  1. Got the headlight buckets in, taillights done, rear brakes done, and the rear wheels on so I did another body mockup to see what it looks like. Still have to do the black/carbon trim on the lower sills yet. Not looking forward to that.
  2. Thank you Jeffrey. A closer examination showed that the stripes in the kit would not have been correct for the car anyways. The Super Snake has a thick white stripe down the middle with a small pin stripe on either side of it, whereas the GT500 has two stripes side by side.
  3. So today is a somewhat overcast day. Good for outdoor pictures because there is no glare. Finished the polish and wax on the body early this morning.
  4. Great work on this Chris. Could not even tell the headlight issue. Looks great to me!
  5. Thanks Antonio. Quality time it definitely was.
  6. Beautiful build!
  7. Thanks guys! Your kind words keep me driven on this. Now to tackle the body this weekend. Also, working on the injector harnesses and underhood details.
  8. Hey guys, got the first piece compounded and waxed.....the hood. Update, the stripe decals really did not want to work with me so darn it this car will not have them. I am unable to paint them now that I have put about 5 coats of carnauba wax on the hood. Really upset about that. Anyways, here are some pics of the hood after wetsand, compound, and wax.
  9. Thank you Ray and thank you Jeffrey
  10. Anthony, this Merc is just stunning! The paint is beautiful and the attention to detail is just mind blowing.
  11. Thank you Jonathan. She and I are both looking forward to it.
  12. Hey thanks Josh. As far as I was concerned, Kona blue was my only choice of colors. I just might have to Fred. I am going to let the paint dry for another day or two before doing anything else with the body though. Gotta compound and wax next (oh can forget the satin black trim around windows too. Darn, still got plenty to do.)
  13. WOW David! This is just beautiful work.
  14. Thanks Ira. Been watching your builds lately, some amazing things you got goin on!
  15. Thanks Joshua. I think I'll keep it though. Coming close to the finish line with it. Thanks Fred. Been debating if I want to try to wrap the sides and splitter in carbon.....I do have some 1/12 twill weave. Hmmmm
  16. Fresh paint done, 4 coats of clear wetsanded between each coat. Base coat is Perfect Match GM dark blue metallic decanted and airbrushed with HOK Majik Blue Pearl over it. Looks like a good representation of Kona Blue. Next will be the white stripes, then the satin black trim at the bottom.
  17. Thanks guys (and girl) I will be happy to share any knowledge with you in the future.
  18. No I painted the body of it. She is only 11 and I did not want her to mess with HOK quite yet. She did paint some of the details though and assembled it.
  19. This is so true. Thank you.
  20. I created these brake rotors for my 1/12 GT500 out of 1 1/4" washers at local home store (Menards) Put a bolt thru the washer, put a nut on it, and put it in the drill. While i spun it with the drill I ran a sharp screwdriver over the surface to create the machined look of a rotor. The caliper was made out of nylon 1 1/4" washers that were stacked and glued and then cut out and machined with a Dremel tool. Because there are many different sizes of washers out there you could use this tip for virtually any size model. Cost was about $3.00 or so.
  21. Thanks Ken, I think I'll post it up in Tips, Tricks, and tutorials. Thank you Henry.
