  1. UFO license, eh? How about Straker's car in 1/25?
  2. Hmm. Curbside with rolling wheels... Wonder if this is going to be an update on the Hero '66 Imperial? Would probably just use the hood, chassis (with promo engine insert) and wheel backs.
  3. No he won't, not in a million years. He appreciates original vintage machinery - in fact the only modified car in his collection is a nicely rodded '57 Chevy truck he bought from the estate of a childhood friend.
  4. Real well done so far! Looks like a funeral home flower car. I have a '59 Craftsman Continental that's too nice to cut up, but I did scrounge a batch of '59-'60 T-bird gluebombs I'm going to do the same thing with:
  5. Great idea! My boss lucked onto what's probably the lowest-mile Executive existing; only 1861 original miles. As found:
  6. Excellent rescue of one of my favorite little cars!
  7. The AMT Rabbit hopped in today; sealed and mint inside with no tire damage on the glass, luckily. Molded in yellow like the box art; might like to paint it Rallye Green like the one my Valley dude co-worker had in '83 - an early '75 with drum brakes all around and the vanity plate DR DILL. Will have to do the clear/red resin bit for the head and taillights. Anyone have a built-up they can share? Any little assembly quirks I should know about? Thanks!
  8. And a selection from the (often NSFW) Internet K-Hole site:
  9. Try to find a junker AMT Jr. Series '60 Chevy wagon, or more easily, a Monogram Bad Actor '60 Chevy sedan delivery. Width on that one may be a bit off since it's 1/24, but it could be narrowed and the windows cut out. Good luck!
  10. Just got this original AMT Rabbit pretty cheap (although the shipping almost doubled the price into the cost of a current kit!): I figured it was worth a shot since AMT skipped over reissuing this kit in favor of the 1/24 Euro-sourced one. I was apparently the only bidder; I say "apparently" because I got this note on the bid page: Never saw that before .
  11. Things weren't set in stone as to when black plates were issued -they must have sat around in the local offices for a while. My '66 and '67 Cadillacs were lifelong SoCal cars; their plates were made in '64 (RPT) and '65 (STH).
  12. Uh... put it on a 4x4 chassis and give it the Mad Max treatment?
  13. Thanks for the info! Wouldn't mind having one someday.
  14. Gotta say I'm impressed with that grille - now let me start counting the vertical bars to make sure
  15. Anyone here have the backstory behind the AMT 1/12 scale '37 Cord? Was AMT looking to build a series of large scale classics? How good a seller was it, do the molds still exist, etc. My dad got a built-up from a friend back in '68 or so (it was his favorite car) and I remember it being very well detailed, but I don't think it's been reissued in a long time. Over to the experts (Tim?)...
  16. A car YOU didn't know existed? OK, that lets out the stillborn '58 Plymouth, or '48 Ford or '32 Ford 3-window that came out in other scales. My interest is piqued!
  17. Hmm. I have a couple guesses... ?
  18. Check the decal sheet, David - sometimes they have a print date on the back.
