  1. Here I have added some chassis pan detail to the trunk, sorry Shay, I mean the boot floor.
  2. Thanks Martin. I've been watching your New Beetle custom - very nice. I'm sure you've heard that Belkits is releasing an Mk1 by the end of year. Got have a few of those.
  3. Thanks Randy & Gene. The engine bay of the car I am building is white. In fact I believe the engine bay on all the works car where white. That would have required some difficult masking work so I cut part of the cowl loose from the body and attached it to the chassis.
  4. Thanks Shay. Thanks Mike
  5. Here is most of the exhaust system. Still need to add the muffler.

  7. Turned out very nice Tim, good work.
  8. The turbo certainly affects the volume level but I think the bigger issue is the fuel usage restriction. In order to meet this they must turn the engine revs down. I want to say they are "only" revving to 15,000 RPM. The V8s where restricted to maximum rev limit of 20,000 RPM.
  9. Thanks Joe. Here is a low resolution 3D printing of the wheel/tire we did so we could check size. We may tweak the tire to make it slightly taller but other than that I am pretty happy with the size. Once I get the final version of the wheels and tires I will make final stance adjustments. The front end is a little too high in these pictures.
  10. Turned out great Steve.
  11. Here is the version from the the three car gift set. It is the same kit with the exception of being molded in red plastic in lieu of yellow.
  12. I have only owned the stock version of the kit but to the best of my knowledge the only difference between it and the racing version is the cut down windscreen and the decals. And unless they are creating new tooling for the kit (most unlikely) Minilites and flared wheel arches won't be included. Yes the windscreen frame is extremely delicate. I have never built it box stock but with some kit bashing and effort it can be built into a nice replica.
  13. Ace-Garageguy has been banging the drum on these engines for a long time so I finally decided to build one - the Ford 427. These engines are dismissed I believe because they are smothered in chrome. However once you strip the chrome away the detail is reveled. If you could get the clear undercoat off they would be even more impressive. If Revell would issue them in bare plastic these engine kits might finally get the respect they deserve.
  14. Thanks Gene. The oil filter is from the Revell Parts Pack 427 engine kit. It is an engine mounted unit. I modified it with some hex rod and brass rod to resemble a remote mounted unit. Thanks Joe your Challenger T/A is turning out great.
  15. With a little help from my fellow Escort brethren I was able to sort out the oil cooler position. Unusual that it is installed vertically. The oil lines will pass through the hole in the bulkhead. The remote oil filter is the object below the chassis.
  16. The very few original engine pictures I have found show the cam cover either black or unfinished so I have not yet decided. I may go with a titanium gold color for the oil pan (sump).
  17. Thanks Tommy. I really like building engines. Wish someone would resin cast a BDA. I am only using (5) kit parts, the complete block, head and oil pan could be cast as one piece, then cast the carburetors and the header and you have a nice (3) piece engine kit.
  18. Thanks Marcos. I hope to make the meeting.
  19. Nice scratch building. What did you use for the header collectors - heat shrink?
  20. Very nice. I'll bet the decals were fun.
  21. Looking good Joe. The blacked out cowl is sharp.
  22. Thanks Joe. I surprised myself by how well the fan turned out. After the blades setup a bit I flowed some additional liquid cement (Testors) around them and they are surprisingly strong.
