AC Norton replied to '70 Grande's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
thanks, mark,,,i know that if anyone knows the score here, you are one of the fellas that would know. I think I will grab the 2 kits local I mentioned, as eventually I will build them. that TUNER version seems a lot harder to find too....were they in short supply back when issued.....thanks, the ace..... -
Newly reissued Revell BRE Datsun 510 Racecar kit
AC Norton replied to '70 Grande's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
....general question to all of our esteemed members who own and know all about these 510 BRE kits.....is the 1996 issue better, worse, what,,,,compared to the 2014 issue, as the 96 issue seems to more expensive online, and,,,are the kits from 2014 rare, or truly getting rare,,i ask because I would like one, maybe two,,,and one of my LHS still has 2 on the shelf....opinions and answers much appreciated, please.........the ace........ -

Removal of wipers
AC Norton replied to Fortheloveofgassers's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have been removing them on my race cars for over 30 years now....and its even harder now that my eyes are worse...lol...regardless, its one of those jobs you just love to hate, and weighing up the pros and cons should be your choice, as some wipers are much more difficult to remove than others. scribing work is something that I think most builders really have to be in the mood to do, i have found. its one of those jobs that cannot be rushed thru, because that work will show a result that usually is not satisfactory. use sharp, new blades, take your time, make certain your lighting is set just right, and remember....practice makes perfect,,,well, hopefully almost perfect.....the ace.....- 16 replies

very nice build, Robert....catches that old drag car look perfectly. also I tip my hat to you for removing the stock exhaust on the floorpan....long, tedious work, but very few builders of this kit bother.....great work here....the ace.....

interesting idea for new conversation here....I have always been glad that many other model car guys collect and enjoy their stash for many reasons....kinda makes the world go round....i'm even eyeballing some Japanese tuner kits I recently got...love the box art. wait, i'm old and not supposed to like tuner cars...lol......the ace...

What type of "Box Art" do you prefer?
AC Norton replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
box art and all that goes with is a hobby in itself.......sometimes almost as exciting as the build .......woops, I've probably stated an unpopular opinion.....sorry for enjoying more than just the norm.......the ace...... -
the chrome is shiny and perfect, like the reissue....amazing its held up after all these years, considering the chrome on the early issues was semi gloss at best....truly amazing....the ace....

hi ray, nice to think you are building this, and as a salt flats car. this kit has been overshadowed by the revell 62 vette, but i still love this old gal the best....AMT always.... anyhow, look forward to seeing this car of yours built for all to enjoy...great choice and a neat project...best, the ace.....

Box art and your decision?
AC Norton replied to Petetrucker07's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
some of the comments on this thread are truly incredible....yea, really. what if a collector , builder, whatever....buys a kit solely based on the box art...its his money,,, its not getting yanked out of your wallet. some folks enjoy more about the hobby than just the actual parts or building of a kit...I am not one of them, however I know many enthusiasts, as I'm certain many of you do, who probably build very little, but enjoy the hobby for many reasons, box art being one of them....end of story....the ace..... -
I just got mine on Friday but have not opened it yet....there is some on ebay that were opened kits...check it out...the ace....

building a vintage junior stocker nhra 65 chevelle wagon......
AC Norton replied to AC Norton's topic in WIP: Model Cars
true enough, roger, the blue tinted glass, as well as other colors seemed to be popular in the 60s era, but I think mostly in the gasser and altered classes. as tempting as the blue tint in this kit is to use, I will go with the clear in this build, to show the interior, and, it seems more common in the stocker classes. thanks for your comments...the ace... -
truly stunning.....amazing attention to , well, nothing......I love it...reminds me of my 2014 output......the ace....

45 plus year old Tameless Tiger GTO
AC Norton replied to nitro_force_fan's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
think of how exciting that car was when first built....you can never get that feeling from that period back by restoring it...leave it just the way it is, and be proud you still have it....wish I had all of mine from back then.....the ace....
