yes, Dave , I have the original decal sheet, and it has the same graphics. however, this new sheet has additional items like the CRAZY CUDA name, and a few extra product decals as well. some of the product decals, VALVOLINE, HURST, on the original sheet are a bit larger...best, the Ace.... oh, yes, the BACARUDA decal is from the original too...

Colby, thanks so much for these pics.....I was hoping to review the kit tomorrow , as my LHS apparently is getting some in......looks ok, decals are nice...just too bad the hemi heads are not there, like the first several issues, as I see the chrome hemi rocker covers are included....oh well, i'll be buying one regardless, and thanks again,,,,the Ace....

The Dodge Boys , another long stalled project
AC Norton replied to gtx6970's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
....rare to see one hook that hard in 64 with the slicks back then,,,but that Jenkins prepped magic was scarier than voodoo.....lol....Bill, that piece of yours is going to be great once done......love it.....the Ace..... -
......relax,,,cut,,,pray....see, I told you that you should have been a surgeon, Richard... we should address you as DR. SNAKE from here on...lol......the Ace.....

well, maybe there is an answer to that as well.....I notice that a resin maker on ebay that offers the base hood with 440 markings, and as I recall both the 71 -72 shared this hood. the catch is, if it will fit in what I assume is the mono/revel kit you will be building.....if its a tad small on the outer edges, a bit of plastic strip will shim that up....I just did the same to my 68 runner that I'm building , and its the hood that comes in the kit...lol.......don't ya just love this hobby////......the Ace...........just checked ebay,,,item no. to check is-151991422754......now he lists this resin hood as an mpc 71 gtx replacement, but I think with a bit of massaging, this hood may be the ticket...... may drop in, or as mentioned, a bit of plastic edge strip may do it......the Ace...........

no problem,,,but if it gets you out of a jam and makes life easier, i'll gladly mail it out to you......best, the Ace............

Kevin, I have altered my pedal set up too, and in just now reading about the fit of your interior panels,,,I had to file-to-fit them to get a square alignment , as box stock they are ill fitting to say the least. also, you may find the dash sits high on one side as well, and may need some adjustment too. oh, you mentioned you have a steering wheel problem,,,well you are welcome to mine from my RR build here, as it is the wood grain sport wheel with the proper look and size,,,if you need it I can send it out to you, as I am making the runner with the base taxi cab plastic wheel.....let me know if you need it, glad to help......the Ace...........

......funny we are talking about this kit....I almost bought the newest issue just last Saturday at a LHS, but opted for 7 other cars at that time, however its on my list of one to grab. not a great kit, but a neat little piece, that, built with a bit of thought and effort can still look great on the shelf. I think I would make a mild custom, late 60s street machine with one....hot metallic color, wide boots, vintage style Cragars or American torque thrusts......could be a winner............the Ace............

.....never said it was a deal breaker, Robert, just think a re issue of a very anticipated annual should be as it was in 69........the Ace...

....finally grabbed this kit just today at a LHS, and I must say its a great kit......everything already discussed in this thread and more is a testament to how nice all way round it is.....stock, Nascar, drag car, hot custom, whatever,,,,its a winner for all tastes and build styles....thanks, Round2 ,,,once again you've hit another homer.......the Ace........,,,oh, and again thanks to Ron Savoie for a great review on this kit posted here for all to enjoy....best,.....the Ace........

.....its on ebay now, in the last couple of days,,,and my local shops say late next week, maybe.........the Ace.....oh, one thing...by the looks of the box art the 383 engine replaces the hemi that the original issue had, and many issues later,,,a bit disappointing....

AMT 68 ROAD RUNNER / 69 GTX QUESTION.....
AC Norton replied to AC Norton's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bill, what do you need for the parts...I emailed about week ago, so let me know what I can do......thanks, Ace.... -
.....quick question before I pull the trigger on a couple of kits, boys....does the AMT 69 GTX CONVERTIBLE, white car on box,,,have all the Hemi and all the 440 engine parts, and the correct 69 air grabber hood.....and, does the 69 GTX hardtop, blue car on box of a later issue,,,,also have all Hemi and 440 parts included as well.......fill me in, my esteemed forum members.......... thanks to all,,,,the Ace.......

color combo and all look just great....hard to beat that, for sure...the Ace....

also, Kevin....in working on my RR I noticed that the clutch/ brake pedals are too far forward, and almost touch the floor.....easy fix, snip them off , shorten the pedal shafts a bit, then re glue to your liking....just a thought....the Ace...

....I have found over the years that sometimes 5 minute epoxy can be a good friend, giving time for adjustments at that crucial moment. that bow legged look is remedied easily by using epoxy, and yes, several of these RR and GTX builds seem to suffer from it. regardless, your build finished is one I am excited to see, its very nice, and i'll be getting that kit now for sure. hope my RR turns out as well as your GTX here......the Ace.......
-
......as for your door panel question, I have never had the GTX kit, so I'm not sure about details there.....I think GTX 68 and 69 panels were different, but whether the kit is correct, I'd have to look into that. ...as for the rear height situation, even though you have glued all in place, you may find that if rear height is off a bit, just adjusting the body to chassis fit on final assembly may get you by, with a piece of hidden plastic bar strip, or whatever is around...that is to say, you may find that a bit of height movement on adjusting all components together by using 5 minute epoxy could allow you to play with all final assembly to inch the body shell around a little to get your liking in height....just a thought,...I know I will find more small fit problems as I continue with my RR as well.....that's modeling, I suppose...lol...the Ace.....
-
Kevin,,,,you may find that the rear body height is a touch low....I have seen this on several of these rr and gtx builds. a simple bit of plastic strip under the spring mounts should get it up to your liking....test fit all before your final assembly, as I mentioned, the 68 RR I'm working on as we speak suffered from this, and as you mentioned prior the wheel and brake set up need some work, as they seem a bit sloppy. I extended the axel tubes a bit with a plug end cap, so the brake assembly parts / wheel backs have something to firmly align with now...couple hours work, but worth it in the end.......best,,,the Ace.....
-
....I am presently working on the 68 road runner kit, and of course it has the same pitfalls as the GTX.....wheel / tire / backing plate set up is poor, and I have noticed several of the built models around suffer from bad stance and floppy wheel to axel mounting....gluing all together is the way out, unless your very ambitious and create your own set up here. also, I notice that these kits always seem to sit quite low in the rear....mine is being built a drag piece, so kicking the diff/ spring assembly up is not a problem, using simple plastic strips under the spring perches.......your piece is coming great....the Ace....
-
.........very authentic and super clean,,,,,,terrific work there.......the Ace....

What are the best kit Magnum 500s with trim ring?
AC Norton replied to VRM's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
.....3 come to mind, but I'm sure there are a zillion...I like the Johan sets that came in several of their kits, also the AMT 68=69 road runner and GTX kits supply a nice set,,,and the AMT 69 Chevelle ss kits always had a nice set, IMO......best,...the Ace....
