  1. ...........absolute mind-blower,,,there's good builds, terrific builds,,,,,then builds in the other league completely......that's where this falls into........the ace....
  2. ...just had to jump in once again and say,,,i think over the years these mpc vegas, even though not the best by a long shot.....still build to be a neat little drag car. they have been given such a bad rap thru the years, however seeing one built clean and skillfully, like this one, they are a pleasing and fun piece. all the moaning and groaning will start when the USA 1 pro stocker hits the shelves in a couple of months,,,but I can tell ya,,,they will sell like crazy.....I have this twister white one too, and was going to sell it because of the USA 1 coming out....not now, thanks, after seeing this build.......the ace..........
  3. ......I would BMF the whole ring, then use some clear orange for the centre....they are usually present on these cars from back then.....glad everything is coming along.....the bumpers will also look great done like you mentioned too......the ace....
  4. nice, clean piece.....great work.........the ace......
  5. .looks great, John....considered building mine many times myself.....now I'm inspired to do that...lol.......terrific job....the ace.....
  6. ...hope you join in on this build, Kevin....will be happy to add you to the list of members who have jumped in...we will await your decision....the ace.....
  7. ....see what I mean, Snake, you just can't help yourself, can you....I guess none of us are up to your higher standards, and as adult builders have really learned nothing along the way of almost 50 years of building, running for the Testors rack and pouring on the metallic purple right from the bottle....you may mean well, but your delivery and execution of comments always makes it seem the rest are unworthy idiots....oh, and the 'your right about the dash' segment and all,, I assure you I'm right each and everytime I open my yap on this forum...if I really do not know , I ask or await information......but I have to go now, the Pactra red bottle paint is almost dry on my 68 vette, so gotta get the decals ready........
  8. ...good for you, Dave....I'm insanely jealous..lol......would love that met. blue buggy myself....nice that someone got one......regards, the ace.......
  9. ......the body for the Teevee buggy was most probably designed to fit with AMTs existing tooling for the Meyers Manx kit, that was issued 3 or 4 years earlier if memory serves. anyhow, that being said, they were certainly not going to make many, if any changes for this newly tooled body to mate with the older tooling in order to market another car kit. perfection in scaling would not have been the priority here, close, but no cigar would do....because most of us back then were not as model car educated as we are now.......we just were happy to dive in and build one. as for mods to the dash and such to improve this.....difficult fix, and it may throw other aspects of the build out of whack, making matters worse...just my opinion......the ace........
  10. Greg, this build of the TEEVEE is superb.....best I have ever seen.....best,,,the ace..........
  11. SNAKE, you really are one of a kind.......measuring from a chair....to the wall....something about the crotch,,,,do you stay up at night and think up all this stuff, or , do you not realize that models,,,most of which that we are dealing with, are 40 plus years old,,,, and i'll just bet the Kats at AMT back then designed things without sitting in chairs and doing, well, all these other bizarre moves. they are based on a toy premise, here, and don't come up to todays standards, even though that's an arguable point too. I know you like to jump in to any and all discussions, opinions, and all else on the forum.....however I find it truly incredible that everything has to be cut, hacked, sawed, fixed, and critiqued to death , because you seem to have the vision and insight that all the rest of us just don't realize. take a break, maybe by building a kit without micro analyzing EVERYTHING about it, you actually may find it just as much fun as being the self appointed guru of everything plastic.......and lastly, I think you HAVE insulted the builder you refer to that posted his built TEEVEE buggy recently by even mentioning all this in reference to his photos ......as he is almost assured to read this thread at one point, now possibly making him feel slighted that he even dove into this kit without making several modifications to your standards....gee, we just couldn't have him just enjoy a fun build of a vintage model car, now could we..............the ace..........
  12. Andy, that's great, happy to have you jump in.......we set this up to allow plenty of time for members, as we set the start date as SEPT 1, with a finish at OCT 1....but, add that to the rest of August, and you may surprise yourself. I wanted to keep this a very basic, easy build for everyone, with only a few non-box guidelines of extras that can be changed or added, as I'm sure you know, so we hope you get a GREMLIN done for this, and are happy to have you included.......best,,,the ace.......
  13. .......outstanding, Ken.....glad to have you aboard on our little build idea....best,....the ace.........
  14. ...........no doubt, they certainly could,,,,but better yet, Ken, are you jumping in to our Gremlin build off....be great to have you in........the ace....
  15. ............one guy in my home town bought a new 71 cuda....383 car, orange, tan interior, black billboards......a fellow up country had a 74 duster 360 met. gold, white factory stipes, black interior.....and when I bought my 73 340 duster in late 1975, it was yellow, black interior, black 340 stripes.....typical,,,,but, a guy in a small town over had the same 73 340 car, was red, tan interior, white stripes......these are the ones I can think of quickly, but there were some odd combos in the mopars......the ace.............oh, just remembered, Wayne Gallant bought his new 73 road runner at a local Chrysler store...it was black, med. blue bench seat interior, and white rr striping...sounds odd, it was very nice, though.....
