This is one I started last summer. Since my workbench was downstairs, it survived the fire. I removed all the emblems save for the V8 logo on the fenders and extended the taillight pods with aluminum tubing and Bondo. The headlights were frenched and the car was shot with a Plasti- Kote color called Brook Blue. The interior was built box stock save for some custom mixed flocking. The chassis recieved lowering blocks on the rear axle and the front suspension components were drilled and pinned to create posable steering. The drilled rotrs are from an XS wheel and tire set. The wheels are from the Revell '50 Ford pickup with tires from the '72 Cutlass. I used the Ardun conversion from the pickup and fitted a high rise manifold with carbs from the Thunderbolt. The whole thing is topped off with an air cleaner from the parts box. I know the distributor is wrong now- I stupidly used the box art model as reference because I couldn't find the instructions for the pickup. Oops.
Its raining today, so I decided to put the top up.
Actually, the '72 Torino went to a full frame- the '70 is unitized. Your best bet for the chassis would be the Model King release of the '71 Thunderbird. They're the same wheelbase (114").
Not a big fan of the Bug (slow, noisy, cold in the winter), but I have always had a soft spot for the Ghia. BTW, what model is in pics 85 & 86? Looks very '60's Italian.
Nice job on the Mustang. I especially like the color. When I was 14, Dad and I went to the Ford dealer in Ortonville to buy a new car. I got to help with the color selecion for a '69 Fairlane wagon. For the Fairlane, the color was called Indian Bronze.
I have an Epiphone Les Paul. Unfortunately, both my hundred watt Fender and Marshall practice amp (along with a Crybaby and Ibanez Tube Screamer) got toasted in a house fire.
Hmmmm....The '60 Starliner sees a lot of duty as a chassis donor for several early- sixties Fords. I also like the '65 Galaxie for kitbashing the chassis with late- sixties Fords. I also like to do kitbashes with the '97- era F-150, as the variations are almost endless.
'64 Mercury with chassis and floorpan from the Starliner.
Model King '71 Thunderbird chassis with front suspension and rear axle from the '65 Galaxie.
...which wound up with the Allison Thunderland body.
'66 Mercury with chassis from '65 Galaxie. (RIP- fire victim).
About four years ago, I snapped so bad that I was finding small odds and ends around the apartment for the next few months. Earlier this year, I snapped so bad trying to find one misplaced piece that I felt like a complete wreck for about a week. And this is just a hobby (don't ask how well I've been dealing with everything that got burned).
