..............no, the white is quite solid,,,so your decal will show that on any body color except white, unfortunately....the ace....

......is there a point to this post,,,,thought this was an automotive model site.......the ace..........

....DECAL ALERT on the 1975 gremlin sheet.....be aware that your nice red hockey stick striping is really only useful on a white paint job...these stripes have solid white print thru the lines, so used on another color, the white backing will show where your body color should be visible...just thought I would mention this, boys.......the ace........

Vallejo woes yet again!
AC Norton replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Gary, I was talked into trying their junk by a person that normally has the scoop on these things....mistake on my part, I will never have that BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH on my bench again. Squadron putty is outstanding, and I stick to Tamiya and Humbrol bottle paint...rant over, the ace....... -
Vallejo woes yet again!
AC Norton replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
...all I can say is anything Vallejo I have had nothing but problems. 2 brush paints that I tried are the worst junk ever, and their body filler, which does shape and fill very well, all goes south when final wet sanding of your work takes place, as it goes to liquid ....all junk IMO...the ace... -
fast paced building
AC Norton replied to ERIK88's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
fast paced building......well, at the rate I am going , with a mere 30-40 kits in stock, I will have to live to be about 4,000 years old to get them done. I used to pride myself in finishing the only car I had started,,,,but as of late, 4 or 5 are started, with little results all round. I find myself redoing, or going over the same parts or areas 2 or 3 times because of forgotten fixes, additions, or the original plans and details partially changed to another idea.....the humidity problem for painting is a factor here thru the summer months, but for some strange reason I find I paint and build more of them in my head, than on my bench....less screw ups or failed paint jobs, and cheaper too....lol.........the ace.......... -
yeah, Dave....I like it too. correct or not, still a neat build that's fun and exciting.....best,....the ace....

Ebay sellers - Crazy?
AC Norton replied to Sledsel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
good point, for sure,,,,however who would ever have thought vintage kits would draw the money they get on paybay.....back in the 80s a big dollar kit was 75.00,,,something mind blowing 100.00 or so. I see junk drawing 2,3,4 hundred bucks at times on paybay, so actual rare car parts....skys the limit I guess.....the ace.... -
.....interesting post, as I just now cracked open my 1975 gremlin, and, unlike the 76 gremlin I am presently working on, this 1975 is molded in that nice cream, off white plastic, as you mention yours is, and I dig that as well...personally, I would buy one more of the 75 car, but not the 76, I just like the grille and the decal sheet, as the decals in the 76s have a flat, dull finish for some reason.... maybe these are a short run in that cream color,,,very cool, I think...........the ace........

Roger, might try Tamiya white primer on this.....let it dry 6-8 hours, then start your 3 color job,,,,i have never had it let me down yet...the ace....

........I hate hearing this happens, with the cost of supplies and the headaches thrown in for free, makes some of us wonder why we do this. sure hope round two is a winner for you,,,best,.........the ace...........

I customize many of my 1/64 cars too,,,,,and this one of yours looks great..........the ace......

Need help identifying wheels
AC Norton replied to Speedfreak's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Gene, personally i would mix some gun metal and aluminum brush paint....maybe a tiny dash of gold thrown in,,,then a slash of Humbrol dullcote, and play around until you get a dark, dull tone, just north of black a little....just a thought.....the ace.... -
Need help identifying wheels
AC Norton replied to Speedfreak's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
hi gene....back in the 60s and part way thru the 70s, Cragar made wheels identical to their common chrome s/s wheel we all know and love, but with light texturing on the spokes, painted flat black,,,and called Cragar GTs, usually aluminum, but I have seen chrome around the lip area as well.....some versions were copied by other generic wheel makers, painting the spokes in a dark gray and darker gunmetal colors too. that's what these model wheels represent...hope this helps, best always...the ace... -
no, those 66-67 Chargers were not plentiful, and they were not that popular either. the other mid size muscle of the 66-67 years being Chevelle, Fairlane, Coronet and several other models were always more common on the street, or strip. as for the comment that Mopars hadn't come of age, I couldn't disagree more. i make this statement only from personal observation from that era, as i can assure you that those staging lanes at the drags back then had more 340 Swingers and new Roadrunners filling the tarmac than just about anything. yes, all the makes were abundant ...however those cars were inexpensive by comparison to many others, and they ran strong for the most part. as for the 'respect' comment,,,,,maybe little for slant 6 powered cars or a 273......but the others i mention, along with most Mopar performance cars from that time, simply not the case....the ace...

yup, Mark, those cars are not the plastic lovers dream, compared to others, however if AMT has the molds and such to pop this out again, I still think the kit, revamped with some new goodies as mentioned prior, box and all, would still be killer to own. the Firebird would be welcome by the custom building crowd, and I hope this could become something for all of us interested to be considered by the Kats....you know, a lot of folks would use the boat, and Firebird in an unrelated fashion,,,so the kit does have that double whammy appeal too....no law says they must be mated or displayed together...just a thought........the ace.......
