  1. A rare kit will always do well, unless it miraculously gets reissued. Like the '78 Ford pickup by AMT. $70 crashing down to $20 last December. Depends on the profit margin; what you paid and what you can afford to sell it for. Remember eBay and PayPal will take about 12% away from you (unless you are a store PowerSeller, then you save about 3%). Common kits are subject to a perceived shipping cost (usually $10) or is costing you $10 if you list Free Shipping. I think you end up practically giving away these kits as they are not a "got to have" item. Ebay has a broader audience. I think you will have to give stuff away at a local model show. Unless it is rare. Have you considered parting out the kits on eBay. In general, the parts are worth more than the whole.
  2. The current AMT '73 grille is okay with proper black accent a Mustang emblem in the center of the grille. The AMT annual '73 has that grille insert with the Mustang. I made a copy of it to fit in my Gone in 60 Seconds Mustang.
  3. I think after the Mach Won issue, the AMT body disappeared. Yes, the recent AMT issues are really the MPC version.
  4. Nice jobs. Am I supposed to see a rust hole where the spare tire goes?
  5. Reminds me of the BOSS HOG , but that uses a 350 Chevy V8. This looks like a 454. Bet it handles well. LOL
  6. I think it is best you contact Kevin at Missing Link. He posted on facebook the standard front and said he had the mach 1. The convertible looks like a lot of work. Also need the standard hood?
  7. They probably didn't use a Trans Am because as a private detective, he wanted to appear subtle, or blend in?
  8. I remember when dad got his new '68 Caprice; almost like the '67. They recessed all the dash knobs. It was almost impossible to pull the knob for the headlights. The side marker lights were cool to me. I could tell every new '68 car on the road at night. The beautiful chrome around the widows inside the '68 Caprice were gone. Paint or plastic. They door handles were simple now. I never understood how the old ones could hurt anybody. The beginning of boredom.
  9. I had your theme too; collect all the Chevys from 1953-1976. And I did collect them all. Problem is I moved along to Ford. Got all of them Then I went to Pontiac You get the point. I am out of control. I am not sure when I will finish what I have. But it has been fun, collecting the models and meeting friends. Good luck to your project.
  10. Vamach1, is it my imagination, or do you have every variation of 1971-1973 Mustang kit? 24 is a bunch. It appears that you have a convertible in the works too. I would like very much to see what you are doing with that model.
  11. AMT- I always thought that the original AMT '71-72, and '73 Mustang had the best shape. After the front end became a '73, AMT heavily modified it to be a Warren Tope race car. No more exhaust and the interior was smoothed out. There are many reissues of this race kit sometimes as a street racer. It has just been re-released by Round2. A big job to return as stock or even a movie car. MPC- Same deal as AMT because it ended as a 1973. Has more stock parts and only the grille is the problem to revert it back to a 1971 or 1972. When ERTL dropped the MPC brand, they referred to it as an AMT. Missing-Link sells the front end parts to do a '71 or '72 with chrome or body colored bumper. They have the Mach 1 or standard grille. Palmer or Lindberg- Yes that's right, a Palmer. Lindberg inherited the Palmer Mustang. It's a real mongrel too. It's 1/2 '70 and 1/2 '71. maybe you can fin a good part off it. Palmer made 3 1/25 scale cars; the 70 mustang, 71 Challenger and a 70 Corvette. The shame is that the 70 Mustang was actually decent. Verdict- Buy the MPC version ('71 BOSS 351) and spend another $20 on Missing Link parts. You will get what you want and will look nice.
  12. This is how much I had to file to make it fit perfect.
  13. Sorry for not posting a photo, but I had to delete tons of posted photos to do this one.
  14. Nice Bond Mustang. Where did you get the angle supports for the inner fender engine bay compartment?
  15. I thought about deleting previous posts, but I'm not sure that will work. Is there a limit in this forum?
  16. I can't post a 32 kb photo. Says file size too big. There is something more wrong than just having to go to photo bucket.
  17. Everytime I post a picture it reduces my available file size. I am down to 29kb. What is the deal? I know 100 kb is not too big.
  18. Recently I picked up a Missing Link conversion kit to change the AMT 1962 Catalina into a Grand Prix. I love the faux convertible 2 door hardtops GM produced from 1962 to 1964. The first thing you notice is that the body casting is as straight as an arrow. There are no sags or twists. It's cast in a opaque white resin that assimilates the color of late '60s or early '70s AMT kits. If you looked quickly, you would swear it's styrene. Next to molded styrene, it is perfect. How could a resin kit be better than a styrene kit? No sink holes. I compared the AMT body against the Missing Link body and found sink holes on the AMT and none on the Missing Link. Kudos for removing them before casting the resin body. The chrome is very nice. They include; a new grille for the front and one for the rear on the trunk, 8 lug Pontiac wheels. I always thought the Catalina was bordering on boring. I know AMT chose it for a drag race car so that's okay. I like the all new interior included in the Missing Link conversion. You get 2 bucket seats, rear seat, console, dash and right and left side panels to convert it into a GP. Resin is not the same styrene in many ways, but most important is how tight intricate inside corners are made. The AMT Catalina is really complicated how the front and rear bumpers fir to the body. Now consider how resin can vary a wee bit. The result is non fitting issues. The rear bumper from AMT fit the styrene body perfectly, but it wouldn't snuggle into the resin GP without a little gentle filing. After a short while of removing some material, it fit. The resin front grille refused to fit the resin body as well. But it was a bit more difficult. I did get it to fit after a lot of file and trial fitting. Basically, I removed material from the inside where no one can see. The photo shows how much had to go. Now, the resin grille fits the resin body PERFECT. I checked the glass from the AMT kit. It fit the resin GP body very nicely. This is a great kit. I don't expect this kit to be available forever, like all resin kits. My advice is to get one now while you can.
  19. AMT 1964 is really the last year of all kits having 4 chassis screws ( If you forget about 1970/1 Torino/TBird/Chevelle/Wildcat/LTD) In 1965 a lot went to 2 rear screws like the GTO, Mustangs and Impalas In 1966 some used plastic pins, either the big Mercury or big Buick. In 1967 the Corvair and Impala had no screws The 1968 Torino had 2 front screws I don't remember any of the 1969s having screws MPC Used rear screws up to 1972 on some kits
  20. I couldn't decide; old model picture, or picture old model This is 1967 with a Polaroid. I think all these models gone.
  21. My mother bought me this '64 Impala model at Jordan Marsh in August 1964. It has been rebuilt 2 times. It has no wheel covers because that is how I remember seeing a new Impala SS at the dealer back in 1964.

    1974 vega

Hard to believe 30 years ago. Time flies.
  23. Gaute, The model you are making is pretty typical for a 1960s kid's car. I guess all movies use some artistic license though. My father bought a 1955 Oldsmobile 4dr hardtop for his brother in 1963. It cost $50. Actually, it ran and was half decent. He got it from a Chevy dealer he bought cars from over the years. I would guess that yellow '57 Chevy would cost no more than $100 that they used in the movie. Of course you can't get that deal anymore.
  24. Think they made a new tool, or ruined the '70?
  25. Is the Russ Davis the same as the Mach Won kit? One is a '70 and the other appears to be a '69
