Next up from Moebius ?
AC Norton replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
....if they market a lot of these 50s era boring rafts, they eventually will fail. the 61 Pontiac and the ford pickups are good moves, but to capture the dollars out there they need to concentrate on late 50s to mid 70s drag cars, and the muscle or quasi muscle cars that are largely forgotten. how about some 64-70 valiants, vega pro stocks, Fairmont, 66-69 falcons, etc, etc......even the 65 Plymouth should have been made the cheapie sedan, as the drag car potential would have been endless.......just my opinions, of course....the ace.... -
looks great, Joe....quick is sometimes even more fun.....best,...the ace....

....well, Tim, car models are a part of guys like all of us .....and I think so many of us have realized thru the years, that the love and enjoyment they brought us as kids is really no different than it is now in our pension years. I admit to being a bit in and out of actively building or collecting at times, as other interests have prevailed for periods,,,but car modeling always stays with me and I am sure glad it does. my most treasured memories in many ways relate to our hobby....my 3 best friends, all men that have passed away....were avid model car people, and I am proud to say that 2 of those friendships began all to do with models. at the NNL in Toledo 1985 the theme was the super sixties,,,and I won with 4 entries in 63, 64, 67, and 69. my best friend Ron Dube that attended all the shows and events with me thru the 80s and 90s was even more excited and proud that I had won and done so well at that event than I even probably was. memories such as this never leave a person, and I think of times such as these often, and with feelings very emotional for me personally. my precious wife Susan also passed away exactly 10 years ago today, and the many car models that I built while dating and thru married life are uncountable,,,always with her love and support thru the years. so, is our hobby an important one....well, to the masses no,,,,,,,to folks like us and those who love and support us, I like to think so......best,...the ace.....

yes, the decal sheet is very nice in this kit....and as I mentioned in my post earlier tonite, many original parts have been re instated as well....the ace.....

....just today I bought this reissue, and have a quick report to all interested. this thread mentions early on about the original parts from the annual either being deleted or changed thru the years....well, I have some good news, and some bad news.....the tow bar and those nice steel wheels are NOT included,,,however, the custom steering wheel, 4 headlight covers, 2 piece roll bar, 2 seat belts and drag harness, and the tow hooks ARE now re instated . there is also a convertible boot, jack stand, and chrome brake drum too. overall, pretty nice issue, however the Cragars have some pitting and junk thru them, so a better or different wheel choice will improve this build. I will try to post pics later, if I can.,,,,the ace........

...........anything that exemplifies the heritage and rich history of this hobby, is something to be enjoyed and coveted by all....good for you, Tim. that special time in our lives when car models were new and exciting to so many of us by merely seeing contest events in the magazines, I think gave so many of us the drive and constant persistence to model on, and love every minute of it. thanks for sharing this, you are an asset and great friend to all of us that love model cars, old and newer alike. best regards,,,,,,,,the ace.......

AMT '40 Ford Coupe Review (1983 Re-issue)
AC Norton replied to Duntov's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
...could one of our AMT 40 FORD experts tell me....what colors did the early issues of the original 40 coupe, tudor, and the 40 coupe trophy series come moulded in.....I want to get one, but want to know the possible combos prior to jumping in. I do know, as stated earlier in this thread, some of the custom and race parts are quite interesting compared to issues that came later, as some were dropped or changed, it seems. anyhow, any help I will thank 'ya for in advance, gents.......the ace... -

41 plymouth gasser small update 0616/17
AC Norton replied to vc273's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
personally, the blue steelies look great on this car...i'd go with them....one other thing, being this gasser is of that early to mid sixties theme, I would loose the Hamburger oil pan decal from the fender. that decal is dated more from the early 80s era and up.....just a thought...the ace.... -
...........I know what I think of all of this, well, you know what I mean....stuff.....I better not get started on this subject, if you catch my drift,,,,,the ace...

Revell customer service vs. Round 2's
AC Norton replied to unclescott58's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have had one Revell situation back 2 or 3 years ago re. their hemi dart. my phone call to their rep proved a hassle, and they sent me the wrong parts needed after a couple of emails and more long winded conversations. frankly, I have never had a moment for Revell anyway, regardless of the kits the masses rave about,,,and seeing the mess they still make of so many of their cars, my service problem with them solidifies for me that their stuff will rarely if ever grace anything in my pile...ROUND2 all the way, thank you......the ace.... -
....just brought home the AMT 32 Vicky reissue and another AMT 40 ford coupe, and 2 Tamiya sprays of bright mica red, light gunmetal,,,and 3 nice detail brushes. that Vicky kit is a beauty, in my opinion. never had one ever,,,so its quite a thrill to plan out a simple build of a 60s gasser....I love car models, thanks ROUND2,,,,,,the ace....

Money spent on this hobby
AC Norton replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
...look at the money spent on the hobby in this way....I was just recently at a retirement party for a guy that turned 65 last month, and, when all attending his bash cheered and yelled for,, SPEACH, SPEACH, SPEACH,,,he took the floor by saying..you know, I have had a great life, and spent every cent I earned thru the years on booze, gambling, and prostitution...and the rest of the money I totally wasted...the ace... -
Money spent on this hobby
AC Norton replied to BIGTRUCK's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
....the cost factor makes it difficult to justify the trips and shows attended like thru the 80s and 90s for me, personally. much as we all moan about EPAY, it makes getting things cheaper in the long run. glad most all of my old stuff was sold years ago, and reissues are abound these days, as building and enjoying them is just as much fun for me.......the ace.... -
