  1. I struggle with Alclad black base sometimes, I have better luck with Scale Finishes lacquer gloss black. If you are ever in the mood to try other paints, I would recommend it.
  2. If you use Alclad correctly, or find a way to make it work, it will give you a realistic chrome finish. The important part is taking the time to find a way to make it work> I don't do it the way they recommend, but I get very good results.
  3. The C6 Vette with the front fender stripe is the Ron Fellows edition, comes from the factory that way. http://www.supercars.net/Pics?viewCarPic=y&source=carGal&carID=3729&pgID=1&pID=817436
  4. small bubblewrap seems to be a smart way. Also the little air bags, if you place them correctly, could be a good way. One on each side, one on top and one on bottom. Then wrap tape around them. Now your car is inside it's own airbag. like this: http://3.imimg.com/data3/SK/WP/MY-926651/packing-air-bags-250x250.jpg
  5. verbally abuse them when they call
  6. Don't feel bad, I just paid the most I ever have for a kit. It's rare, but I still probably paid double what I could have if I waited.
  7. has there ever been an actual confirmed case of someone clubbing a baby seal? You're a bad person if you hunt, why don't you be a good person like me and buy meat at the store? This is borderline retarded edit: This is actually retarded, in the truest sense of the word.
  8. This guy's website is a joke. he places the blame on everyone else, he blames a guy for ending up with his pictures, then gets mad when he has to pay $20 to get them back. He trashes his freind throughout the whole thing. Then he wants people to help him move, right before he says he bought a 3D printer? His priorites are severely screwed. How does he expect to build a car if he can't scrape together a few grand in moving costs? This is the kind of stuff you hear from high school kids that haven't yet realized how things work and how much they cost in the real world. Also, being severely narcissistic isn't going to help.
  9. I bought this. I got it for less than the listed price, but it still wasn't cheap. I was actually looking for a 956 setup to buy and came across this. I probably won't build it for a while. I haven't received it yet. Super rare Scale Motorsport super detail kit for Tamiya Porsche 956 http://www.ebay.com/itm/181756353237?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  10. Bill quoted Carlin, Nick was replying to Bill. Keep up
  11. if it is consistently late every month, is it really late at all? change the release month to two months ahead and nobody will ever know the difference.
  12. The shine is throwing me off. The color and stuff looks good, but the shine is unrealistic. Maybe hit it with a dullcote here and there.
  13. It's almost never actually realistic, but since these things are so small, it adds depth you otherwise wouldn't get. I added a fuel line to my 68 HEMI Dart that isn't there in real life, but it adds dimension to the small model. I like the detail that is achievable with these models and that's why I enjoy building. Unless it is a well documented racecar where there are pictures of every piece, I rarely strive for utmost accuracy. In the name dimension and detail, do what you must to make it pop. The unrealistic weathered chassis look much better to me than when they are not detailed at all.
  14. I try and use as little words as possible when I google. Like last night I was loking at porsche stuff. Instead of using "phot etch part for tamiya porsche 962c" I say "photoetch tamiya 962" Then I go to images and look at the product photos here is web results with more words: https://www.google.com/search?q=photo+etch+parts+for+tamiya+962c&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8 Here is iumage results with less words: https://www.google.com/search?q=photoetch+tamiya+962&safe=off&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=ElpeVfjWB8urogSA6YDgDw&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAg&biw=1440&bih=865
  15. I wouldn't consider this a serious accident A lot of people do stop, but a lot of people also stop to gawk and take pics.

  17. I use Scale Hardware a lot and th only sizes you can really use are the .5mm, .7mm and .8mm. Everything else is to bi on 1/24 and 1/25
  18. Instead of tape, use teflon tape. It's more flexible and you can extend or shrink it as you wish
  19. the finish and effect of Metalizers comes from the surface. If you cover that surface with ANYTHING, it is going to take away from that finish. It's just that simple. It's an effect on the surface. not a color. If you were trying to preserve the color, without caring what the surface finish looked like, you can clear it. If you clear it, you will kill it.
  20. The RAM won't really help with that. That would be your internet connection and processor. Your RAM speed helps when you are running multiple programs at a time, switching back and forth, etc. If you email and your browsing is slow, I doubt you'll see an improvement.
  21. bodies can be done for much less, but you're at the mercy of what people are putting out. TDR has the Jag D Type in 1/24 https://www.shapeways.com/shops/tdrcatalog?section=TDR+Body+Shop&s=0
  22. The brake calipers squeegeeing the rotors dry and the 90 foot reduction in stopping distance would be the difference between a crushed bumper and your face being scraped off the asphalt by the cleanup crew. They were pretty massive improvements in safety that can save lives if a truck blows a tire and comes over 2 lanes and is about to hit you, or and accident you otherwise couldn't stop in time for. Things happen that require assistance even when you are paying attention. The stuff I am seeing now with the auto parallel park and the lane change warning are pretty absurd though. Some cars even have a doze sensor to let you know when you're falling asleep.