  16. PLEASE READ FOR GREMLIN BUILD OFF,,,,,,SOME MEMBERS HAVE ASKED ABOUT SEAT BELTS FOR THIS PROJECT. AS MOST FOLKS KNOW, THE KIT SUPPLIES NONE, AND THE GUIDELINES DO NOT INCLUDE AFTERMARKET, OR SEAT BELTS BORROWED FROM ANOTHER KIT,,,,,BUT---THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT IN USING BASIC BUILDING SUPPLIES, AS STATED IN THE GUIDELINES POSTING,,,THERE IS NOTHING FROM STOPPING OUR ESTEEMED MEMBERS FROM USING MASKING TAPE FOR BELTING, AND PLASTRUCT OR EVERGREEN STRIPS TO FABRICATE BUCKLES AND SUCH OF THEIR OWN...HOPE THIS CLARIFIES THIS ASPECT....CONTACT MIKE B BODY , OR MYSELF WITH ANY OTHER INQUIRIES....WOULD LIKE AS MANY MEMBERS AS POSSIBLE,,,,MORE THE MERRIER............BEST,,,THE ACE...............
  17. .........masterful, Eric, just as good as it gets.......terrific work here...the ace........
  18. Gene, this is not a difficult fix here, just take your time,,,and that white glue trip is your best friend here, as if you need to go again, no damage to the paint....I am home now all eve,,,so keep in touch, if you get into a bit of a jam,,,,just email, or take a photo if necessary, and we will get this done......best, the ace............
  19. ....that's correct, Gene, its JUST barely wide enough to fit across......so, no need to waste money on another kit for 1 part,,,, there is another fix here, a lot less work, but a bit tricky...lets walk thru it..///////// LEAVE the ports and all exactly as they are,,,fill the next one ya build,,,,,do not at all mess with your nice painted panel,,,,simply cut 2 identically sized narrow evergreen strips, not quite the height of the rear panel at the ends that attach to the lower 1/4s......and, firstly using some white kids glue, or whatever tacky craft glue you have,,,,i want you to use this at first, just to TACK the strips in place as to prevent any paint damage to anything......glue those strips in place to the inner body , at the ends of the lower 1/4s, using them now as a STOPPER idea, meaning when the panel is in place, they meet, not allowing the panel to fall thru...once aligned to your liking, being certain that the panel lines up at the tab above the licence plate, your panel now has a STOPPER or GAP FILLER at each end, that the panel can rest on, and be attached to later. once the 2 strips have been positioned and the tacky glue sets up a bit, take your zap a gap glue, and run a tad of it BEHIND the strips, making them strong and permanent. all you do now, is shake up your Tamiya red, blow a bit into the cap, or a cup....let it set up for a minute,,,,then take your best detail brush and skillfully paint those strips on all sides...that paint does touch up like a dream, so you won't ruin anything...once dry in an hour or so, your panel can be fitted in, and the edges in question will now be filled in , all red, and you and I are the only ones that will ever know. I bet that done skillfully, it will be great.....I know this seems a long winded deal here, but it really isn't....if you prefer, send me the panel as it is, I will do all of it for you, fill the ports, everything,,,,get back to me anytime with any questions....its 10.17 here, your 1 hour behind us....the ace...
  20. Gene, nothing is biting you, most guys don't fill the exhaust ports on this build anyhow.....the car will look great regardless, and that won't even be noticeable. you can always do that on the next 66 stang you build.....the ace.....
  21. .....most true model car people find fault somewhere in most kits.....the catch is to forget it, fix it if possible, but better yet, enjoy the fact you have it at all.......I find the older I get, the less faults I look for in kits......I save that fault energy for people...lol...the ace....
  22. ............I think this piece is one of the most innovative and interesting builds I have seen in a long time.....refreshing, different, and masterful execution.........the ace.....
  23. sounds like a plan to me.......because the fun factor is all that matters,,,wish I had the motivation and drive you have right now... I am working on a couple of cars, but seem to be dragging my feet these days.....I better snap out of it soon, lots to build here.....the ace........
  24. you know, I have never used alclad, and I don't own an airbrush..... when I build mine,,,,i am going to leave the chrome surround as is, but paint the tooth section semi gloss black, or spray it flat black. if you have all the alclad paints, they would be better, I suppose.... as for the rear pan, that's a shame....to fill, strip, prime, paint at this point, not sure if I would want to . however, the pan should be flat, without trim or ports,,,thats for a stock mustang gt, as you know. personally, I would leave it alone, its a shelf piece, why go thru all the work,,paint looks so good now.....as for epoxying that baby together,,,just use it at the contact points that you need to,,,and remember, epoxy will pull off plastic within an hour or so, usually without incident, if you have to fly again. you build a nice, sharp model, and with your skills banging this 'stang together will be a snap for you...have you thought of decals and such yet....the sheet with it has some great stuff....I will be watching, Gene......the ace.............oh, also to consider....the front bumper, if you wish, could have the bottom 2 trim guards removed, and the bumper sprayed dull silver....most were 'glass and usually that way........
