  1. I was wondering if the WorkStation was worth getting. Sometimes I have trouble drilling holes straight by hand, but some of these attachments are more clunky and a hassle than they're worth. I still have a long way to go before I dive into a mini lathe and mill. This is what I am talking about http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Attachments/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?pid=220-01 Also, I found a bunch of stuff I didn't even know they made http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Attachments/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?pid=675 http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Attachments/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?pid=A679-02 http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Attachments/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?pid=2500-01 http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Attachments/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?pid=A576 http://www.dremel.com/en-us/Attachments/Pages/ProductDetail.aspx?pid=231
  2. You can tape off the edges to create a dam and get some ultra clear 2 part epoxy and make a nice thick clear coat for it.
  3. You're concerned about security so you post it in the public forum rather than in a private message to admin?
  4. here you go
  5. the 86 is a Series III, piles of junk. You don't want that headache. You'd be better off buying it and lighting it on fire http://www.mez.co.uk/lucas.html
  6. I would probably find a forum where people actually do this. It's more work than just throwing an engine in there, and I have never heard of someone putting a ford motor in there, but there are a ton of Chevy V8 swaps. If you plan on getting your money back out of it, forget it. http://www.johnscars.com/xj/xjv8.html
  7. Walter those are awesome
  8. where did you get this kit? I have been looking for one, my dad had this car and I wanted to see if I could built him a model of it.
  9. I have an 06 GMC Sierra. I just drove a friend's F-140 FX4. Other than the smooth suspension, I was pretty let down by the rest of the truck. Turning radius is the same as mine, interior space is about the same with the truck being MUCH larger than mine. The F-150 was a $50k truck. I am honestly thinking about buying a beater truck and restoring my 06 for a fraction of the cost of buying a new truck . I would like to build a new engine for it and fix the little interior issues and new suspension. Trucks are outrageously expensive these days.
  10. 1/12 57 Chevy engine with real rust on the manifolds. I used one of the oxidizing kits from Michael's
  11. It's like pinstriping tape. It's not curved, but you can contour it to shapes. The Model Master stuff is terrible, so hopefully this will be better.
  12. This is turning out really nice. When you paint the door handles like that, do you tape off or just hand paint? The lines are super clean. I would have a hard time painting a nice color like that and then roughing it up.
  13. I buy my HRM stuff through Replicas & Miniatures
  14. The Tamiya R390 GT1 and other similar GT and some Group C kits have the wheel and tire combos you are looking for. Top Studio makes machined aluminum nuts if you want those too.
  15. This looks great.
  16. Not my style but it is very nicely done. It's nice to see some different stuff here.
  17. got these (ALL) for $25, probably the best timing I have had on something like this.
  18. Here are some pics of my Porsche kit in case anyone is wondering what is so great about it. It was a collaboration between Scale Motorsport and Tamiya in 2001. Limited production, long sold out, nearly impossible to find. Box is open, but everything else is still sealed. Tons of PE and a CD full of reference photos
  19. I saw the Porsche kit on ebay and offered a little under the asking price and he accepted right away. I paid $250 which is double what they used to go for, but the last one that sold on Ebay went for $400. I am very happy with the purchase. The detail parts I got from HLJ.com. They have a ton of stuff, I like to just type in the model kit I have in their search window and see what pops up. Acu Stion is nice stuff. I also have a super detail kit from Acu Stion for my Hasegawa 250 TR with turned wheels, windshiels, stacks etc. and last night I ordered a ton of stuff from BNA in Australia, including a super hard to find E.Jan (MFH) White metal transkit for my Tamiya Lotus Type 79. metal tub, tons of metal parts, turned wheels, etc. I only get to splurge about once a year and I am thoroughly enjoying it while it lasts. Instead of buying a bunch of Revell and Tamiya kits this time, I went for super detail sets and supplies.
  20. I'm sure they understand it quite well considering they actually build cars and stuff. I would imagine they are keeping them the same size this that is most likely the maximum print size of many of the machines they are designed to be printed on.
  21. Acu Stion full detail set with PE, vacuformed windshield and turned intake stacks And my favorite, a paint shaker. With torn tendons and ligaments in my shoulder, I can't really shake bottles well anymore
  22. not to take anything away from the incredible work here, but the plastic chrome from the kits is what gives it away for me.
  23. I am going to pick one of these up. The acrylic pieces are nice, but I think this would make for some nice finished photos. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QQZIBHW/ref=s9_hps_bw_g328_i7?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-9&pf_rd_r=89DBEB4493D040CB92CD&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1614211662&pf_rd_i=16310191#customerReviews
  24. this is Alclad over gloss black, THEN lacquer clear, then Alclad. And here is the same color over nothing but a plastic spoon. For me, the black only changes the hue of the chrome, nothing to do with the shine. If the surface is ultra smooth and glossy, regardless of color, your Alclad will be also
  25. My home office is in the same room as my hobby bench and custom spray booth. I look at it every time I walk in to start work. It's hard. I literally haven't touched anything model related in close to 2 months. I do buy stuff time to time, but it gets dumped on the bench and back to work. I usually will build for a couple months, then no building for 3-6 months at a time. Definitely less than I'd like too, but I have a kid and a new business to take care of. That's really cool that you get to stay local. I was working for my dad's company and 10-12 hour days with a new baby meant no personal time. It's a huge relief to be able to come home at the end of the day and at least relax a little.
