartoon.. I've noticed one thing in common. The early ones seemed funnier.
  22. LOL Now that's a short wheelbase! Ira does it again!
  23. nice! I always liked the look of that car -plane?
  24. I have a Fireball 500 kit for such an occasion.
