  1. I went back last night and pawed through my stash of Collectible Automobile. The Dodge 880 is in the December 2006 issue, not June. Sorry for any inconvenience. Keep us posted on your Chrysler, Terry .
  2. Nice. Dodge did have a big car halfway through the '62 model year. The dealers were livid that there was no big Dodge, so Chrysler did a down and dirty. By grafting the '61 Polara clip onto the Newport body, using the Polars dash and a hodgepodge of trim pieces, they created the Custom 880 for the total sum of $400,000. The next year they plumped for a new front clip, and in '64 the car got a tail lift. There's a sidebar on Dodge's Police Package for '63 and '64. Check out the June (?) 2006 Collectible Automobile for the full story.
  3. Saw that episode last night. Has to be one of the funniest Seinfelds. Frank Costanza was always one of my favorite characters on the show. Of course, George getting busted with his 'Human Fund' (I think of that every time I see one of those idiot ads for 'The Foundation of a Better Life') and the $20,000 check is just as hysterical. A Festivus for the rest of us.
  4. If Trumpeter can have these at least as good as the Monte, it should be worth checking out. I haven't built the Nova or the Bonne, but I get the impression that they're going the right way on the learning curve. As long as the engine doesn't look like its 800 cubic inches, but, hey, I have enough Ford small blocks, big blocks and Modulars, so as long as everything else looks good, I'll buy into it.
  5. Nice job on your cruiser.
  6. Nice job. Maybe Ford should can J. Mays and hire you .
  7. There's a saying in racing- "Hands and feet follow the eyes". In other words, if you're looking at that snowbank or tree, that's where your car is going to go.
  8. Sweet. Is that in a '55-'57 T- Bird?
  9. That is too cool, Chuck. Just the thing to haul the Bug to the next rod meet .
  10. Nice pair of Torinos. Nice job .
  11. Wicked. Absolutely wicked. Not the kind of thing I'd want to see in the mirror when I'm driving my Sprite .
  12. Nice nice nice. I really like the burgundy color .
  13. Love that '40 Ford fordor. Nice bunch of builds .
  14. Looking good. I like the concept and the color .
  15. Great looking Dodge, George. Al Bundy would be proud .
  16. Those grand juries can go on forever- God only knows how long you'll impaneled. I know a couple here and the gal witnessed a hit and run. Well, this thing turned into a whole investigation involving people bringing in drugs, hookers and stolen cars from Chicago. Good luck.
  17. There you go- plead the fifth and start drinking from a fifth of Jack.
  18. Just follow George Carlin's advice, Harry. "Some people try to get out of jury duty by lying. You don't have to lie. Tell them the truth. Tell them you'll make a great juror because you can spot guilty people (snaps fingers) just like that." If that doesn't work, arrive at the courthouse with an aluminum foil hat and say you're trying to block out messages from the Mother Ship .
  19. You did these all this year? Wow! You really have some great builds there. My favorites are the '56 Nomad, the Cougar Eliminator and the Torino GT. Really really really nice .
  20. I wound up cutting the springs down both front and rear to get it down to a respectable ride height.
  21. The difference between the Lindberg flareside box and the Revell is that the 4x4 has fender where the Revell box, being a two- wheel drive, doesn't. Here's my Arctic Blue Lindberg 4x4, a brown F-150 2- wheel drive (modified from the Lightning) and the AMT short box with the Revell cab.
  22. I have the Monte and there are a few issues with the body. Namely, the wheel openings are too large, so you have to to a bit of surgery to get the floorpan to fit properly, and you have to shorten the interior panels a tad as a result. The engine looks to be about 850 cubes, so a parts box motor should do the trick (mine's got a V-6). Ditch the kit wheels and tires for some better ones- say from the AMT/MPC '80. I'm thinking of buying another just to use the floorpan and chassis under the '80. While its not the easiest kit I've ever done, it certainly isn't the worst. I just might slap some paint on 'er over the holidays and finish it up.
  23. Since I did mine as a US- spec car, I removed the marker lights behind the front fender opening.
  24. Great job on saving this car from the prince of donkness . Love the color, the wheels and everything else about it.
