4-link question!!!
Quick GMC replied to muddragger92's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
i just ordered 1 of each of the Futurattraction 4 links. They are very nice. Be carefull when peeling off the backing though, it can be a little tough, I nearly bent one beyond repair. Might have had something to do with it being in a metal mail box and 119 degrees -
my favorite one so far

What non-auto model did you get today?
Quick GMC replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
My first non-plane military model. $22 shipped to my door, couldn't turn it down. This thing is rad -
It showed up in the mail yesterday and my wife surprised me with my own.

little things, little time at the bench, but it's something. I am also taking an interest in planes, so I have started a couple of those kits. I painted the door panels with the new Vallejo paint I got, but it's super flat finish and was hard to detail. I decided to strip and I removed some of the molded in detail to make room for the photo etched stuff Notice the emblem on the left side of the panel emblems, cranks and knobs polished and ready assembled the keys \- 101 replies

Car foil instead of paint
Quick GMC replied to khier's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't see why they couldn't do decals like this. Scale Motorsport makes carbon fiber decals that you can set and get the wrinkles out with a hair dryer. They conform to curvy and tight spaces. -
A highschool classmate of mine makes these things and sells them. She takes patterns and sets nails into the wood, then wraps string around them to make pictures. I had her make this for my 1 1/2 year old son so I can hang it in his room. Turned out way better than I expected

New modeling tool from Kitchen Table Resins

Then you pay double shipping if you order two units. Let the guy run the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH business the way that's best for him and buy it, or don't. -
Another paint question related to polishing

don't use microfiber, use a smooth polishing cloth. -

The only thing I have bought specifically for this model is the model Car Garage photoetch set. I always have the Scale Hardware stuff around, and the tubing, etc. With the kit included, it will probably have around $50-$60 worth of stuff, including the paint.- 101 replies

4 link idea was short lived. I am not knowledgeable about this stuff and I realized there wasn't enough room to install it with the way the frame is. Since I already painted and weathered the chassis, I didn't want to go backwards and hack it up I made my own U bolts from some detail wire and used .8mm brass nuts. The detail wire was soft, so the nuts cut threads into the u bolts and I don't have to glue them. This is a very rough mockup, there is still plenty to go. The setup is not ideal, but for the sake of not losing my mind and actually finishing this model, this is basically what I am going with.- 101 replies

If this type of stuff interested you, or scares you just a little, please Google Michael Hastings. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Hastings_(journalist) http://www.rt.com/usa/michael-hastings-car-neighbor-853/ http://www.occupy.com/article/exclusive-who-killed-michael-hastings http://nymag.com/news/features/michael-hastings-2013-11/ http://www.wnd.com/2013/08/mystery-grows-in-journalists-death-prepping-obama-expose/ -
3D printing quality
Quick GMC replied to 59 Buick's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I didn't take his post as condescending. I appreciate straight forward information, especially when it reveals something like a bias in the presented technology at a trade show like suggested here. If that's true, it's pretty shady and deliberately preventing people from being exposed to newer, more efficient technology. I don't know anything about 3D printing other than what i can order from Shapeways right now, and the basics. -

Can you elaborate on that for those of us that don't know exactly everything that's happening? -
Dirt Modeler's PE Jack Stands
Quick GMC replied to Quick GMC's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
oh wow, I just checked there 2 days ago and they were out. Good lookin' out, thank you. I think I might clean them out. -
I really want to get some of their photo etched jack stands. There are some jack stands on Ebay, but the PE ones look so much better. They are always out of stock and the vendors I have found don't have them either. Does anyone know where they can be purchased? http://www.dirtmodeler.com/store/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=120
