ZZ Top '33 Ford ?'s
Perspect Scale Modelworks posted a topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The Monogram ZZ Top '33 Ford Eliminator will be on the workbench soon and I have a few questions. I see a lot of pics online and have watched the video a few times to refresh my memory (been many years since I last saw it) but I can't find any detailed info on the interior, engine & chassis. Does anyone have, or know where I can find this info? Also, can anyone suggest a rattle can that will match the red exterior? Am I correct that the interior is a burgundy with white accents? Any info is appreciated. Thanks -

Yeah, the accuracy is really poor and seems like you can only find the kits in Asia at a high price. Maybe there's not a lot of interest for them by American modelers and as usual anything with the 3 pointed star comes at a premium. Thanks! -

Thanks guys. It's a replica of my 1:1 '96 E320 except for the wheels. It was an unpainted glue bomb when I got it. All the "glass" had to be replaced with plastic from a food container. -
Mercedes W124 Estate

Thanks guys. It's sort if a rare kit and can be pricey if you find one. The box is dated 1987. This is the AMG version. There is a non AMG version on the auction site now for $108. Of course I didn't pay anything close to that. My motto, "never pay retail". Thanks again -

This is the Fujimi E320 Classic with Carlsson wheels from either Fujimi or Aoshima, I don't remeber which.

Removing Glue From Models?
Perspect Scale Modelworks replied to John Clutch's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I found a built kit online that was pretty much a glue bomb. The part that bugged me the most was the poseable steering was glued with one front wheel higher than the other. I thought about the freezer trick which I've had mixed results with in the past. Then I thought about something I had in the garage called Freeze-Off made by CRC. Works great on rusted on bolts by what the can says is a "freeze shock action... immediately drops the temperature of the area in direct contact". The nozzle comes with a small straw to direct the spray in tight areas so I gave the pieces a quick shot and it worked. Parts separated without breaking or damaging the plastic. This is nasty stuff so if you try it do so in a well ventilated area or outside and use a mask and goggles and all those safety measures. I washed the parts in dish soap and water and was good to go. This was the first time I tried it so I'm not saying I swear by it but I will try it on the next glue bomb I come across. Individual results may vary. -
Thanks for the kind words guys, I appreciate that. I prefer the 2 door over the 4 door Tahoe and even the Suburban. It looks good stock, lifted and outfitted for emergencies. I agree, the '99+ alloys look better than the stockers. I think I'll de-chrome them, paint them silver and add some wash to them and see how that looks. And since I have a spare chassis, I'll leave one at stock height and lift the suspension on the other. Thanks again

Coming along nicely Curtis. As for the trim, maybe a very dark shade of Grey would work. -
