  1. Glad to share the tip ! Hope everyone finds it useful, and starts adding stems to all their builds! ..I snapped a pic after work of the rim to show the stem, and how its mounted . also the wire I used . The wire measured .020" copper wire. Its found in the jewelery making isle ..hobby lobby, ac moore, etc. Heres a pic showing the stem peaking thru the front wheel.. its sitting right at top dead center.. The front wheel isn't totally correct for the HD edition, but I'm sticking with it. back to the bench..
  2. Your gonna hate me ...it's really that simple! Craft wire, .026 gage . Drill hole thru rim in desired spot from outside rim. I bent a small piece of wire into a 90 , then super glue to rim. All this is hidden inside under tire! After glue sets, bend the stem w tweezers! !! That's it!
  3. Thanks, it added a touch of realism to the beautiful moebius wheels. The fun part is adding just enough detail without overdoing it!
  4. Sorry guys, been out of town a couple days working on a machine run off for my employer. Sounds like NY had chilly weather, Charlotte was much better. Waiting on a few parts from Moebius, and the new day cab arrived while I was awol. Jeff
  5. Excellent build so far! Bashing parts from other kits gives this truck a unique look. Great idea for the telescopic ram! I used an old radio antenna found in the cellar for mine..nothing beats real metal
  6. awesome work Terry ! I might have to pick one of these up for the Brockway I have . Whats your plans for a tractor?
  7. man, thats just amazing work. one of the best done combo;s Ive sen here
  8. ok...I see my pics are still not posting as advertised. The top pic is the wheel detail, added the valve stem. The next shot is the shortened fuel tank . I simply removed one section , and reassembled. After a soak in the pond, its off to primer. Jeff
  9. Fantastic scratchbuilding!! Always entertaining watching your team work
  10. Very cool build, and exceptional work thus far
  11. No problem, that's how modelers help each other out! Noticed I had to remove the flare on the bumper, oops! Sorting out the steps now
  12. https://www.scalehobbyist.com/catagories/Objects/large-nuts-and-bolts-set-b/MGK00SPS006/product.php?s=6&pg=1&ppp=48&sb=stocknumber&so=a&kw=meng this was the set I used , and had to check again..but they were the 2.2 mm size from the sheet. I just eyeballed the size from the bolts on the back plate. @ truckabilly-Thanks for the shots of the real deal...guess the kit ones were pretty close! yeah, I like the hex style much better. @Tbill- Thanks !! The welds are simple to create..learned the trick from a few armor modelers..typical " rivet counters" !! even if ya mess em up..they still look good !! The bolt details are available in several types, and al of them could be used for future builds. Take a section of "tree" from any kit..some "melt" better than others. The moebius sprue was one that took more time to work..and looked "stringy" . warm it over a candle..or lighter and pull gently. The more ya pull, the finer it will be, or break !lol !. Cut a section for the weld, tack with liquid glue. After a few seconds apply more glue, and lightly press into it with your knife tip..the broken tips work great! I used a small file point for the wrecker..I wanted a fatter weld. Practice on glue bomb, its really easy, and adds a cool touch! Tip ! The liquid glue doesn't seem to matter..Testors works GREAT but the fat brush is messy. I use Tamiya or Tenex . Hope this helped ..amazing how many areas you'll find that adding welds improves the realism.
  13. Wow! That's a serious amount of snow in a short time.
  14. The welds were just heated sprue, but the resin ones from Archer would work great too!
  15. I purchased the set from www.scalehobbyists.com, but several carry them. The manufacturer is Meng . Thanks for asking
  16. Amazing work...everything looks perfect
  17. Thanks everyone! Seriously considering turning the parts into a conversion set, just gotta finish cleanup on them, and Gary is willing to cast them!!
  18. Thanks Clayton..musta caught me mid post!
  19. I'm thinking about asking a buddy to cast up the fender treatment and new bumper for future build, these parts would be a simple conversion with the day cab! Jeff
  20. last but not least...a test fit . The headlights were donated by a buddy..thanks Steve!
  21. the next shots are the Harley Edition headlight buckets .,They turned out rather nice! I used Milliput epoxy putty for the bucket, then skinned them with .010 strip to create the raised area . A few touchups w green putty and its off to primer!
