  1. I like the subject, will be following along...
  2. Looks like a detailed kit, coming together quickly too!
  3. Wow, that will test your patience, but will be worth it in the end... Good luck!
  4. Hi All, wanted some advice on how to use the seat belt material supplied with a P/E kit. It does seem at first a bit of a stupid question, but I'm wondering what you guys would do.. I would normally just use a strip of Tamiya masking tape, cut to length & sprayed semi-gloss black. But this kit came with the shown material. It does look much better. My problem, and question, is that it is a sticky sheet. The white backing peels off, and the underside is sticky, I do not want to stick the seat belt, just want to mount it. So what have you guys done with this in the past? It seems a bit too thick to stick two lengths together. I'm currently leaning towards ditching it, and going with sprayed Tamiya masking tape. The only reason I'm asking the question, is that this stuck looks much better... Thanks...
  5. Thanks for the comments guys! 2nd attempt at flocking the interior, also with hiro boy flocking, but what I changed was diluting the white glue about 1 to 1 with water and doing the flocking in different orientations so that it didn't flow too much, it took 5 orientations to complete, but looks better now, ready for the interior to be assembled. I am having some trouble with the P/E kit seat belt material, I will post a question in the help section to see what people think...
  6. Lots of progress, but not much to show! Matts completed, flocked & stuck in place, interior nearly complete again. Seat belts are complete, need to be added to the seats...
  7. This one's on my shopping list, but I love the finish of yours, sharp looking model
  8. I have now re-painted the interior tub ready for re-flocking. I've also 2K clear coated the body shell, but I think the hardener was off. It clumped up in the airbrush & caused some spluttering. I plan to sand / buff these out, but it's going to take time...!
  9. Making slow progress. I messed the mats up, so had to strip the carpet flocking and white glue, but now they are re-sprayed & ready for flocking again. The body has been embellished, I was going to use a wax on it, but I'm worried about getting that stuff in the crevices again, so I'll probably leave it as is. The hand painted silver isn't great, but I think the photo's exaggerate the poor quality! the application of PE for grilles is taking time, and the super glue (which was applied to the underside) has crept through and left serious witness marks all over the place, the white stuff rubs out, but the lightened area seems to be a permanent... I guess I should have used white glue...
  10. Off the wall weired, and high quality finish, I like it!
  11. Really like the strange ones, and this build is great!
  12. Made some progress on this motor, the chassis is finished, and went together really well, Tamiya make great kits that are well detailed, and well engineered. The problem I have is the grille, without a jig it's really difficult to get it together without it being wonky! Any pointers out there?
  13. Turned out great! The paint looks perfect...
  14. Love this build! Like everything about it!
  15. It doesn't look like a curbside! Looking good so far tho, but agree with the comments about fixing the fit first!
  16. I like your story behind the build! Getting the whole family involved is great!
  17. Really nice clean build, and I like the colour. gives it a military look!
  18. Real Shame about those decals! These Kits go for high prices on evilbay... Good job on the chassis correction!
  19. Fantastic build!
  20. Thanks for the kind comments, and to clarify on some of the points raised: 1. Yes the kit went together well & was reasonably detailed 2. I didn't have to deepen the panel lines, and I used 3 coats of zero grey primer, several coats of Tamiya Gun Metal Grey & finished with Zero 2k clear. Most of the fit is perfect, infact the rear lights didn't fit due to the paint thickness, and the clearcoat cracked off when adding that detail. Some things like masking to paint the wheels was a pain, and the wheels & tyre wall are in 1 piece of plastic. 3. The original grill is a decal, you have to cut out the plastic plate on the chassis (that the decal would be applied to) in order to add some cut-out after market PE. it's a minor mod. I have the Aston Martin DBR9 in the stash too, that's on the next up list!
  21. It's been a 2.5 year dry patch, but finally got one finished, even if it's dinky. Well proud of it! Decals were a bit tough and difficult to conform, even with tonnes of microsol. Comments and criticisms welcome...
  22. Neat Build!
  23. Well it cheered me up too!
