.....have not really been paying much attention to kits and such as of late, however after reading about all these Stevens re issues coming,,,a nice thought would be that the 69 cuda may come out with the annual box, and hopefully that decal sheet too. anybody know any of the juicy details here....the ace..

mark, you may find that the rims in this kit are a bit rough as far as the casting goes, the slots may need some fixing. they seem to be varying in size, shape, and the sets I have look a tad jagged in the slot openings. once cleaned up and massaged a little, painting the centers really helps to make them a sharper deal......hope this helps, look forward to seeing yours built. this ol gal always get bashed badly compared to newer kits, but its still and old favorite...the ace....

thanks to joe, dave, and mark for your nice comments....I have not been on this site too much lately, and have not built a darn thing for ages. however, mark has asked about the wheels on this build,...all I did was paint the rough areas of the centers with humbrol metal cote aluminum. its fast and easy, and gives them a nicer look, I feel. thanks, mark, for asking..........the ace.....

Why do your kits end up stalled
AC Norton replied to atomicholiday's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
lost interest for now, bored with that one, Breaking Bad is on soon, more stuff on ebay to grab,,,,,and bla bla bla....its not a crime that many of us do this with projects,,,but it is a darn shame..........the ace..... -
When do you open your kits?
AC Norton replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
sometimes right as soon as I get it.....but I usually savor many for a time and open them weeks, even months later to bring something exciting and interesting to that day. certainly building is the priority, however a good time can be had by opening something you have in your stash just for the fun of it....I think many of us enjoy the whole trip of owning this stuff, and its not always just about the finished kit.....enjoy it all....the ace.... -
Revell, great quality for over 35 years!
AC Norton replied to highway's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
....over the years, and presently, a few Revell kits are a quality, well engineered, builder- friendly kit,....but in general, they almost always drop the ball in areas that just baffle many model car guys. personally, in most cases, I run from anything with their name attached to it. this is usually an unpopular point of view on this forum, however it has been my opinion for over 40 years.....the ace..... -

MPC 69/72 Corvette "Stroker Vette" HELP!
AC Norton replied to Tye Brown's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Tye, I have a partial sheet that I have had for years.....never built a vette with this, but a friend did back 40 years ago,and everything fit the body well, and it looked neat...maybe a chrome yellow, or pearl white.....will look great on a nice paint job. the pic you show of that blue vette kit is great for this build...decals fit that as they were on the original,,,,but wait, it gets better....the 72 vette conv. kit that was out at the same time as the blue one...its red on the box.....it has one of those neat clip on style factory hardtops, so that is another possible use for those decals......the ace........... -
MPC 69/72 Corvette "Stroker Vette" HELP!
AC Norton replied to Tye Brown's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Tye, that should be a fairly easy search....the amt ertl 70 corvette from the early 90s is a very nice kit, and a big block will drop in easily, if that's your idea. even the vintage originals by mpc vettes sometimes sell on ebay quite cheap,,,compared to 10 years back. you will most likely get something easily, and your photo is the billy gooche repro. I may even have an original sheet around, if you need it...just a thought....the ace.... -
I live in Hamilton....some good shops in my area, Dundas Valley hobby, Modellers Choice hobby, and Hamilton hobbies ...all within 15 minutes of one another. most of my buying comes from ebay dealers, as I find the travelling to shows does not have the blast factor it had thru the 80s and 90s era.....those old Toledo, Cleveland, and Detroit shows were the greatest of times for kits and toys , for sure. the expense of running around and paying overnight expenses to travel and all was fun when I was younger,,, guess my heart was lighter then......but travelling alone when all your friends have passed on just makes a ride no fun anymore. ebay will have to do now, I suppose......the ace..........

MPC 69/72 Corvette "Stroker Vette" HELP!
AC Norton replied to Tye Brown's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Tye, that sheet is from the original MPC 73 corvette convertible.......but the nice part is that it will give you that 70s era wild paint job look for any 68-73 mpc or amt vette...even the 70 coupe or 72 conv. by amt ertl from the 90s....fits them all....the ace.... -

AMT 'Super Boss' Barracuda Funny Car! Update! #16: 3/23/15
AC Norton replied to Speedfreak's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
gene, save the cost and hassle....just take some wide black decal stripes, use a straight edge, cut to width you need....and apply them section by section. then you control how you want them to appear, and if you blow it on some...who cares...cut some more, and fly again. when the decal striping is on the car for 10 minutes or so, apply some watered down Solvaset along the stripes, wait 4 or 5 hours to dry out....and enjoy. if there is a small spot here and there that is not perfect, touch up with a narrow brush and black paint....just a thought...the ace... -

AC Norton replied to '70 Grande's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
....I built the yellow Brock Buster version in the late 70s, and yet another in about 96-97 era, both long gone and sold back in the day....but they were a nice kit, looked great built, and a joy to build. never owned the race version, but think I will now..lol...the ace..
