I like your story behind the build! Getting the whole family involved is great!

Really nice clean build, and I like the colour. gives it a military look!

Real Shame about those decals! These Kits go for high prices on evilbay... Good job on the chassis correction!

Fantastic build!

Sweet Ride!

Thanks for the kind comments, and to clarify on some of the points raised: 1. Yes the kit went together well & was reasonably detailed 2. I didn't have to deepen the panel lines, and I used 3 coats of zero grey primer, several coats of Tamiya Gun Metal Grey & finished with Zero 2k clear. Most of the fit is perfect, infact the rear lights didn't fit due to the paint thickness, and the clearcoat cracked off when adding that detail. Some things like masking to paint the wheels was a pain, and the wheels & tyre wall are in 1 piece of plastic. 3. The original grill is a decal, you have to cut out the plastic plate on the chassis (that the decal would be applied to) in order to add some cut-out after market PE. it's a minor mod. I have the Aston Martin DBR9 in the stash too, that's on the next up list!

It's been a 2.5 year dry patch, but finally got one finished, even if it's dinky. Well proud of it! Decals were a bit tough and difficult to conform, even with tonnes of microsol. Comments and criticisms welcome...

It's too Good!

Well it cheered me up too!

So fell into some problems! Nice & neatly masked & painted the interior tub ready for flocking I have used some flocking from HiroBoy, And some PVA glue. Did one half first - so as not to allow the PVA to dry up Patted it down with a brush, then did the other half. But it turned out really weak & see-through, you can see the glossy glue underneath So I've stripped it & will have to start again. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? Should I have watered down the PVA?

Huge amount of mods on this build! Well done! -
Thanks for the comments! Well, better to have had & lost than never owning one like me! Yes it's a mix of Tamiya Acrylic GunMetal & Silver Thanks Dude..

I always wanted an S2000, but it was too impractical, so I ended up with a civic type R instead - which is a car I loved to own, so much so, that I ended up keeping it for 5 years and sold it on at 90k on the clock (miles). Any how, decided to do this build as it's curb side, and should be quick. I haven't actually finished a model in 2 and a half years due to house renovations. This will be a quick build with not too much detail, I want to learn more about clear coating with 2K, and use my first set of PE in earnest. Box art: Using Hobby Design Photoetch: I've cut out the grill to add P/E later: Finished the chassis: (made a hash job of the wash on the sump & transmission) Finished 2 bits of the interior too: and the cabriolet hood:

Thanks for the comments and hints, and thanks for the links to your site! Decals on this kit are awful too...

The polished plastic cane out really well in the pics, great idea!

I mocked up the car and thought you can see the interior. So I've cut out the door sides. Ill be adding some simple belts too. Used a dremel, and was hoping to not completely ruin or melt anything. And it seems to have worked. Not perfect, but it is better with the holes than without. I'm also in the process of making some floor mats. Will be flocking then soon...

Tamiya Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 (UPDATE:UNDER GLASS 11-4-16)
Funkychiken replied to lghtngyello03's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks for the tamiya tips! -
Yes, melting due to contact with the rubber. I was going to give it several coats of primer and maybe superglue. You have to seal it with something.

Your wheels are bleeding plastic, I have this model, and it will continue and get very messy unless you strip & redo... as I'm finding. otherwise, great build, I too didn't put a wash on the wheels, but I think I'll re-do in steel, not chrome...

Really nice builds, thanks for sharing! I fell in love with the testarossa...
