  1. Rust-o-leums camouflage comes out pretty flat. You can also try black primer instead of flat black paint.
  2. This is definitely one to follow. Looks like the AMT panels fit perfectly on the MPC body. Any fitment issues? Sometimes there can be a slight difference in scale between different manufacturers.
  3. Fantastic. Your guys did an outstanding job. I'm sure you are extremely proud to own it and rightfully so. One of the benefits of large scale is the amount of detail, the drawback is they up so much shelf space. Again, fantastic!
  4. Finally got some paint on it. Just need to clean up some spots I burned through, clear it and more rubbing.
  5. Nicely done!
  6. IMHO definitely not gold. #1 may work with a set of whitewalls. That might be the direction I go with on a '70 T-Bird glue bomb I recently picked up, if I rebuild it at all. I want to get the Trues and Vogue look. I am a 50 year old fart that thinks stock wheels on an old car just makes it look like an old car no matter how clean it is. I'm one that can appreciate uniqueness, individual style and slight updates to the classics. That's just MHO and we know what they say about opions.
  7. Wicked indeed. Driving something like that would definitely get the heart pumping.
  8. Beautiful build but being here in Southwest Florida, I don't understand what that contraption is on the front end (lol).
  9. Very cool Merc. I love the interior work.
  10. Sharpies dry to a semi-gloss with an almost purple tint. My experience using it on clear plastic has been mixed as sometimes it doesn't provide complete coverage. A regular tip Sharpie may work best since the trim is thin. Try it on a scrap piece first.
  11. Excellent job. The color really compliments the lines of the car, which is one of my all time favorites from the '70's. I know I'm in the minority but the wheels, although quite large, don't look too bad. Can you tell us what wheels those are? I'm looking for a set of wires for a 1970 T-Bird and trying to avoid the "clown" look. Looking at the choices on line it's hard to tell how big or small the wheels actually are. Can't wait to see which wheels you settled on. Great job and welcome back to the hobby.
  12. Nicely done. The color, hubcaps, interior are all very cool. But I'm also one that thinks a chopped top on a '48 Ford is an improvement.
  13. Looking good so far. For the grill it depends on the rest of the truck. Since the wheels are mostly chrome maybe leave the "brand bar" body color and foil the upper and lower grills then use a black wash. If you're really good you can sand the back of the grills out so no wash is needed, then foil or paint silver.
  14. Nice clean Mustang. The Saleen wheels really work. A little foil would really make it pop. Nice job.
  15. Me too. I am also no fan of Star Wars or SSR's but this is a really cool build.
  16. Why not go wild with a yellow, orange or rootbeer? Maybe a light blue. It's really all about what you like. Excellent body work by the way.
  17. Thanks for the tip Chris. I'll give it a try.
  18. That's a cool '55. Nice stance and color combo. You say it was a nightmare. What were the issues you had?
  19. Focusing more on the body now. I was able to find the gravel guard I was looking for on a 1/25 scale ERTL die cast. I had to remove part of the lip on the wheel opening and along the rocker panel to make it lay flat.
  20. Sweet looking 64. Loving the paint.
