  1. ......good evening to all you fellow forum members,...I pose a question to those in the know regarding all the various MPC/ AMT 67 GTO kits on ebay, and at my LHS.............what is the opinion of you guys about what issue may be the cleanest, has the best chrome, overall nicer in general to start a project with, as some versions that are weak or poorly produced as the years have gone by. I saw a pale blue one online a few days ago, looked good, or what I could see thru the bags,,,,,anyhow, jump in here and give me an idea as what version, or box art I should grab.....regards, and thanks in advance,....the Ace........
  2. you are correct about the coves, Bill, however I can live with all that as this kit is just such a neat memory 60s blast, i'll probably get a couple more just because..lol....the Ace............
  3. ........I'm with you on that one, Alan....much more builder friendly and easier to lower too, if the builder wishes. good point you made.....the Ace.......
  4. .....you win a cigar, Richard, that is correct, as you usually are. a parts mine for sure, and truly this little gem is worth every cent.......the Ace......
  5. hi everyone, just thought I would share some info regarding the recently issued MPC 60 vette......I am unable to provide pics, as the camera and photographer in my life is no longer in my life, so if anyone out there wants to jump in with pictures, that would be helpful.....seems quite crisp in general, some flash on the white parts trees, but nothing radical. chrome is very nice, with little flash, and clean and bright. tires are 4 stock blackwall polyglas style, but not lettered. slicks are the pie crust MH variety and lettered as in several other Round2 kits. body is very nice, little flash. decal sheet is exactly as the original, with the addition of a few more product sponsors like Howards cams, etc. basically, its every bit as sweet as the original in that all the goodies are included....tow bar, driver figure, rally equipment, skis, the works. the only slight difference I notice are the front coil springs, as the originals had working metal coils, where this has white plastic ones. all the parts are nicely bagged, and the kit has a fold up mini box too. again, sorry I can't provide pics, but any and all questions will be gladly answered.....I have always had a soft spot for this kit dating back to the summer of 69 when I received one as a gift......its just as nice now, I think the MPC guys like myself, and the Corvette guys will love it...thanks again, to the Kats at Round2...........best regards to everyone,....the Ace........
  6. ...its like all else....what will you pay for it.........and like Bill says, a 68 Coronet trumps the 69 in value and interest by far. keep in mind, even back in the mid 80s, a mint in box 68 coronet would bring 100 to 125 easily, and remember, that's over 30 years ago, when , for example, a MPC 72 Firebird 400 Royal super stock annual would fetch 25-30 bucks on a good day...see what I'm getting at.....the 71 chevelle ss , in my opinion, is about a hundred buck kit, but if you really want it, guess its worth what you want to pay. the AMT annual is much nicer, IMO, but that's just my thoughts. I have had 3 68 Coronets thru the years, once new in 1968, then another I sold in the 80s, and the last one factory sealed that I opened and built in the late 90s. point I'm making is, that particular kit has a magnetic draw to all of us that had one in 1968, and the disease was never cured thru the years,,,,,lol....its just one of those cars and kits that guys such as us just have to have, and one that triggers so many great memories and all that good stuff...............that's my 2 cents..............the Ace..............
  7. .........FOR THOSE INTERESTED.....just spoke with Round2 Auto world, and as of 1 minute ago am told the MPC 69 barracuda will be released sometime in Feb., and the USA-1 Vega is pending, but not due for awhile.......just thought I'd pass it on....the Ace.......
  8. ...AMT and MPC.....the BEST then, and the BEST now and forever...thank you, ROUND2....always number 1..The Ace.....
  9. Mike, its all over ebay at this time, and my LHS says they will have it late next week.....I built the original back in the day, and looking at the back of the box on this new issue, every part looks identical to the original. even the decals mirror the first sheet. I expect the only differences will be the tire combo. not sure what slicks you get.....this is a great kit with tons of parts and goodies. there was an issue done in gray plastic out a few years back , gold built car on the box and such, that was like the original too, decals and all. hope this helps, I want one or two as well.....the Ace........
  10. question for you, Matthew.....I have this kit, still sealed, as I have heard that it has some body/chassis fit issues....could you fill us in about any build problems that exist with this kit....yours looks great by the way.....regards, The Ace.......
  11. .....I HAVE JUST HEARD that my local hobby shop in Dundas, Ontario Canada has the new MPC Round2 USA 1 VEGA, and the MPC 69 Barracuda, and MPC 1960 Corvette due to be delivered this coming Monday. they actually were on the delivery truck today, but the driver unloaded some boxes, and forgot the one that contained a couple of each of these kits . I have seen the 1960 Corvette on ebay the last week or so, but not the other two. do any of you people have any of these yet, or can you get them at your shops now....love to hear the scoop.......the Ace...
  12. no, you are not......I go thru that same feeling when I go out to the shops now. as we get older, that interest is still there, but the drive to build constantly and justify the prices of kits today is sometimes something I know many of us struggle with. I have a few mib kits, say 25 or 30. even working on one at a time, I'll have enough for years to come. yes, I want to buy lots, but it isn't like when I was younger and made sure my wallet was empty leaving any hobby shop or toy show........just my 2 cents,.....the Ace.......
  13. ....is there any concrete info yet on details about the MPC 1969 BARRACUDA that is coming out shortly,,,that is to say, is it going to be close to the annual 69 issue in original parts and such, decal sheet, etc,,,,or just a re box of the same piece we've had so many times now......jump in if anyone out there has the inside scoop......the ace...
  14. ....I think you have a winner there, that's what I think.....everything looks great all round. hard work and the set backs were overcome in hi-style here.....keep it going, trim and decals, easy pace,,,,,,,perfect......the Ace....
  15. just a great one, Tye....the vintage 68 chevelle decals are boss on this.....the Ace.....
  16. looking forward to seeing more soon, Gene,......the BMF and decals will make this awb car a mind blower......best,...the Ace.........
  17. I recall several AMT kits that used those rivets in the late 60s and possibly some early 70s cars as well. still have a pile in stock around here....I found that epoxy was the way best to keep them from being a disaster at retaining your wheel assembly in place....the Ace....
  18. Ray, just a thought here...it may look a bit nicer if the black was also sprayed to include the hood and header panel behind the hood too.....and the application of a pin stripe decal around the rear area, separating the two colors may help as well.....the Ace....
  19. .I like them as well, Kevin,,,,and find that oversprayed with Tamiya clear, that tones down the bass boat look some colors have. they are nice paints for certain....the Ace.....
  20. lovely build here....the Ace....
