  1. Success . I was going to say she should be glad you're not out carousing every night.
  2. Pretty much for the same reason that Revell calls their '59 Skyliner a 'Galaxie'. It's a Fairlane 500 (the Galaxie name not appearing on the car, which tells me it was built before the Galaxie series was introduced and usurped the Skyliner). They also call the '89 T- Bird SC an 'SC Coupe'. No, dummies- it's a Thunderbird SC (the SC standing for 'Super Coupe'.
  3. Something inside me wants Trumpeter to succeed. I want to see some variety on the shelves at Rider's or Dean's, and I'm hoping they can pull off a home run with the Falcon. The two issues I had with the Monte were that the wheel openings are too big, and the 'small block' Chevy looks to be the size of a Cummins diesel. At least their stuff is more workable than say, the old Palmer (no relation, thankfully) monstrosities. Hopefully, all the engineers were working in the same scale this time....
  4. Mine has the 3.1, and combined city and highway is 23 mpg. If I drove freeway miles exclusively, 30 mpg would not be out of the question. The car only weighs 3300# (300 less than a new Mustang, 700 less than the new Camaro and Challenger, and 2500# less than a Tahoe. We've forgotten how to build rationally sized vehicles in this country for the last decade or so) Heck, my '84 Continental sedan (the baby Lincoln) with the 302 would pull down 26 mpg on the interstate.
  5. I still have my Pontiac. Just before Christmas I teraded off my Austin- Healey Sprite for a fresh engine in the Poncho. The guy I bought the car from did the swap, and I couldn't be happier. I look at it this way- it's a fifteen year old car with 140,000 on the clock. I now have an engine with 90,000 miles. It looks good, drives and rides nice, handles well, I average 23 mpg (that K&N filter really works!) and best of all, it's paid for. Last fall I had a new stereo put in that's MP3 compatable. Now I can carry my entire collection of CD's in a device that's the size of a saltine.
  6. Gasoline at 28 cents a gallon? Who'da thunk?....
  7. "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public." "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public." H. L. Mencken
  8. Aha- a proto- K5 Blazer. Where'd you get those tail lights?
  9. Great work on your Ford. Love everything about it- color, stance, the whole shabang.
  10. So now he's stuck in the dirt...
  11. Get well, Terry. Brian Vickers had to sit out most of last season because of clots. I hope you're not sidelined as long.
  12. My name is Harold, and I'm a hoarding modelholic.
  13. The AMT '56 and '57 Fords both have great Y- blocks. The one in the evergreen '57 Thunderbird is all chrome, but is only so- so. The one in AMT's '56 Thunderbird is a tad too short, but it has the Fordomatic transmission ('56 or '57 block with this trans would be an interesting combo that's rarely seen in models- a V8 with an automatic).
  14. I plan on taking the plunge and buying a food dehydrator. I've seen diagrams for one on this board, but any input from my friends would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance...on a lighter note, I can't believe its been 4 years and two days since I joined. How time flies.
  15. Really nice (but the turn signals aren't amber)
  16. Revell '65 Impala Convert ($8 at Dean's- got home and found a bonus MCG detail set in the box) '56 Nomad '89 Grand Prix Turbo '96 Firebird '67 Fairlane GT '69 Hurst Olds '72 Cutlass convert Mustang 3 car set ('93 Cobra, '96 convert, '69 fastback Club De Mer '65 Galaxie '61 Ford x2 '57 Chrysler '69 AMX
  17. Nice job on your Sky, er Sun..I mean Starliner, Bruce.
  18. Ford legally owns the rights to the F150 name. Its called 'copyright infringement', and its illegal (except in China, where the concept of intellectual property is non- existant) worldwide. Why do you thnk there were all those Oldsmobiles running around with the 'Ciera' badge. Its because Ford of Europe had the Sierra model in the eighties. Heck, I'd like to name my nascent band 'Procol Harum', but I'm sure I'd get a nasty letter from Gary Brooker's attorneys. If someone owns the name and won't give you the rights to use it, you can't use it. Hey Gregg- can I name my new publication 'Model Cars Magazine'? I didn't think so...
  19. I have this kit, but its the old Bonneville gussied up to look like the Ventura. The Ventura used the Catalina's B body, the Bonneville used the c body. The extra length is in the doors. Sounds like a job for Captain Razorsaw and his faithful sidekick Bondo. Like your Ponch, Chuck.
  20. Sweet .
  21. Nice bunch of vehicles. I love the '67 Ford, and in contrast to your other trucks, the COE is startlingly clean.
  22. Hey Ed- I didn't know you weren't well (ok, in the physical sense ). Here's to a speedy recovery.
