  1. This build was inspired by the custom truck designers like Randy Grubb's Pissed off Pete, Tom Daniels show rods, and wandering thru the rat rod area of the local Syracuse Nats car show.I had a few trucks parts laying around, and after chatting w a model buddy..he prodded me to build our version of a show rod. The plan was to combine the Lil Tanker barrel, Pete 359 cab, and a HUGE Detriot 12V71 for wicked power ....follow along! I started w a vintage Pete 359..the one w the odd green glass no less! I wanted an aggressive chop , so out came the tape and marked out the sections to remove. After careful testing, a few small corrections..and slowly gluing things back together..we had a proper wedge chop.. An aggressive truck like this needed a scratchbuilt frame to keep the rod look..evergreen tubing was used for the frame, z'd the front, and c notched the rears
  2. Thanks everyone, it only took 2 years to get here!! Kept hitting builders burnout!
  3. A few more.. close up of the MTM barrel drive..resin MTM gearbox, I built the hydraulic motor and plumbed w various size tubing. The hose clamps were slivers of BMF . From the front..I've since fixed the lopsided mirrors! The NY plates were decals scaled from actual pics of the 1-1 mixer Enjoy!
  4. Thanks Tom for the posting tips !!! Ok..here's a couple more pics of the mixer outside.
  5. Here's my finished scratch built front discharge mixer!
  6. Another great show again this year, fantastic builds from everyone!! Tom-glad we finally met! That load of baldwin motion camaro was amazing, and the truck trailer combo outstanding.
  7. Thanks! Glad to see the A body get the attention it deserves
  8. That's a beautiful GM A body!! The body mods and interior look fantastic, really like how you changed the chrome strip around the hood! Can't wait to see further progress I've been sourcing the needed parts to build a replica of my 71 cutlass supreme convertible.
  9. Tom- Glad to hear your attending! Be fun to chat trucks again. Sounds like another great show, and I'll have the worst kept secret there !!
  10. All packed up and ready to go! Looking forward to seeing everyone again
  11. Proudly served our great nation 1st cavalry division Ft Hood TX Happy veterans day to all our brothers and sisters that have and are serving .
  12. I don't recall gary having the HD parts on his recent list, there's several small parts he carries that he doesn't list. but if your email him, ask for the parts..there always in stock. He's been busy getting ready for an upcoming event, but he'll reply promptly. Hope ya build one, it's a fantastic looking truck when finished. .and differ from the norm Don't forget to pick up the proper grill from Dave (cargostar ) Carey, it's absolutely awesome,
  13. The possibility of turning a base Lonestar into the HD version is very possible. I mastered the fenders/headlights, and HD style bumper that is available thru gw trucks!! It's 10.00. I built the wrecker of this truck using the tri axle pete. Grab the HD grill and daycab from Dave Carey, it's beautiful, and your nearly there!!
  14. Excellent work, the details are amazing
  15. Great work Terry, cool lathe work on the mixer drive! These trucks look much better with the water tank mounted low Looking forward to the updates That reminds me...I should post a pic of my recently finished mixer..they seem to be popular right now
  16. Nice start on the mixer! The cut down fenders work well, and the stance is spot on.
  17. Great to see this build back on the bench!
  18. Glad to help resurrect this mack from the boneyard even if I only helped w the wheels! You certainly put them to good use! Hope to see this in person soon
  19. Nice save ! Gonna look great w a little dust
  20. Greatwork on your headache rack Sam. Adding more strip to beef it up looks good, and you'll be much happier than using the resin offerings.
  21. The hinges have a flange that would be used to glue to the body or door edge. I'm just returning from the Bristol night race, I'll post an image when I return if needed
  22. Happy to offer another tool we can use ! That's what makes these forums great, helping each other As far as how many trucks these would cover, hmm..unsure. I'm guessing each door is about 2 nches tall, ? I did use a small section for a frame mounted tool bin, and had more left. My door was 48mm tall.
  23. I dropped a few images for the hinges in the tip/trick forums per Gators request -
