  1. super boss mustang funny.....well, that chassis work looks SUPER BOSS to me, I can tell you.....I'm jealous, Gene, send that baby up here, i'll send ya down a new kit.....lol....great, clean work,,,,,,,,,,,,,,the Ace.........
  2. its certainly ok to use other backing plates or axle bosses in using other rims......otherwise it is difficult using whats supplied in kit,,,,so, go ahead,,,the Ace....
  3. Paul, your 49 ford looks tough as nails,,,so we are certain this one will be a big hit as well.....best,,,,,the Ace.......
  4. yes, I know they are kit headers, but being the motor and such are different now, I was wondering if some parts now have problems with fit to other areas....usually when changes like this occur, it can be hard to find where that culprit may be hiding, that's throwing everything off just enough to cause fits....I've built enough in the last 46 or 47 years now,,,been there, dozens of times.......the Ace....
  5. you know, I have never cared for these cars....but this one looks so tough and nasty, I think I have to buy one.....great work, Paul.....the Ace...
  6. centering the motor.....well, the only thing I can come up with, without the car actually on my bench,,,,,the middle of the oil pan should sit center on the front axle/crossmember....making certain the trans is centered to mate with the drive shaft....but being this motor is kitbashed,,,,the headers , if they touch suspension, or something,,,,will throw all this out....5 minute epoxy is your friend here, as movement and shifting as ya go,,,may be the ticket. if you take some good pics of all mentioned, I will figure this out once seeing all the components in place....the Ace........
  7. ....no problem, Kevin.....you will find once the front clip/ grille section is installed between the fenders....they will spread a bit, making the hood fit sloppy as mentioned above. one other note, for all interested----the headers in this kit are average,,at best,,,sooo my point here is, that the hang, or drop, on them, is very low. that was done to hook up those sidepipes in the kit.....make a plastic piece for your trans support, as to lift it up the tail shaft as much as you can....it won't mess up your engine fit, or trans to firewall relief,,,but it will raise the headers enough on your final build so they won't drag on the pavement......the Ace....
  8. ....that piece would look very tough in all black---with a semi gloss red interior.....just my opinion....the Ace......
  9. .....a very exciting project idea, Ray.....best of luck......the Ace......
  10. .........motor looks terrific, Gene, glad everything is coming together for you....those slight changes make a nice difference...great work...the Ace...
  11. Miles, the 2 worst issues of this kit are that both hoods need to be shimmed up on both edges to align for fit,,,as they are undersized a bit.....and next, you have probably noticed the loose fit....if any fit at all,,side to side on the chassis to body.....the sides of the floorpan/ chassis need to have plastic stock sized and added to ensure proper fit.....hope that gets you started......the Ace.......
  12. ....and you win a cigar, Bob,,,, any 70-73 MPC reissue would have been a very exciting addition to our kit collections,,,,the 70 had the KNAFEL TIN INDIAN drag decals, and the 72 was the ROYAL super stocker......but we get a slow, boring t top disco cruiser....the Ace.....
  13. ....nobody truly loves AMT and MPC reissues any more than I do. the Kats at ROUND2 are to be commended on reissues for the most part,,,,but Alan, you are certainly correct on this one, and some of their others too. the kits that are great, well, are usually even better than their original, but in some cases they are not worth the money. this Firebird is one of them.....great decals, but that's where the party ends.....the Ace....
  14. ......don't think it is, Bob.....the Ace....
  15. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY MODELING TO OUR MEMBERS PARTICIPATING IN THE GREAT GREMLIN BUILD- OFF....SHOULD BE A SOLID MONTH OF FUN, LAUGHS, AND AN EXCITING BUILD FOR EVERYONE INVOLVED.....OH, AND A SPECIAL THANKS TO B- BODY MIKE, AS HE HAS BEEN THE GREATEST OF HELP PUTTING , AND KEEPING THIS PROJECT IDEA OF MINE TOGETHER.....A TERRIFIC FRIEND TO ALL IN OUR GREAT HOBBY....NOW, FOR ALL YOU GREMLINED-UP LOVERS,,,,, ENJOY THE RIDE, BOYS........THE ACE.........
  16. .....pretty quiet on your front today, Gene....no new pics or updates.....everything going along as planned, I hope......the Ace......
  17. ..thank you, Bob, for sharing that info with us. interesting, to say the least....anything with HOLMAN MOODY decals and equipment will always get interest,,,,stock car racing or at the strip...think i'll build mine as a vintage drag piece with the SOHC motor....the Ace...
  18. an amazing build for sure.....dazzling yet perfectly executed.........the Ace......
  19. thanks, Joe....but more to the point, Travis, as Joe mentioned, all our paints, glues, solvents...u name it,,,are a mile different from when you were actively modeling. trial and error will prevail here, until you find a combo of products that you like to use. one note...those Humbrol paints are truly great product,,,and the method I use for brushing areas is to stir and stir them till your hand almost falls off,,,makes a big difference overall. they say dry in a few hours....let your parts sit 3 or 4 days, then you are sure,,,and as mentioned prior, and I think Joe will agree, don't be afraid of the Tamiya brush paints.....they dry in an hour or so, and are terrific quality....hope this helps, because I know jumping back into the hobby as you have, its quite a wake up call in products now to way back then,,,,i went thru the same dilemma in 2012 when I jumped back in after almost 10 years of no building...the Ace....
  20. ....I was a testors fan for years until the last 4 or 5 ......now just junk with a capital J,,,,,try humbrol brush paints, the are the best enamel model hand paints,,,,Tamiya brush paints are nice too...........the Ace............
  21. AC Norton

    64 Dodge

............clean and sharp build there, Mark....very nicely finished......the Ace..........
  22. Gene....please read my last PM to you...it has some edits........the Ace........
  23. ok, first off I presently do not have the 69 galaxie kit at this time, even though over the years some have come and gone.......however if memory serves, I recall that particular SOHC engine being a bit bulkier than the engine supplied in the stang you are building. the actual dimensions and measurements of AMT engines, even the same type of engine,,,,,vary greatly. if general fit is an issue here, and I see that it is, you may have to alter everything from engine mounts, suspension components, and sadly, maybe the headers as well. I was not aware of an engine swap right off the bat in your build...wish I had...because it usually changes everything, length of tranny, oil pan , exhaust , etc, etc........the other main concern I have here is,,,the injector tubes...that is to say, does the width across tube to tube, and the length of 4 adjacent on both sides a proper fit for the hood opening,,, of your fresh painted hood.....without having BOTH kits in front of me, and just having the stang, I will have to get you to walk me thru these concerns, so we may figure them all out....get back to me when possible, I know we can make all of this work.....the ACE....
  24. hi Gene,,,,,thanks for the PM....wasn't sure where all you're pics and all disappeared till now......let me look all this over, and I will get back to you shortly....the Ace...
  25. .......thanks, Ron, for the photos of all contents of this issue........was considering getting one, but now its a go for certain.....regards, the Ace.......
