  4. Williams expecting Valtteri Bottas announcement this week Williams deputy team principal Claire Williams says an announcement about Valtteri Bottas' future is likely to be made in the coming week. Bottas is expected to move from Williams to Mercedes in order to fill the vacant seat left by reigning champion Nico Rosberg, who announced his retirement at the end of 2016. Williams has been seeking substantial remuneration in return for releasing Bottas from his 2017 contract, and it looks as though a deal will be confirmed in the next week. "It has been dragging on and I think everyone wants to know, probably more who is going to be Lewis [Hamilton's] team-mate next year, and of course whenever Nico made his announcement we knew the call was probably going to come from Toto [Wolff, Mercedes team boss]," Williams told Sky Sports. "It is a great opportunity for Valtteri and he has given a lot to Williams. We've always said if we can make this happen on terms that are positive for Williams then it is probably the right thing to do. "No-one needs or wants a driver in your team that really wants to be somewhere else. It is not nice either to stop a driver who has such a great opportunity, particularly at this point of Valtteri's career, but it has to work for Williams and that is what we've been working hard on over the past six weeks. We are nearly there, we are at the tail end of it and hopefully we'll be able to make an announcement this coming week. "But it has to be right for Williams, whatever we do will always be the right decision for Williams no matter what other people's opinions might be." Brazilian Felipe Massa is ready to postpone his retirement in order to fill the gap left by Bottas and complete the team's 2017 line-up alongside rookie Lance Stroll. Despite the complete u-turn on his retirement plans, Williams has no doubt that Massa is fully motivated for 2017. "Felipe's heart has always been in our sport," she added. "Everyone said that about him when he joined us, 'surely his time in F1 is over, he petered out at the end of his years at Ferrari', but he came to Williams and it seemed to be a great culture for him and he was a new driver. "I don't think he necessarily wanted to leave the sport and he did say he wanted to continue racing. These guys have been racing since they were six years old and it is in their DNA, that is what they do.
  5. Thanks Maxx. Yea I like the wheels much better this way.
  6. I decided a sand finish would be more period correct on the wheels. Jus hit them with some Tamiya gray primer. I'll leave the knock offs in the glossy metallic finish.
  7. Very nice.
  8. Raiders to file for Las Vegas move Posted by Mike Florio on January 14, 2017, 8:18 AM EST Getty ImagesOne of the strangest weeks in league history also wasn’t very surprising. With no viable stadium plans in their current towns, the Chargers and Raiders have each taken the available steps to move. For one franchise, it was automatic; for the other, most boxes need to be checked. As widely expected over the course of the past several months, NFL Media has reported (i.e., the NFL has announced) that the Raiders will file a request for relocation from Oakland to Las Vegas. If 23 of the 31 other franchises approve of the move, the Las Vegas Raiders eventually will be born. According to the Bay Area News Group, Sands casino owner Sheldon Adelson still may not be involved in the birth. Goldman Sachs will bridge the gap between team, league, and taxpayer commitment and the expected cost of a $1.9 billion stadium in Las Vegas, if a deal can’t be struck with Adelson, who has been driving a hard bargain with Raiders owner Mark Davis for weeks. Last year, lawmakers in Nevada approved $750 million for the project. The enormous contribution of public money will make it difficult if not impossible for the league to embrace a city that, for decades, it had shunned. The requirement of 24 votes to approve the move means that only nine teams can come together and kill it. There’s currently no momentum among the owners, however, to build a coalition large enough to block the move — especially since any effort to do so could spark another round of antitrust litigation with the team that successfully won a legal battle when the league tried to block its move to Los Angeles more than 30 years ago. As some have suggested, the move to Las Vegas could reinforce the status of the Raiders as the most popular team in Los Angeles, even though the Rams and Chargers are both headquartered there.

  13. Fifteen limited edition Sebring Cobras to debut at Scottsdale Fifteen limited edition Sebring Cobras will be debuted at the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, on Saturday by Shelby American and Superformance, the leading manufacturer of 1960s era continuation sports cars. The turn-key Cobras are configured the exact same way they were for the 12 hours of Sebring back in 1963 and 1964 and will be sold for race application. Each Cobra will be made available in the livery of one of four former race drivers: Ken Miles, Dan Gurney, Allen Grant and Dave MacDonald. In order to get them as exact as possible to the originals, the engineers examined the differences between each of the original cars and consulted Grant, as well as MacDonald’s son Rich and his two personal mechanics. A matching commemorative Baume & Mercier watch will come with each Cobra. “We’re very excited to partner with Shelby and Baume-Mercier for the release of the special edition Sebring Cobra Roadster and matching watch,” said Superformance CEO Lance Stander. “The Sebring Cobras are extremely unique and we can’t think of a better way to commemorate Carroll and the iconic Shelby American team drivers.” While other powertrain options are available, the recommended power source is a period-correct 289cid cast iron block and heads making 435hp. Visit www.Superformance.com or www.Shelby.com for more information or to place an order on one of the limited edition Cobras. Sebring Cobra featuring Dave MacDonald’s livery. (Photo: Superformance)
  14. I converted a utility closet in the basement into my work shop. It's a bit of a dungeon but its all mine.
  15. That's really cool Steve - thanks for sharing it! I'm sure they get a bunch of weird old Cobra and Scarab fanatics (like myself) milling around the building. Between Reventlow and Shelby that building produced a lot of racing history!
  16. Beemax is creating some very exciting race/rally cars!
  17. Since I haven't been able to fabricate a stone guard, at least not to my satisfaction I'm not building the car as it ran at Sebring. I am building it as it appeared later in '63. This series of (3) cars came to be know as "Sebring Cars", therefore the reference to Sebring in the thread title.

No progress on the build but found a video you all might enjoy.
  19. I use both brands Maxx but used Evergreen in this case.
  20. Dump pipes: I like to use solid rod to make my pipes and headers. Rod won't collapse like tubing does when you bend it. I used 3.2mm in this case which scales out to about 4" in 1/25 scale.
  21. So the owner of the Chargers is moving the team to LA because San Diego won't build him a new stadium with tax payer's money. Dose the NFL's greed have no limit?
  22. I thought you liked Cobras.
  23. Your gauge is excellent.
