I just got the 1930 Ford Coupe in an auction and I want to do a channeled, but un-chopped coupe build. I was thinking of buying the new tool 29 roadster and using the wheels, tires, chassis, etc. Is there anything specific that I should know, like if these kits are incompatible, etc? I have always wanted to do a low channeled rod that is un-chopped. I'm 6'3" and in real life a chopped and channeled rod wouldn't cut it, I'd need some head room, and I have always had a thing for tall cabs. Also, I don't know what kind of engine I want to do. I will consider the nail head, but not sure if I want to do a low hp cruiser, like a Flathead, or another monster motor. something like this

1/8 Scale Ultra Detail GT40 Engine
Quick GMC replied to Quick GMC's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just realized the valve covers are cast in real Aluminum, not white metal. Incredible. I just went through every bit of it and it's just insane how much detail went into this. It's not brittle resin either, it's very dense, hard plastic. -
I have been infatuated with this car for years. Incredible machine I have a GTO kit here, but not the wherewithal to do this project yet. I wish someone would make a resin transkit

1/8 Scale Ultra Detail GT40 Engine
Quick GMC replied to Quick GMC's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just received my kit in the mail from Germany. The price is a non-factor honestly, the detail is just pure insanity. The pictures don't even come close to doing this kit justice. We all know 1/8 is big, but it still comes as a shock when you hold the pieces. When I have time, I will unload everything and take closeup pics. There is an incredibly minor amount of flash, but you cull just pull it off with your fingers, No bubbles, fantastic quality. It really does put the larger companies to shame in terms of detail and quality. Michael, incredible work. Thank you for making this available. Maybe a Ferrari F40 engine is in our future? -
Killer build. I always wondered if someone would do this. Here is the real car: http://gtoroadracer.com/current-photos/

Did this spoon test of C1's metallizer

you can use these powders over bare plastic. The darker the base color, the darker the chrome will be, so you can manipulate the hue and how dark the final finish is with the base coats. -
NEW PLACE TO GET PARTS CHROME PLATED!
Quick GMC replied to Ben's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
that makes sense, but it's technically not a product, pretty much just labor. Certain states have loopholes that will allow you be completely legit and not charge tax. I don't know what states other than CA though. -

Scale Modeling and Youth?
Quick GMC replied to drsnapper55's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
this is what all elder people say in every generation. I'll probably say the same thing at your age. The world as you know if changes and it's not easy to understand how these people can possibly like what they like. The English language is changing, acceptable behaviors, etc. It's the way it goes whether we like it or not- 43 replies

I don't have an AMEX, but I accept them through my business. They are more difficult to deal with, but they seem to protect their users pretty well. I carry $5-$10k balance on my business credit card. I also pay off about that much each month, so even though I am carrying a balance, the $10k that was there on the 1st is not the same $10k that is there on the 25th. I am trying to accrue as many points as I can before April. I have two long trips I need to take and I am trying to not use any out of pocket money for the travel expenses.

I can't stop looking at this. Just released a couple days ago, limited to 40 pieces. OH MY GOD! http://fein-design-modell.de/18-gt40-motor/

a lot of cards do pay you to use it. I pay $75 a year for my card and accrue points. If i pay the balance of each purchase within 25 days of the purchase, there is no interest. I opened a new card in April, haven't paid interest yet and have 130,000 points, which is about $1300 credit towards airfare, hotels and rental cars, or I can actually choose purchases to remove from my history and the balance of those will be removed from what I owe in lieu of obtaining points. in 5 months I have made $1225 from Capital One. credit cards are not a bad thing if you understand how they work.

Scale Modeling and Youth?
Quick GMC replied to drsnapper55's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
if aftermarket detail parts and photoetched parts didn't exist, I would have 0 interest in the hobby. I consider myself a car enthusiast, but I build because I have always been infatuated with miniature detail.- 43 replies

if you move your pictures in your PB account after you post them here, it kills your links. Put them where you want them, then post them here. Half your threads have missing pictures.
