  1. While picking up some weathering supplies from a local train hobby shop, saw these on the rack and thought they could be repurposed as 1/25 scale fuel cells, battery boxes, control boxes etc. They are mildly textured to represent wooden crates but a little judicious sanding and clean up would turn them into smooth-sided steel or aluminium boxes. They are hollow and each has a separate lid. The largest measures 20mm x 15 x 13 and the smallest 10 x7 x 6. Cheers..... Geoff
  2. Finally plucked up the courage to pick up the Dremel and cut the C pillar out. Fashioned a new pillar out of 0.5mm evergreen sheet and superglued it into place. Needed a small fillet along the belt line. Once the glue has set up securely, I'll bend the top corner around to meet the rear roofline. Phew!!! Cheers...... Geoff
  3. Another free hour and a little bit more progress. Cut away the rear parcel shelf and replaced it with a larger piece of flat sheet to fill the gap to the rear window. Also made the door panels and foiled them with BMF to represent the aluminium panels in the real thing. All in all, I'm happy with progress and "the look" I'm achieving. Cheers..... Geoff
  4. Spent an hour or two today working on the roll cage structure. The kit cage was missing one of the top bars so a piece of black sprue was recruited in to replace it. I then started adding the additional bars that are found in Aaron's car using evergreen tubing. Removed the top bars of the lower cage because the real car pic shows that the first horizontal bar besides the driver / passenger is well below the door window. I still have some small brace bars top, front and rear to add in. Coming along nicely. Cheers...... Geoff
  5. Thanks Gene for your kind words. It's a cool looking car. Cheers..... Geoff
  6. My time at the bench today was shortened by a call from my neighbour wanting a patch welded into the door of his project car, so not much done other than filling pin holes in the body. Hopefully, the weather will improve enough to get some paint on this week! One can only hope ?
  7. Ok. Spent an hour or so today fixing the door frames and B pillars into place. Then some time on the computer and Mr Google looking at images of the real cars. Traced off a pic to get the angles I needed onto a post it note. Cut it out and taped into place. Time now to sit back and ponder...... "Does it look right?" Cheers......Geoff
  8. Glad to have inspired you guys! Back at the bench today - a rainy public holiday - and working on this and my Chevy Nova race car conversion. The Falcon body has a few pinholes, so out with the putty and knife to get them all filled. Hopefully will post some more pics up later tonight. Cheers......Geoff
  9. Oops! Obviously the forum filter deleted and replaced my opening exclamation (large body of water behind wall) with blah blah blah. Sorry about that!!!
  10. BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH that's good Jeff. And yeah it does look like the Hoonigan Mustang but obviously you had the design idea in your head well before Ken Block did!!!! ???
  11. Thanks everyone, Great feedback really does spur me on to keep building better models!!! That's the real spirit of this hobby of ours ?
  12. Ok, made a start on the roofline changes. First thing was to get the door and window frames in. Next I'll cut away the existing C pillars and fashion the new ones. Taking my time....... Think twice or more, then cut once!!
  13. Thanks Craig! All good Dennis. Thanks for the offer but I'm not after an exact replica, just a quick build. A little bit more work on it today. Cut the drivers net out and smoothed the roll cage. Also started to clean up the resin body - deepening the panel lines and removing the badges. Cheers....Geoff
  14. It was a bit of a shock to me too David. But it means I got exactly what I needed for this build.
  15. Yes Jim, Built pretty much out of box with a few enhancements, but engine bog stock. Cheers.... Geoff
  16. Thanks Frederic, The kit is an easy build but produces a nice looking model. Cheers......Geoff
  17. Spent some time at the bench today sorting out how to approach the roofline conversion. Think I've got a start on it. Pics tomorrow.
  18. Are you sure this is a model?? Brilliant work. Love it ?????
  19. Awesome stuff Scott. These look so real. Brilliant. Great models and great photos! Cheers....Geoff
  20. You're too kind!
  21. Thanks Chris ?
  22. You're right Bill, a very accurate and easy build. The only issue I found was the front end steering situation. There's no tie rod between the spindles. Which means, if you don't glue the stub axles into the suspension arms, there's no way to set up parallel steering.
  23. Thanks JC, This one's sitting in my display cabinet waiting for the final touches - numbers, brake scoops, chrome touch ups, wheel colour change. I'm sure I'll get to it sooner or later after the workbench clears a bit. Cheers.......Geoff
