Thank you all. Glad you like. I think since I've figured out the side glass I may revisit the Suburban conversion I did a few years back.
Thanks again.
This project started as one of those "I wonder if I can..." things, and I finally did it. It's the AMT 1996 Chevy Tahoe snap kit sliced and diced into the 2 door version. Thanks for checking it out.
I say go for it. It's not too difficult as long as you have the correct dimensions and get your cuts right.
Thanks for the compliments guys!
For me the big challenge was the side glass but I think I have that solved. I used a clear plastic package with four sides and a flat top and made a cut just where the plastic curves. It took many tries before i got it close to correct.
The tint was also a challenge for me. Since the top of the glass is curved, 1:1 tint film didn't hold too well and there were a few air bubbles. That stuff works best with heat but of course plastic doesn't. I settled on spray paint that's used for tinting tail lights I wouldn't suggest using it on your 1:1 but it worked ok for this application. It made the glass a little cloudy but rubbing it with Weiman's helped a bit.
Thanks Richard. Thanks Greg. I decided against the wash, I didn't want to mess up the paint and have to start over. I think the console came from the 56 Ford. The 4X4 in the background is the Tahoe snap kit modified into the 2 door version. Since it's a snap kit I kind of cheated on the suspension. I posted some pics on the WIP here. I lifted the Revell H2 with a little more detail. Glad you like. Thanks!
