  1. Thanks guys. Yeah, I think the colour and wheel choice suit the car rather well. Cheers.....Geoff
  2. Thanks for your kinds words fellas, Much appreciated. Cheers.....Geoff
  3. Thanks folks, appreciate your kind words :)) Around the late nineties, early noughties, the Victorian Police actually put a number of Subaru WRXs into service to deal with a growing spate of stolen WRXs being used in getaways ----- If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!! Cheers.......Geoff
  4. Thanks for your feedback guys. Appreciate it. I'll drop the driver's net as you suggested. Espo, thanks for the roofline suggestion, but this one's got to be a quick build and I decided it will be a something similar, not the exact car. Make sure that chair is a comfortable one Curtis :)) By the way, the AMT Kyle Petty donor kit came with a driver figure, so I think young Aaron might make an appearance in the driver's seat. Watch out!! Cheers.... Geoff
  5. Haha! Thanks Greg. My "eyeball engineering" approach must be working then. Cheers..... Geoff
  6. Thanks guys. Appreciate your compliments! This was a spur of the moment project and I was astounded when the body and chassis mated together almost perfectly. This has become the third project on my bench, so hopefully I'll get it done in a reasonable timeframe. Just had to do it though! Cheers......Geoff
  7. AMT 1994 Ford Mustang GT built pretty much OOB but swapped the wheels out for Fujimi aftermarket units along with meaty disc brakes behind. Body badges cast separately using silicon molds and liquid styrene, then painted silver. Side scoops and bonnet vents opened up. Rattle can yellow exterior and black interior.
  8. Tamiya 1999 Subaru WRX WRC car repurposed as a Victorian (Australian state) Police high speed pursuit vehicle. Built as a slammer with blacked out glass and no engine. The kit's rally tyres were swapped out for treaded road tyres. The light bar was homemade with clear acetate droop molded over a wooden buck heated in the kitchen oven with a brass base and chrome spruce pieces inside to represent the lights. Tamiya clear red and blue finish it off. Homemade Police decals and side strips. Added stretched spruce and acupuncture needle antennas plus a scrap sprue speed detection unit. Rattle can white finish and homemade custom number plates that give a nod to the rally car's major sponsor "555".
  9. Another Norm Beechey car. This was the first ever Ford Mustang in the world to win a touring car race. The AMT Mustang kit was built pretty much out of the box. The plain steel wheels were detailed and tyres taken from my parts box. Decals are Patto's Place and paint is rattle can. The rear of the grille was sanded down and replaced with a fine mesh. The piece under the front bumper represents an oil cooler and the stance mirrors the real car. The window glass was replaced with clear acetate all round.
  10. The AMT 1966 Chevy Nova built to represent my favourite Australian Touring Car Champion - "Stormin Norman" Norm Beechey. Added a scratch built roll bar, wheels and tyres pinched from another kit, homemade decals, a rattle can exterior and vinyl paint interior. First pic is the real thing which now sits in a large private collection of historic Australian race cars.
  11. A little bit more trimming of the chassis and interior tub, then mocked up the rollcage and borrowed the dashboard from the AMT 1961 Ranchero kit. Throw the wheels on and refine the stance. Don't know whether to leave the driver's side net in or not...... probably remove it I think.
  12. Was watching Shifting Gears and remembered I had an early model Ford Falcon resin body in my stash somewhere. Dug it out and decided to do a Kaufman tribute car. Not exactly the same model year but will still do the job as a "tribute" build. I'd already sorted out a number of Nascar kits that I'll be selling off and decided one of the early AMT Monte Carlo kits might do. They're a simple kit offering the opportunity to do a quick buildup. Well, laying the body on the chassis plate and, what do you know, the wheelbase is exactly the same!! Even the width is spot on. Some judicial trimming of the chassis plate and I was in the ballpark. Selected some similar wheels (Fujimi BBS DTM) and got to it.
  13. Thanks for your comments guys! Oddvar, Look forward to seeing your handyman van and stump grinder Cheers....Geoff
  14. I know I might be biting off more than I can chew....but.....you gotta challenge yourself sometimes...lol Here's what I've got to accomplish. Top pic is the same profile as actual car. Bottom pic is the kit's profile. Time will tell whether I can nail this one!! Wish me luck
  15. Thanks Tom. Appreciate the background info. It was molded in deep red plastic and a snap kit. From memory, I think I bought half a dozen back in the nineties from a local store that was chucking them out for about aus$9 a piece. Still have 2 or 3 sealed ones in my stash. cheers....Geoff
  16. Thanks Mike. I'm a fanatic for "eyeball engineering" - making it look right...... And good pics help too ?
  17. Thanks Matt. I've used quite a lot of Patto's waterslide decals as he's a fellow Aussie, and always found them fit for purpose. Haven't yet tried the vinyl ones, so was just wondering what you had used. Cheers....Geoff
  18. Took a Lindberg Dodge Caravan and slab-sided it into a cool Surfie wagon. Built as a slammer, Fujimi wheels and tyres, custom paint job, homemade decals and balsa wood surfboards.
  19. Sweet build. Love the colour scheme! ?
  20. Cool build. Have one in my kit stash. Nice to see how it builds up. Did you use Patto's waterslide or vinyl decals?
  21. That's cool. Reminds me of "Bad Chad" ?
  22. Sweet build ?
  23. Thanks guys for your words of encouragement. Hopefully I'll do this one justice in a reasonable timeframe! Thankfully there's no time pressure from my "clients" ?
  24. Good spotting Snake. That's one of the body mods I'll be making. Already got the evergreen strips on the bench ready. Thanks for the call out.
  25. Love them! My very first car was a 510/1600. Always had a soft spot for them. Great models well executed ?
