Beautiful!

Sorry to hear about your friend, Kurt. I’m glad to see it wasn’t fatal. The older I get the more stories I hear about folks who recently retired, or like your friend, close to retirement, who have passed away. Too many of those stories hit too close to home.

I haven’t been very active on the board lately. I noticed that I never replied to the comments on my McLaren. Thank you to the guys who left comments. It was a fun build and looks quite good on the shelf. I’ll be entering it in a few contests this Fall and we’ll see how she does. I have started on a Sauber-Mercedes C9 that is going to be quite detailed. I hope to start a WIP thread soon.

Wow! I like everything about this! Nice job.

I finished this one up several weeks ago. I have provided a link to the WIP thread. Overall, I think this is a great kit and would recommend it. It is not as detailed as the Aoshima offerings. The kit provides some engine detail, but it can’t be seen once you fit the body. Instead of listing everything that I used and did to this build I would recommend checking out the WIP thread. Thanks for looking!

Fujimi Fina McLaren F1 GTR Long Tail

This will be the last update. The model is finished, but I wanted to finish out this WIP thread. I let the decals dry for a week and cleared the car with Mr. Top Coat Premium. It was too thick and too glossy for my liking. I rubbed it out with Micro Mesh cloths and then polished it with Tamiya compounds. The finish is much more realistic, IMHO. From there I used Tamiya Light Gray panel liner and detail painted some area. Next I added all of the PE mesh and fasteners. I built the doors and added the final items to the body. An unnatural shine, IMO. Here are the exterior components after rubbing out the paint and then polishing it out. The finish is much more realistic. The doors consisted of 9 pieces each. (Not pictured are the mirrors). I added a good bit of PE items to the exterior of the body. PE screw heads are a nice touch to the headlight covers. There is one inside the right hand 0. That will do it for this thread. I’ll post the finished model in the Under Glass section in the next few days. Thank you to everyone who checked out this thread and and a bigger thank you to everyone who took the time to leave a comment! -
