  1. Over a year later, and after getting outbid on a couple others, I got an NOS hood: My actual model building is on hold for now; since I moved back to CA I've been working pretty much six days a week and where I live I don't really have a hobby space figured out yet - although everything is safely stored.
  2. A '60 El Camino I got as a freebie from a friend who sold me some unbuilt kits: Got a spare front bumper/grille, but had to shell out for the lower front pan (tough piece to find and people bid 'em up). Pretty rough around the edges even after I stripped the paint so I'll most likely customize it. Another one. Despite 19 perforations in the body thanks to the PO, I'll be building it stock since the rest of the kit is mint:

  4. I bet there will be some sharp '63 Nova wagon gasser builds using this chassis! That front axle looks like it could be made to steer with a fair amount of work - good, as I've seen so many straight axle setups with no spindle detail.
  5. Tim, did they do any repairs to the filed-off interior detail on the driver's door area?
  6. No, this was the one at the corner of Golf and Milwaukee in Niles, IL. Saw my first Ford Pinto in the parking lot there in the fall of 1970.
  7. I have a thread about the '62 Newports I've been working on: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/155279-62-chrysler-newport-rabbit-hole-they-multiply/?tab=comments#comment-2290981 Keep in mind there are a lot of little issues with this kit; chassis fit especially. One screw post in the rear (right side IIRC) needs to be shortened 1/16" or more so the chassis doesn't sit lopsided, and the slot in the panel below the grille needs to be recut at least 1/8" higher for the tab on the front of the chassis to get the correct ride height. It can be a nice car, but even nicer with some (?) effort.
  8. I remember $2.25 at the local Osco drug store and being bummed that they weren't cheaper like at Children's Bargain Town (soon to be Toys 'Я' Us). I did bite the bullet once and picked up the AMT '32 Vicky Fire Chief's Car for (shudder) retail.
  9. From the original December 1963 Esquire article which debuted these designs: Don't know why the Packard was rendered in black and white only.
  10. Nice work! The filming miniature showed up in an episode of Emergency!: (source: impdb.org)
  11. Welcome to the brotherhood of '60 Ford F-100 rescuers! Hope you can get it dismantled OK. What are your plans for it?
  12. You have to use it very sparingly - I use it on a toothbrush, after using Super Clean, to remove stains the SC can't get out. This new stuff? If it cleans old flat black enamel off a chassis, I'm in.
  13. like farmer's daughter?
  14. And don't forget Art gave the only good performance in that classic turkey Rocket Attack USA: Art's girlfriend: "You're gonna wear a tie." Art: "I'll get a special one just for you - with a nude dame painted on it!"
