  1. I like what I see- the 2-in-1 Thundserbird (I'll do a hardtop this time), the Skyliner (I want to kitbash one with the AMT Edsel) and a '48 coupe? Sweet .
  2. I kinda like it as it is now. If things get Balkanized too much, I might miss some killer builds. On the 'Other Site', there's too much division, and I'm not likely to go trawling through section after section. I also feel pickups should go along with cars (over 1- ton should be separate, however). Speaking of drink recipes, Harry, I used to bartend thirty years ago. I'd make you a drink, but I'm not sure how to get it to you through the computer .
  3. Revell reisued several of these kits a few years (less than 10) ago. Are you sure its not a reissue?
  4. Another candidate for the 3.8 would be the Revell 1990 Cougar XR-7.
  5. Looking good, Pat. The wheels and tires give it a real period look .
  6. The Willys is sweet, but I really like that Ford .
  7. No, Charlie, its a 1/25th scale kit. I was going to drop the Probe engine into it, but a couple parts are MIA (which is why the Probe got scavenged). Right now, the body is clear coated and curing (its been a week). Next week, I'll polish it out and do the final assembly. Also, guys, thanks for the complements. Ed, I'll get going back on the Packard in the next few weeks- I haven't forgotten about it .
  8. That color combo is a knockout. Will the side coves and rear insert be the same color as the top?
  9. Here's what I've been working on the last few months. This is the old Revell EXP that I bought at Dean's last year for five bucks. As far as Revell kits from that era go, this one actually hits its subject on the mark. The body was worked over to address panel lines, sink marks (only two small ones on the front fascia). Then I used some silver Dupli- Color I had kicking around for the base coat. Then I shot it with Testor's laquer (Not sure of the color name- I'll get back to eveyone on this). The wheels are Mustang TRX wheels I bought from the huge parts box at Dean's (two whole sets for a buck). I wasn't satisfied with the interior, and I had a Probe I'm parting out, so I used the back half of the EXP interior with the front from the probe. The color is Testor's Tan and Polly S Beige mixed 2/3- 1/3. The carpeting is brown flocking and there's a CD player and CD from a Detail Master radio face set. The bike and trailer are from the MPC '80 Monte Carlo, and both are painted the same color as the car. Aside from attaching the forks with a piece of straight pin, and a spotlight from a Lindberg '53 Ford to replace the kit headlight, its built staright from the box.
  10. That is one nice hot rod you got there, Chuck . I like the anything other than a Chevy engine in a Chevy approach (maybe I'll drag out that parts- box '63 'Vette and put a 4.6 mod motor in it ).

    My DSC6

Those are come nice builds, Brian, and congrats on the awards .
  12. Nice Olds (I always thought it would be fun to kitbash the body with a Revell Grand Prix to do a stocker).
  13. Nice, clean build. However, the burning leopards might upset peta . Great job.
  14. Absolutely, totataly stunning . First- rate conversion work, and an offbeat subject to boot.
  15. Thanks for the link, Ryan. And thanks for the input on the forward frame section, Jairus .
  16. Sounds like a plan- this might just be the impetus I need to finish my '84 T- Bird .
  17. Nice job, Bruce . Never knew you to build one almost straight from the box.
  18. That's one fine prairie schooner you got there. Nice color and execution .
  19. Nice pair o' Fords. I didn't know they had a '38 variant (I should get out more ).
  20. hryh8er hasn't added any friends yet (and he's not likely too, either).

  21. Ford started this nonsense in '66 with the addition of the Galaxie 500 7 Liter (428 cubes). They were heavily involved in international motorsports at the time, and were running the 427 (again, 7 liters) in the Ford GT Mk IV (they actually called the 428 the 428 even though it was actually 427, so as not to confuse it with their race motor). As for Ford calling the 302 the 5 liter (the 'point- 0' is silent.), was for SCCA Trans- Am racing (even though the engine is 55 cc's shy of 5,000), they just rounded up, as their big 6 for the trucks was, at 300 cubes, a 4.9.
  22. May I suggest a kitbash with the Revell Thunderbolt? That'll give you a nice, beefy, detailed chassis, engine compartment and 427 cubes of big- block power.
  23. Now that is different! As the owner of a BMC vehicle, ('68 Austin- Healey Sprite) I got a good chuckle. However, you forgot the pool of oil underneath, and the smoking Lucas electrics. . Nice work.
  24. Restore it. If it was built (poorly), do that Poncho justice.
  25. I was gone the last couple days (well, some say I've been gone for years ), so, once again , I miss out on the fun. But still, at $299, its like my man H.L. Mencken said, "No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public". Got your back, George.
