  1. You sure have your hands full with this project, that truck is rather rough.....but it is not impossible or beyond your reach. I have wanted to build the dragster "part" of this combo for some time now, so I see why you want to do it. I am sure you will find a way to finish this up. Go get it.
  2. There is nothing I can add to what has already been said about this project.....the idea, the execution and workmanship are all first rate. I don't care much for rats, but this is going to be really cool. Great job, superior metal work. You gotta' be loving this!
  3. For the rear, the easiest thing to do is to separate the rear axle from the springs and place a spacer between the axle and the springs. I actually did that to my "real" MGB. It was a kit used on MGB's for street and track to lower the car without replacing the springs. This will work on the model kit too. As for the front, without seeing the actual kit set-up, I would try repositioning the front wheel attachment point higher up on the wheel pinion. That should have the effect of lowering the front end.
  4. Very nice Curt,...I really like the soft powder blue color on that one. I really like the 4 webers...I have to get one of those manifolds from Norm...it looks great on the small block. I have the "Replica's" chopped '32 Ford (converted from the Orange Crate body)sedan body....I plan on doing it with pastel green, so it will be similar to your beauty here.
  5. Pretty cool space...I really like how you have a picture over the sink area....makes you feel that you are overlooking the ocean? Enjoy it!
  6. Come on John....you are just in a rut now.....and it is getting a little tiring...... all you ever do is scratch-build unique cars, or bikes, to the highest level with perfect paint jobs time and time again. And then if that is not enough, you do this all in record time. Don't you ever get tired of performing at this level all the time? Having said that....very impressive work, yet again! Oh yeah, I think you still owe Curt an explanation on where that "Nosecone" came from....you have me wondering myself....it's not what I think it is, is it?
  7. Very nice Lyle, this is a nice compilation of parts.....I find it rather "cheeky".
  8. I'll have to agree with all of the other praise of this build...very nice job. I have that kit, along with Bradford's engine and under hood details....so one of these days, I will "get'er dun". Again, nice work.
  9. Great looking flames, very nice build....classy and smooth. I like it very much.
  10. Man, that truck is a wreck! nice job.
  11. I have to agree with everyone else....there is no substitute for shiny paint. The wheels work very well with this build.....a nice.....simple, effective and smart build.
  12. The older convertible kit from Revell has the "add on" chrome trim too.
  13. Talk about kicking someone when they are down!!! It has to get better....this is sounding like a movie, Hang in there.
  14. John, you are forcing me to repeat myself, this is a spectacular build....just about as perfect engine detailing as possible in 1/25th scale. Amazing....just amazing.
  15. Happy Birthday.....I assume you have reached the point, many of us old farts here, where they are just another day in the life. Anyway, hope you enjoy it
  16. Can't add anything that hasn't been said already.....It's just spectacular! The engine wiring, plumbing and detailing is worth the price of admission alone. Well done.
  17. Harry, I thought the same thing too. The "new" owner (an RC head) had stepped out and the old owner (Fred), my old buddy, was helping out in his place. I brought the two boxes over to him to show him and he got a good laugh out of it...he said something to the effect of..."Not my shop anymore....not my problem". Then he asked me if I wanted to buy the RoG Vette...then I got a good laugh out of it.
  18. Even though many of the “new†(a few years ago) AMT kits are well designed and engineered, the Revell kits are more consistently higher quality and better engineered. I also prefer the subject material more…..but that is only my opinion…..others will most likely have other preferences. I also don't think you can beat the Revell series of '32 Fords...they are all winners, I have many of each.
  19. A few minutes ago I was up at my local hobby shop to pick up a bottle of Tenax-7R. After a few minutes of catching up with the current political issues with Fred, the old owner of the shop, I took a look around to see if anything was new. I wandered back to the car model section to look around. There on the shelf, next to each other was the Corvette ZR1, one was the Revell (USA) kit and one was the Revell of Germany kit. Because I am working on one right now, it caught my interest. Now, we all know that the kits, inside the box, are identical, but the price caught my eye. The Revell (USA) kit was discounted to $22.95 but the Revell of Germany kit was discounted to $39.95….that is $17.00 more for the same kit. What is up with that, Revell? We all need to be an educated consumer today. I mean really, the RoG box is not that much better. Just thought you guys might be interested.
  20. Very impressive. The doors and rear hatch opening is first rate workmanship. Great job.
  21. Mike, this is sure coming along nicely. The hinge saga was interesting to follow...I love how you stuck with it. Really looking good....well, as good as rust and dents can look, that is.
  22. I remember that race car. I used to race slots back in the day...My favorite was the Cox Chaparral and the Macko Shark with the F1 cars right behind. Beautiful job...Graham Hill looks perfect behind the wheel.
  23. Guys, I just don’t get this!!!! I belong to this forum….I also belong to the F1 Modeling forum, which I think one or two others from here belong to too. I post there very rarely, mainly because I don’t build much in the way of F1 now, although F1 models are one of my favorites. Posting F1 here usually gets a tepid response, if any at all…which is fine, that is why I ventured over there. I know you guys enjoy customs, stock builds and rats. All of that is fine, I do too. But the point of this post is, in the 18 or so months that I have viewed and belonged to the F1 site, I can tell you I never see the childish bickering or juvenile outbursts like we have over here. The guys over there encourage each other and go above and beyond to help with requests for pictures or information on cars. These guys love F1 and they are committed to following it and modeling it. Another thing kind of interesting is that almost all of them are foreigners (non USA residents); perhaps that is a contributing factor to the civility on that forum. I have noticed a getter number of non USA members here lately, and I have noticed that they tend to avoid the MCM family squabbles. Guys, I don’t understand why there is all of this ridicules hostility. If someone looks at another “cross-eyedâ€, the verbal attacks begin. This silly “Hatfields and McCoy’s†feuding over which magazine is better is just so unnecessary. They both exist, they both have automotive models and both cover the same shows….what is the problem? If you like one over the other, than just read one of them. I paint with oils….I read “American Artist†and “International Artist†most every month….there is no “shots across the bows†of the other magazine…not on the web either. The artists are concerned about the art…not the vehicle that brought the art to them. Personally, at the risk of alienating myself from many you, I do not have the time or patience for this bickering. I know, I can ignore it, and I usually do, but this is getting like that old joke….†Last night I went to a boxing match and a Hockey game broke outâ€. Someone makes a post, and someone else has to start a childish squabble. We can do so much better.
  24. Great job, as usual, John....this thing, like the "Showboat" must have been pretty wild, in its day...hit the gas and hang on.....there really can't be much else to do.....hang on and hope it goes straight. Have fun finishing her.
  25. Lyle, great color combination. The headlight treatment worked out very well too. Those "hump" bodies are so different and strange looking to my eye, but yours sure looks sweet. The flame is a nice touch to bring a contrasting color into the picture. This is a very well thought out build, but I expect that from you. Nice.
