  1. Very well done, Rich - impressive model of Jim Hall's legendary racer. 24 tiny photo-etch fasteners : OMG ! I think you matched the color really well: I'm not sure which white will be the best for my Fujimi (= Modeler) 2D and Arii's 2 C - both in my stash: I have 2 Chaparral books, and the color pics show all kinds of white: from a very cold white up to the warm, creamy tone that Tamiya's racing white has. An airbrush would come handy here.
  2. Perfect, Mario ! Looks like Christine is sitting in the dark waiting for her next victim...
  3. Perfect model, Thomas; concerning the the EM kit, it IS possible to glue the lower front body part before painting. I did that more than 30 years ago (this is the result: Installation of the chassis was a bit tricky, but doable ( I followed the instructions with this one)
  4. Thanks, Gary - here is the " Ferodo decal photo" I mentioned above (from Alan Henry's book "Ferrari Prototypes 1962 - 73):
  5. My second 1/18 racing car model: In 1971 Ferrari tested, developed and raced (without much luck) their new 3 –ltr. prototype, the 312 PB, and in 1972 the preparation finally paid off: they won all races they participated but left out Le Mans, thinking their car which was more or less a F 1 car with a slightly detuned engine in a sportscar body could not stand the stress of a 24 hr. race (Daytona was shortened from 24 to 6 hrs. that year). So Matra had their first Le Mans victory, everything else was won by Ferrari (2 or 3 works cars took part in each race) with a team of world-class drivers: Mario Andretti , Jacky Ickx, Clay Regazzoni, Ronnie Peterson, Brian Redman, Arturo Merzario, Tim Schenken and even rally ace Sandro Munari who took the laurels at the Targa Florio together with Arturo Merzario where Ferrari only entered a single car beating a whole armada of Alfa Romeos. Some years ago, I could buy one at a sale – it is the 1000 km Monza winning car of Jacky Ickx/Clay Regazzoni - highly detailed model with perfect proportions, but gmp sometimes overdid it a bit: the tire markings – less would have been more, and the fabric of the seats is out of scale (similar to CMC). They truly strived for perfection: the damaged “Ferodo” decal is no mistake, but looks exactly like on the real car (I have a pic in one of my books showing this). Anyway, enjoy the pics of the last great Ferrari prototype.
  6. There is also a stock version available in British Racing green or in a shade of metllic gold, Gary. I was tempted first, but refused to buy, as I also have the Danbury Mint version in Metallic Red. Here are the colors: https://www.carmodel.com/search?keyword=MOTOR-MAX+-+ASTON+MARTIN+-+DB5+1963&order=&resultsPerPage=&priceorder=&country=&scale=all&nuOb=&trademark=&year=&brand=&mat=&price=
  7. Fantastic model of an awesome truck, Jürgen - period perfect paint scheme and top photography, as we are used from you.
  8. Very nice model of one of the most beautiful sportscars ever - Giallo Fly (yellow) is the best choice for the Dino 246 - I painted mine in the same color in the 90's (EM kit).
  9. This morning I was going to my dentist and in the lane beside me there was a car transporter loaded with some new cars and the following 3 classics from the 50's and 60's: Jaguar XK140 FHC, Series 1 E-Type and Porsche 356 Speedster . I never expected to see such cars here - unfortunately no photos (I was on my way to a tooth extraction), but this sight really made my day!
  10. Thanks, guys, for your comments.
  11. This will be another outstanding model, Thierry (I do have it in my stash also, bought the very first release, will build it some day but won't get that far like you). Another famous car belonged to former motorcycle and F1 champion, John Surtees, who got a 507 as a present from his former boss, Conte Agusta, when winning the bike world championship on MV Agusta in 1956. He kept the car all his life, and when he died a few years ago, it has been sold (at an auction, I believe).
  12. Tim, model looks much better after all the modifications, especially the stance and the dimensions of the wheels. Someday I will tackle mine also - it just doesn't look correct (stnce too high, wheels too small):
  13. It doesn't get any better than this, Steven - this is among the most beautiful American car kits I ever saw on the internet - color combination (interior and body) is mindblowing.
  14. Once again you took the utmost out of an old, slightly misproportioned kit, Mario and made it look perfect - together with your excellent photography - great!
  15. Another exceptional model, Thierry - I never would have the skill or patience for this not-so-easy-kit so I sold mine off when I had the chance to buy the PMA 1/24 diecast.
  16. Another wonderful built from you - looks like the real thing! A fitting tribute to the late John Fitch and this rather forgotten car (everybody mentions the winning SLR of Moss/Jenkinson adn this is often overseen)
  17. Another fantastic model of a classic French car from a long gone make, Thierry.
  18. Superbe, Thierry ! Marvellous model of one of the "Grandes routières" - looks perfect.
  19. Very nice model, David - the interior changes really pay off well (might take the same approach, as I have it in my stash, too) - just a question: are the exhaust pipes really that long?
  20. Super nice Ford France version of the Cobra Daytona coupé with painful attention to all the details, David - very well done!
  21. Very nice renditions of the Lindberg Cobras, Gary - the '64 Daytona version as well as the Filipinetti car - your attention to the details alsways pays off!
  22. Fantastic model of this iconic racecar - Mario would be proud!
  23. After 3 years of mostly disappointing results with their 12-cylinder against Ferrari and Matra, Alfa Romeo retracted from the sports car world championship at the end of 1974 – as a company in state property, they could not justify their expenses anymore facing economic problems due to labor strikes in Italy and the world-wide oil crisis. Willy Kauhsen, just retired ex-Porsche race and test driver, persuaded them to hand him over a few cars, engines, gearboxes, some mechanics and a budget and he would campaign the 1975 championship, seeing a good chance for winning. So WKRT (Willy Kauhsen Racing Team) was born, after the first win Campari came on board as a sponsor for the team and it actually won the 1975 world championship, albeit against weak opposition: Ferrari had left the scene after the 1973 season, Matra retired at the end of 1974. Alfa Romeo did not attend Le Mans, so this was won by the Gulf Mirage team (Jack Ickx/Derek Bell). AutoArt made an excellent, highly detailed 1/18 model of this car in its signature series (3 versions): the best-looking version is the white-nosed 1000 km Spa-Francorchamps winning car of Derek Bell/Henri Pescarolo. It is one of their very best models - enjoy the pictures (the rear view mirror sits 2 - 3 mm too high - but if I had pressed it into the body as I should, it would not have been possible to put it back in its protecting box again):
  24. Super realistic model, Mario, in a stunning setting - the lighting is the icing on the cake! (Even my wife was very much impressed)
